I saw one of these fall over NC a few months back.. It lit up the area with flashes like that but it was falling so slowly I could barely tell it was moving.. I ran in and got my camera but by that time it was moving behind trees in the distance :( .. Kinda odd that this one got so much attention and noone mentioned the one I saw though. They just reported loud booming noises the next day.

@Btknows75 several million earthquakes occur in the world each year. Many go undetected because they hit remote areas or just have very small magnitudes. On average there are 15 earthquakes with a magnitude of 7-7.9 in a year. In 2009 there were 16, and this year ( so far ) there have been 6 or 7.
