I think they have reached a good compramise now. Their records are sounding clean cut and pro but if you miss the old sound of the Cribs go and see them live! Every Cribs fan knows that they are one of the best live bands on the scene because of the energy they put in to perform and in my opinion they sound completely differnt live to how they do on the record. But I love both sounds. Can't wait for the new album...Cheat on me...yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I think this is just progression. And yes, I am a big johnny fan, but I have absorbed three of the cribs past efforts. Personally i loved mens needs but the production was two shimmery. this is sounding much more raw and layered. I love that the jarmans are taking some risks in their voices, and on their guitar approaches and of course their songwriting. sounds excellent.

I'm not convinced with the two new tunes I've heard. Which is a shame because The Cribs have never failed to impress me before. Not sure if them having Johnny around- especially at gigs, is going to improve them. Their new sound is fuller but it doesn't suit them as much, they've lost their charm and charisma and their new tunes are less edgy and punky. Shame coz i love them and i'm seeing them live for the 1st time soon. Really hope the full album is worth a listen.

i saw them a few times in february live and they were just as good with johnny as they were without. i'm a huge johnny marr fan and have loved all his projects but having an extra guitar does drastically change a bands sound both in how full it sounds and the power behind it and although i don't think their ideology has changed the music definately will.

i guess when we get the album we can truely tell whether its for the better but as i said this is a dissapointment but i love we were aborted

i know everyone talks about progression and thats understandable but i just don't think this track truely reflects what people grew to love with the cribs- the loose, lo-fi songs.

Its not a matter really of whether their albums are lo-fi, the production is used to reflect the quality of the songs and it's clear by the progression from The New Fellas to Men's Needs... that they've become so much better, and the leap seen in getting Johnny on board is miles better.
