Guys just taste whale meat and you will love it! And in Greenland they actually eat the whale skin as a delicatesse and I have tasted it, mmm it is so good. And I ask isn't it better to eat ecolocically hunted whale than swine, cows and chicken that are mass produced and have never been free? It is all about sustainability, it is so much better for the world that we use the nature in a sustainable manner, remember that Icelanders are few and they hunt for their homemarket, therby save CO2

Why don´t you just start producing whale then? Whale is hunted in a sustainable manner in Iceland, and has been for centuries. I think that it is important to sustain a culture just as it is important to sustain a species. Icelandic authorities have in place a very efficient and good fishing system that ensures that no species in Icelandic oceans is over fished. Something other countries should learn about, and is also a reason for that cod still exists in Icelandic waters. Sustainability!

Why does Iceland continue to kill whales?

-They do it in a pathetic attempt to hold onto the past so that they can continue to identify with their bloody legacy of whaling.

-It is a blood sport to them and a way of indulging in the sadistic pleasure of killing whales and thumbing their noses at other nations.

-Killing whales is the pursuit of little people with small minds with a lust to destroy creatures more intelligent and more beautiful than themselves.

whales are not a resource just like any other. they are wandering mammals that are not locked withing borders. so even though one nation pretends to monitor and make sure they do not over whale, then there is no guarentee that the next nation will.

As for Iceland's record, well the cod stocks were almost wiped out, the haddock stocks are at risk, the capelin stocks have almost dissapeared, should I continue ?

the Icelandic fishing management has been governed partly with greed. I did not state the Iceland had wiped out the cod stocks, but almost did. How are the Capelin stocks doing Mr. Minuz1? almost non existent at the moment

look, we can't even count how many humans are on the earth, so we def. can't keep account of animals! I'm also trying figure out what animal wouldn't be "wandering mammals" if they weren't confined by chain link fences, pet beds, scratch posts, kennels, etc.  I love animals, and do think that humans are responsible for ensuring their lives, and when they are abused and mistreated, humans should be disciplined! I just don't value their lives more than or even think animals' lives R = 2 humans.

They say Hrafna-Flóki gave Iceland the name Iceland to keep the land to himself, and Greenland given it's name to attract more inhabitants. Many people think that Iceland and Greenland should switch names, as Greenland is covered with snow, and Iceland is covered with green plants and grass :D
