The human population might be 6 billion but you have to look at the bigger picture, which is:
29% of Earth is land mass. Of that 29% humans occupy less than 1% of that area. LESS THAN 1%!! Of the remaining 28% about 40% is pure wilderness. 14% is true desert and 15% has desert like characteristics. 9% is Antarctica. Most of the remaining 22% are agricultural areas.
Guys just taste whale meat and you will love it! And in Greenland they actually eat the whale skin as a delicatesse and I have tasted it, mmm it is so good. And I ask isn't it better to eat ecolocically hunted whale than swine, cows and chicken that are mass produced and have never been free? It is all about sustainability, it is so much better for the world that we use the nature in a sustainable manner, remember that Icelanders are few and they hunt for their homemarket, therby save CO2
Why don´t you just start producing whale then? Whale is hunted in a sustainable manner in Iceland, and has been for centuries. I think that it is important to sustain a culture just as it is important to sustain a species. Icelandic authorities have in place a very efficient and good fishing system that ensures that no species in Icelandic oceans is over fished. Something other countries should learn about, and is also a reason for that cod still exists in Icelandic waters. Sustainability!

Why does Iceland continue to kill whales?
-They do it in a pathetic attempt to hold onto the past so that they can continue to identify with their bloody legacy of whaling.
-It is a blood sport to them and a way of indulging in the sadistic pleasure of killing whales and thumbing their noses at other nations.
-Killing whales is the pursuit of little people with small minds with a lust to destroy creatures more intelligent and more beautiful than themselves.
-It's a resource just like any other, a sustainable one, the whales we are killing are not anywhere close to extinction.
-Killing whales isn't worse than other bad things we do to keep ourselves alive, like breeding and slaughtering other mammals, like cattle and sheeps.
-The waters around Iceland are getting overrun with whales who eat ALOT of our fish
-We don't like people pushing us around by stupid emotional arguments. We have great respect for life here in Iceland, that is, human life!

whales are not a resource just like any other. they are wandering mammals that are not locked withing borders. so even though one nation pretends to monitor and make sure they do not over whale, then there is no guarentee that the next nation will.
As for Iceland's record, well the cod stocks were almost wiped out, the haddock stocks are at risk, the capelin stocks have almost dissapeared, should I continue ?
the trawlers with their bottom cleaning nets are killing the fish, not the whales
Icelandic fishing management is the best in the world. We have not cleared our cod stocks or any other stock of fish in the seas around our country, opposed to many other nations.
You are wrong on all accounts and keep spreading ignorant statements.
the Icelandic fishing management has been governed partly with greed. I did not state the Iceland had wiped out the cod stocks, but almost did. How are the Capelin stocks doing Mr. Minuz1? almost non existent at the moment
Iceland is a greedy little place, look what happened to the economy, just pure and plain greed. Look how the prices are being jacked up, in an attempt to get as many euros and dollars from the tourists as possible
Iceland lacks management skills, no cooperate skills at all
Oh and this „ Iceland is the BEST COUNTRY in the world ! , „ Icelanders are the BEST PEOPLE in the world ! mentality has got to stop. You are people just like any other people on the planet
When foreigner nations were warning you about the fragility of your economy, then the Icelandic response was„ Foreigners do not understand how the ICELANDIC ECONOMY works or „the Foreigners are just JEALOUS !
Wake up !
Icelanders are great and good people, but come on, not the BEST or BETTER
look, we can't even count how many humans are on the earth, so we def. can't keep account of animals! I'm also trying figure out what animal wouldn't be "wandering mammals" if they weren't confined by chain link fences, pet beds, scratch posts, kennels, etc. I love animals, and do think that humans are responsible for ensuring their lives, and when they are abused and mistreated, humans should be disciplined! I just don't value their lives more than or even think animals' lives R = 2 humans.
It's good to hear that someone still care about humans. As someone who works in nonprofit, it's amazing how much money we loose to help keep families toghether, house the [human] homeless and help improve children's education...
