  • Ave Cooper! \m/

  • If this would have come out, after the monster that the song Live and Let Die was a year and a half earlier, the Coop would've been ridiculed. Not even a re-working could save this. It's fascinating hearing it though, so no "like" or "dislike." Thanks for keeping it posted....

  • Until last year, I had no idea that one of my favorite musicians submitted a bond song! This should've been used. Seriously, not to disrespect Lulu or her song, but this one is way better.

  • mmm...gotta admit when i first heard the Lulu's version it stood out cuz it didn't seem to belong to the james bond theme fold, but it just grew on me over time. now, this...gotta say not much of an Alice Cooper fan, but, i really dig this song, in a very retro kind of way.

now, to choose between the two to be used for that movie, in that period of time...i gotta say it's a toss. cooper's song would've worked as well..maybe with a lil different arrangement.

  • I'll admit it's an interesting song, a tad better in itself than the one they used.....but a Bond title song has to be better than that, better than just being able to be used for the title. It has to be able to be used, instrumentally, at other parts of the movie, in scenes, and the Lulu song is superior for that. Further, this one just totally clashes with the opening footage. They might have shot different footage, but maybe it was just easier to find a song that didn't clash.

  • Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!

  • This is a cool song

  • The Lulu version is better. It fits James Bond's character more than this version.

  • Picture this song but with Lulu belting it out instead. I wonder if the Coop would have been up for that. I think it would have worked perfectly, having the sultry yet shouty female vocal but the rest intact.

  • Oh my Fucking God I Can't believe this Existed, & they chose that Horrid piece of POP over it! I used to think Lulu's Version was good, but now.. Oh my Goodness this is about a Billion Times better. I Say Re-Score the Film. While you're at it, Re-Cast it because Roger Moore is shit n'all! Roger Fucking Moore? That Tart? What a Disasterous Film. Lee was Good but he was doing what he does best anyway. All of Roger Moore's Films were Crap Accept Live & Let Die. But only coz he didn't do the brow.

  • I like this version better. Too bad the movie seriously sucked. It could've been good but they somehow managed to screw it up.

  • This would have been a better theme. It's quite simply a better musical score than Lulu's version. She does the best she can with what she was handed, indelibly nailing the "man with the golden gun" phrase, but the score just gets lost and that's the composer's fault.

  • Lulu version of this sonf is FAR BETTER than one!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE...

    oh shit wrong song

  • This song would have been far better than Lulu. Even John Barry admit this was his weakest effort of all the Bond films he did the music arrangements for.

  • this is probably the best bond theme, along with The living daylights, a view to a kill and you know my name. shame it wasn't used.

  • what? up yours.

  • this wasn't a cover, they just did their own versions at the same time to fit the movie and lulu won.

  • cooper rocks!!!

  • If only theyd used this instead of that trite piece of crap that Lulu sung.

  • @ElitePirateUpsilon The Lulu song is pretty cool. This one's good, too, though.

  • Alice Cooper>Anyone

  • Great theme tune (would have been)

But let's remember that this is "only" the skeleton of the song, then if they would have chosen it John Barry would have added strings and even bigger arrangements around the song, makin it even more Bondesque!

  • I'm shocked! I wouldn't have thought that they would have contemplated using Alice Cooper for a Bond theme. I think this would have worked for the opening and then LuLu's version would have been cool for the ending credits.

  • soundss sooooo much better

  • This is way fuckin better.

  • Meh. Personally I feel that Lulu's version better suited the movie, and the fact that I feel woman make the best Bond themes.

  • I had no idea this song existed. I like the SHIRLEY BASSEY version but it wasn't Lulu.

  • Wasn't Lulu? Take a look at 2:18.

  • I apologize for my misinfo. It was Lulu. I got mixed up cuz Shirley Bassey did "Goldfinger", "Diamonds are Forever" and "Moonraker". Busy girl.

  • I'd say the Lulu version was more suitable for the more camp, comedic Roger Moore, James Bond films of the 70's. This would have been more suitable if an actor like Dalton or Craig was playing Bond at the time, but, alas...

