There are three stages of strides. SPEED PICKUP with each step by landing behind vertical center. LEVEL SPEED by landing in front and taking off in back. SPEED SLOWDOWN by landing and taking off out front. Everyone does it to a limited degree, because it is the only way you can run. Knowing where and how to land will make you faster than the way you learned as a baby by trial and error. Standing off balance while hopping is how you run. More off balance is faster.
