I noticed the huge fire extinguisher in the background. Perhaps it could have been positioned for emergency use near the guy with the headset - who may wish to change out of his shorts & tee shirt and get into some more protective gear. Those Curtis R-3350 radial engines are notorious for their pyrotechnics on the ground and in the air. Sometimes those Connies were called the "world's largest trimotor" as they seemed to land with just three props turning and one burning.