  • I think this song would have been better for the movie. Plus, think about this, Live and Let Die was also a campy Bond movie with Rodger Moore and the song for that wasn't campy, it was kinda kickass. lol if only Guns N' Roses was around the 70's, their cover of Live and Let Di was even more kickass.

  • Clearly the better choice.

  • better better better

  • mate if you think its shit song and lyrics its the same as the lulu one.

  • Deffo Better One

    No Doubt About It

  • I LIKE IT

  • A thousand times better the Lulu's version.

  • "it sounds gay " Lulu's version is extremely popular with in the gay community. Go check it out.

"wishy-washy bland, uninteresting, power-lacking pile of shit" I agree with this statement pretty much sums up Lulu's version.

"obviously lacks the judgment of a film producer!!" Film producers choose the songs but the fans make them in to hits, for example the new James Bond song Another Way to Die just flopped chosen by the producers you love.

"DICKWADS" How old are you? five?

  • well, someone lived next to a hor house! male or female? i only know of the female kind!

    bond

  • This by far is better as it isnt sleazy and a publicity stunt like lulus.

  • What album is this off of?

Love Alice and this would have been great!!!

Not only is the song M.W.T.G.G. one of the weakest...So is the title sequence Just SHIT!

  • Its off Muscle of Love

  • Alice is a big Bond fan ..wrote this classic for the movie ..but the idiots passed for Lulu's version

  • OMG I never knew about this song until a few mins ago, although its a good song its just not Bond where as Lulu had that sort of Goldfinger feel about it.

  • haha. wow. you'd think they'd pick this over lulu.

  • This song is the sort of song that would suit a James Bond film. Lulu's wasn't very strong at all.

Look at all the poor bond themes, this, Die Another Day and so on - they have been pop-orientated. This is a strong rock song. It should have been the theme song.

  • I really like Alice Cooper! He is a rock pioneer! Alice has many great songs!

He is a really good golfer!

But, this song is not up to par for a James Bond theme. Hense, it was not used in the film. Sorry, but I call them as I see them.

  • the lulu version is often cited as the weakest of the bond theme songs. I actually think coopers version is on par. Or at least way more than Lulu's.

  • I just feel the music in Lulu's version is much more appropriate for a Bond theme. Alice's version would have fit in really well in a bar sequence with a live band in the same scene. Just like that scene in Live and Let Die, in the Harlem bar... recall?

  • Loads better than LuLu's!

  • This is miles ahead of Lulu's song. MGM and EON made the wrong decision rejecting this song. This would have been great to be added to the long line of Bond songs.

  • Its the vocal additions at 1:27 secs until 2:00 that sounds like a bad horror sitcom from the late 60's. That was probably the time that the MGM/EON guys looked at each other and began shaking their heads.

  • Pretty cool! Blondie's song for "For Your Eyes Only" was also better than the tune they used.

  • My daughter is a major Alice Cooper fan. She was annoyed that this didn't get used. I said to her; "No James Bond film, starring Roger Moore could possibly live up to a title by Alice Cooper!"

  • Every song he's done for a film kicks ass... The one he did for Friday the 13th pt 6 was awesome too...

  • who knows where this could have led...

iron maiden doing the tune for A View To A Kill?

Actually, that would have been awesome!

  • maybe so, but Duran duran's a view to a kill rocked and kicked ass.

  • WOOOT!!!!!!! thanks!! been lookin for this!

  • Lulu's version is probably one of the WORST Bond theme songs EVER. Alice Cooper's unused version is vastly superior. Shame on EON and / or others for the poor decision they made.

  • Always was used to this version since his Flush The Fashion and Muscle of Love Days.

  • Very well done. Alot of people don't know this is what it was supposed to be!

  • Alice Cooper's version is kick ass

  • ..

-- here i tried to make a oo7 figure, anyways great song, heck i dont know why they didnt replace the original theme with this.

