I delivered a baby using a CB radio. An out-of-state driver traveling through called in near panic (wife crying & occasionally screaming in the background) to say the baby was coming early and he was looking for a hospital. I directed him across the downtown area through multiple one-way streets directly to the emergency entrance door. I didn't miss a single street or turn. He called back later to thank me and say his daughter was born roughly 2 1/2 minutes after arrival.
Thank you truckers, If it wasn't for you guys we would not have a thing in this rural town. I enjoy listening to CB radio. It is funny there is some rambos out there and yet you guys respond to them. If you ignore them, they will go away. It's scary to see that it is like my home town in the 90s.
What is everyone going to do when they outlaw the use of CB radio when mobile? Don't laugh it has already started under the new cellphone distracted driver laws.
this is my personal opinion, and not sure if this is the exact reason, but usually channel 19 has the lowest swr of all the channels, which is why i think they migrated there years ago. back when cb was big they had different channels for southbound and northbound, eastbound and westbound. and the main chat channel i believe was channel 10 but was bleeding over too much into channel 9. correct me if im wrong:P
@TheRingwraithe Ch 19 (27.185MHz) is right in the middle of the band. Most people set up the station so that 19/20 channels have the lowest SWR so that they will have relatively the same SWR regardless if you're down on Ch. 1 or up on 40. On a Side note: One bad thing about CB users IMO is that they leave the squelch open so you never get a break from the constant noise of AM. Just because the speaker isn't squealing at you doesn't mean the radio is broken fella's.
@daveski69 Am I only one listening to this guy complaining about 65 mph and thinking "Clown.....the LIMIT is 65....not the MINIMUM. Driver....get an education....
@stretch45g lol no doubt, most Interstates have a MIN speed of 45, he's complaining about 55. Why I outta just slow a bit more and listen to him wine.
A CB radio saved my life years ago. It gave me time to get out of the way when I heard some fuck head was going East Bound in the West bound lanes of I 40 near little Rock . I was going west bound and the car going E/B was in the lane I was in before hearing about the fuck head.
If it wasn't for the guys on the CB radio warning us about the guy I would not have had time to get out of way
Our prayers have been answered!!! Ohio speed limet for us finally will be bumped up to 65 mph!!! Now to work on those other fucking states and to work on the idle laws. Drive safe my brothers and sisters and watch out for them fucking 4 wheelers!!! Peace!...
od those cabs are up so high i rember hearing about a book that a truck driver wrighting a book on all the things h say people doing in their cars from their cabs
I can tell you that he's telling the truth. Listening to my CB, I've heard stuff like "...there's a hot babe in silver dodge..." and "...there's an awesome goldwing I'd like to have..."

why does channel 19 have so much talk?
mp5masta 2 years ago 3
Because it's the general talk-channel for truck-drivers almostly over the world.
SteveKRK 2 years ago 2
thats the trucker channel
billtheworker 2 years ago
It's the most common channel to talk on besides channel 17. Only channel we can't be on is channel 9, that is police band in most states.
Armysniper360 2 years ago
Channel 19 has been designated as the "information channel" and Channel 9 is for emergencies only.
dsouth01 2 years ago
officially yes. but i've used 9 for banter before.
