    GIANCANA!

  • @OriginalSamples So TRUE!!!

  • TRUE HIP HOP! AWESOME STUFF- this should be played on MTV- not those new school hip hop bullshit tracks!

  • new school hip hop on mtv? old school was from the late 70ies to 1990, new school hip hop was from 1991 to 1998 (also known as the golden age of hip hop)...so how do we call today's hip hop...maybe graduated from school, or millenium school?....there is no synonym for todays hip hop. today there is only commercial rap, rap 'n bullshit, but also a few mc's who still make hip hop, based on the 90's nu skool

  • well its old school now

compared to new shit it is anyway

  • @smokyjoe81 :No disrespect You have the years a little wrong. The Golden Era was from 1984 to 1998. thats when it changed. thats when the corporations took over Hip Hop.

  • i totally agreed but there is no new school hip hop it's new school rap never the less you right about the song

  • what about the Roots and Brother Ali? new artists and songs but still true to the culture

  • i give them credit it's not enough to go around though. back in the day there was enough to go around. and everyone shine everyone is not shining. there are artists still in the shade you feel me?

  • yeah but theres always been wack rappers. now the real emcees are just way more of a minority. i would definitely call the roots hip hop though. those guys grew up when hip hop was great. what they're commin out with is just as hip hop as the old school. also, dont sleep on Brother Ali if you dont know

  • @TheStrawbeery old school rap new school crap these young niggas aint got a clue neither do the labels or the a&rs that are signing this new bullshit

  • @zsimon777 Yeaeee...

  • Rhythm And Poetry.

  • my friend of groove armada has a sample of this song, wow dope

  • Respect for him

its real thats live in new york

  • I was blown away by this cut when it came out. 20 years later it still doesn't sound all that dated. G-Rap is one of the unsung heroes of hip-hop

  • Comment removed

  • He is but the song wasn't produced by him...it was large professor

  • large professor produced this whole album

  • Classic.

  • Dope track, love it since it came out, NY on it's darkest...brilliant....

  • True Crime: New York City love that game

  • This hip hop track is one of my favorites from this duo, they were definitely heavy hitters in the hip hop game back in the day, and this track is a hip hop masterpiece from the 90's, no doubt!!

  • "Drug Dealers driving around lookin' hard

  • brilliant

  • nope

  • Krs 1, Rakim,Kool G Rap,Big Daddy Kane,Chubb Rock,Special Ed, Slick Rick, Craig G, Master Ace, and Chuck D. They are the fathers to these new artist styles of rap, even though a lot of the new artist are garbage now a days. They sold out to the industry commercial pop BS.

  • EPMD?? , CL SMOOTH ??

  • Absolutely. You sound like me :). One thing I've said for a while...is that rap modern rap borrows directly from 87-91. Starting w/ Rakim's smooth flow & intricate rhymes, and ending w/ Naughty's fast style. Everyone since then, has borrowed from those styles. Pun & AZ updated G. Rap's flows around '95 (the last real relevant year of hip hop), but it was directly based on G. Rap's style. Both were great though. MCs since '96 got stuck on that four-bar rhyme garbage (repeating the .

  • same type of rhymes for four bars instead of two), then watered that down even more. Now you just have rappers rhyming four bars w/ no internal rhymes and a multi @ the end of the bar. Rap has gone way downhill.

  • naw it borrows frm 70s-90s

  • Even the rhyme styles of the 70-90's have more in-rhymes than those of today. The rhyme styles of the 70's- the 90's had more rhyme schemes than those of today, too!

  • indeed

internal rhyming was a definite trend as well

  • No doubt, G Rap should be on everyone's top 5. I would love to have this instrumental too

  • pure dope.