  • great song thanks

  • Thanks for putting this out here. I do think that KD Langs song should have opened Tommorrow never dies-not sheryl crowes song-they put KDs at the end of movie. Im 47 and have followed bond since 5 yrs of age, always followed music as well, big alice fan but I feel that lulu version combined with music content, horns sounding like bullets etc, is by far a stronger choice. Of course Id rather go see alice then lulu.

  • Gotta say i prefer Lulu's version. this one is ok but it doesn't say James Bond to me. Unless he was a dirty street hustler.

  • why its not bad at all

  • Parodi, I agree with you completely!! this version by A. Cooper is -- as Leonard Pinthe Garnell (Dan Akroyd) might have said on the 1970s Sat. Night Live -- "Atrocious, putrid, horrid, .... it really sucks the big one!!" Or, as Tim the Sorcerer said in Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "A creature so foul, so cruel, with sharp pointy teeth!!!" :>) :>) :>) Boy, am I ever gonna get some nasty replies now!!!

  • lulu's version of the song is good, but this one is friggen awsome, the only bad mistake the producers ever made, choosing lulu over alice

  • Does anyone have a mp3 of this or know if this was ever published in CD form?

  • Muscle of Love from 1974 I have that album.

    It is good.

  • All bond music is on the dvd pack as a ekstra dvd... Just sertch for bond film music, or go to a record shop ;)

  • Well people. Quit your griping about the choice the producers take. When they made Goldeneye they originally wanted Ace of Base to make the theme song, thank God they changed their mind and hired Tina Turner instead. Ace of Base, sweet lord, were they smoking some potent stuff?

  • lol. Who knows?

  • How the hell could they turn this down over Lulu!?

One of the worst descisions they ever made...

  • I was just thinking I wanted to do this and you beat me to the punch. This rocks!! Thanks for doing this

  • Why do they always choose the most worst song to be theme songs? Real musicans are dismissed while some crap ends to soundtrack. Unbeliavable. This song is great. Alice swings.

  • Pretty bad. Love the lulu track.

  • Hm,can't say that I like Lulu's version which ended up in the movie, but this one is slightly better, which in the end isn't really saying much.

  • This version is so much better then the one they ending up using.

  • So much better than the crappy song they ended up using.Idiots.

  • Brilliant. Much better than the version used in the film.

  • Brutal! Even worse than Lulu's effort.

  • Wow! This is awesome stuff!

  • Muscle ofLove great album

  • It should be noted that this isn't the only time musicians have had a Bond theme turned down - Alice Cooper is joined by Blondie (For Your Eyes Only) and Pulp (Tomorrow Never Dies, with 'Lies' instead of 'Dies' when they released the song - as the original title of the move used "Lies").

Apparently there's a version with Liza Minelli

  • This is a very good song, and I would definitely buy it now if it came out again. In terms of the whole Alice Cooper vs Lulu argument I would actually prefer the Lulu song, although the lyrics are atrocious. Why? The main theme by John Barry - it's superb - it's not his fault they wrote so badly to it. But the theme works, and is classic Bond, and sounds much more better and original than Alice Cooper's effort.

  • Why, oh why, did they pick Lulu over this?

  • i agree this version is so much better, but at the time the producers felt that alice was "too controversial".

  • Thank You.

  • For your eyes only

    Sheena Easton vs Blondie

    They chose Sheena E

The Man With the Golden Gun

    Lulu or Alice Cooper

    They chose Lulu

My question: Who is making these decisions? They should be fired!

  • And for die another day, they picked Madona over anyone else.

  • well they picked Tina Turner over Ace of Base(shivers) for Goldeneye, so they did that right at least

  • Man, someone should have chosen this version over Lulu's bec. this classic song is nice. :-(

  • Apartently they chose Lulu because she is family friendly, but how is shooting people and shagging women family friendly?

  • I get it. But for me this song describes about the "Man with the Golden Gun" as clearly as Lulu's. BTW I respected their decisions anyway.

  • is bond family friendly? no. that is wy bond rules!

  • Yup

  • I've always wanted to hear this! I thank you.

  • Well, you saved me some time, I was about to make this!

  • Alice Cooper rules!
