The Dallas Stars should changes their colors to blue and rename themselves the Lone Stars, and The Wild needs to become the North Stars again and change their colors to green and gold.There's no reason that couldn't work out MLB has 2 Sox teams
@avalanchesuperstar He grew up in suburban Detroit and idolized the Wings... It was his boyhood dream to put on the Winged Wheel and as much as I dislike the Wings myself, I think it's great that he was able to live his dream for a year. He's earned that.
As someone who grew up learning and loving hockey with the Dallas Stars in the mid-90s, a sincere thank you to the Minnesota fans who let us borrow some outstanding players like Mike Modano. It's a shame that our gain came at the expense of so many great fans. To hell with Norm Green.

If Modano wanted to come back to Minnesota, he had his chance. Can't believe he came out with the "N". I wasn't impressed. First Star? Would have been better served going to Lehtonen.
@WannaSeemybadge: the Wild tried to sign him in 2004. The money was never an issue, but Modano wanted a 3 year contract, and Doug would only offer 2 years. Which, in my opinion is reasonable for a player of Mike's age and skill level (let's face it, he's beyond his prime).
that draft class in 88 produced some of the best leaders in hockey, Modano, Linden, Roenick, Brind'Amour, Selane... it's sad to them go but they have paved the way for the future in terms class and standards! good luck to them!!!
What a nice tribute to the best American goal scorer of the game. If he goes, it will be a major loss. I don't know if this would happen, but would the Wild also retire his #9 jersey? Because Mikko Koivu would have to give it up? Just a thought.
im a devils fan, but i have so much respect for the wild and their fans...they really appreciate and love this game and they are a classy organization...hope they get a cup one day
He should have came to the Wild before retiring.

That was a great way to end his career...but he had to ruin it by signing with Detroit!

Awesome! God I wish #1 we wouldnt have lost the NorthStars, #2 even if we did that Modano would have come home when we got the Wild.
And to answer Buzz, they won't retire Koivu's number because Modano was never a Wild player. Should have been (should be) though. ;)

@WannaSeeMyBadge
Well, true I guess. I'm just guessing because Minnesota was where he started. Just a thought, unless Mikko Koivu would allow it.
