Dave, a question .. with your years of experience, what do you think about the judge of people about who is the better guitarist? really do you think that exists the better guitarist?
Every sensible guitarist even if its him or Brian May would say the same, its all down to taste. Sure you can say Yngwie is the best in whatever techniqe he does but then again some would say Santana is the best at something (!!?). Brian May says he thinks Vai is a space age guitarist, but Brian May says his FAVORITE guitarst is Jeff Beck, he never said anyone was the best and I think you allready know this, or you wouldn't have asked. Im not slamming you, just replying. Cheers to a Vai fan.
Really nice lesson Dave! I did notice one thing: I wanted to put some of your podcasts on my Ipod (because I wanted to watch em during class since whe don't do anything there anyway) but Itunes can't find your podcasts on the server :( Thought I'd drop by and say it, because you put the podcast thingy in the description box ;)
After watching you play Ibanez's for all these years, it's awesome watching you play a Gibson Les Paul. Both guitar's are practically orgasmic though, and so is this riff.
Awesome as usual Dave! This was really helpful, hope teaching at GIT is going great! Hey man could you check out my cover of poker face, i actually learned the intro off one of your videos! Let me know what u think. Thanks...... colin \m/
Sometimes I will take a riff and re-design it using half and full step bends in place of a fretted note using vibrato and sustain. Feel each note you play.
Dave, how do you get video and audio quality that high? Your videos look pretty amazing.
Thanks

There is a difference in skill levels, musicality, maturity, experience, but music is art.. not really to be judged.

Love how you were using your right-hand fingers for this riff. Is that something you are focusing on more?

Hey Dave thanks for the awesome lesson!
Just wondering if you could please do a lesson on how play and make vai riffs and licks(for the vai fans). if you could do that, it would be sweet!

I did a riff in the style of Vai, check the index.

This is what I have been doing, and trust me, it works SO well.
This is like one of the most important aspects of improvisation and sounding good.

Firsty Dave, thanks for the lesson. I love the simplicity yet the practicality of it. Dying to buy the new album when you finish it ?
Any chance there will be any printed transcription books to buy in the near future. Im nowhere near even coming close to tabbing you by ear yet.

Dave, just curious and your gear page isn't on the site anymore, so what pickups are you using in the opening and closing song of this vid?
Sounds like a Tone Zone, but I wanna confirm if my ears are as good as I think they are!
TheWhitmore 2 years ago
Those are custom Dimarzios on the orange/black LACS 7
DAVEWEINER 2 years ago
Just tell me you like the Tone Zone. I love this pickup and I respect your opinion enough to get your view on it.
Tone Zone = Dave stamp of approval?
TheWhitmore 2 years ago
I'd have to play it again. Been years.
