  • Jim you're such a sick guitarist, from Kalum.

  • @nomax345 Thanks dude! :D Hope everything's going well for you! You're going to University from what I remember? Good luck for results day, I hope it goes smoother for you than mine did. I'll catch you later.

  • the song is called killing in the name. there is no of in the title

  • @SkatePreston ID3 tags were wrong I didn't really think to check rigorously - my bad.

  • How did you get the whammy effect?

  • @vonnicolai: It's called "octave" Steve Vai and others use this affect to get those high pitched notes which aren't on the neck but are done by digital enhancement... In this song Tom Morrello uses just a +1 octave increase - which the Boss ME50 has.

Otherwise I used the floyd rose for added expression...

  • @wj4m32 Do you mean the expression pedal? (+1 octave setting)

  • NICE!!!!!!!

  • nice cover (: in my opinion I quite like the RG370DX, just my opinion. Love Ibanez (: I now people have some negative views on this model but I quite like it

  • very impressive.

this is my favorite cover you have done.

  • Thanks! :D

  • good job. did you have a phaser on the guitar?

  • Sorry I been really busy...

    Yeah that's right :)

Though I can't remember if I used two presets for this or reduced the rate once I started the main riff...

    Thanks

    Jim,

  • im not kidding i literally peed myself :P

  • or just a 3p2

  • You missed one note at the riff but everything else is good!

  • haha very nice, spot-on tone (from what i can tell) and you stayed with morello the whole time. 5stars

  • Thanks for the feedback! :D

Yeah I was using the same brand of effects.

It's fairly easy to get the same effects sound with the ME50, for this song, so long as U know the effects of the settings you can work everything out by ear. :)

(I also see from your Profile you're from MIT?)

    Thanks again

    Jim,

  • Is this guitar worth getting

  • In my honest opinion, it's a great guitar...

If you're willing to spend more I might have baught an Ibanez S320 for the improved trem and slimmer body.

    It's all good though...

The pickups are pretty good all round for what I want.

There are better pickups but the guitar sounds even better though a good valve amp.

    Jim,

  • you very nice man!!

  • Thanks :)

  • dude right on target nice playing. and the sound is kool

  • Thanks :)

  • cool. favourite song. keep er lit wee man !!

  • Great! Thanks :)

  • how much it's an Boss ME50 ?? thanks!

  • At the time I got it, which was with a discount...

    Unit: £160

    Power Supply: £24

    Jim,

  • thats hella fuckin good man

  • Thanks! :)

  • tellu wat m8

u doin this cover definatly puts bands like mcfly and fall out boys covers sound shite!!!

    keep playin m8

    peace

  • Hey! Thanks mate,

Personally I still find the Floyd is difficult to keep tuned but it's been better scince I replaced the Tension Screws at the back with some better ones.

It does it's job once the strings have settled, but it takes a while.

At the moment it's not retaining tuning which is why I've not had new Videos for a while.

It just takes patients and time. I think the Ibanez S series Guitars, have a much better Floyd Based system.

    Hope that helps!

    Jim,

  • I LOVE ALL UR VIDEOS U ROCK!!!

  • Haha :D

    Cheers mate ;)

    Jim,

  • with the palm mutes, is it the boss pedal that creates that sick sound?

  • Hey,

Yeah, pretty much any Distortion should do the same.

It just so happens that Tom Morello does use Boss Pedals just in Single units...

For the Solo you need an Octave Pedal which will do +1 Octave to hit the High pitch notes.

    Jim,

  • nice men!

  • Hey,

    Thanks buddy! ;)

    Jim,

  • Amazing!

  • Cheers mate! :D

  • Cheers ;)

  • mint sound dude. Rock man Rock. I want an Ibanez!!!!

  • Cheers dude!

Keep practicing Eugines Trick [Bag/Box], that's a damned good bit of non-distorted/gain ruined bit of soloage as I'd call it.

haha :D yeah I spent all of ~£300 on it.

I got it including: new strap, 6m lead & wall hanging bracket so yeah... :)

    Jim,

  • man where do u have got the tab from the solo cos it sounds awesome

  • Right,

I actually baught the Album Tab Book -

It's their first album -> "Rage Against the Machine".

Tip is: Think of Power Chords taking the root and the Major 7th, but playing on the G and E String.

I can provide a Tab just hit a Message because it'll take a good hour or so to put it up with some background and help ;)

    Cheers mate!

    Jim,

  • Sorry - I forgot to say,

The Solo requires an Octave Pedal that can go +1 Octave. So, don't expect to hit the really high Pitches like Morello on the Track IF you just have a Guitar and NO Pedal to aid it.

You'll sound really out but you'll be playing the Right notes, I dunno you maybe able to Emulate it with a Finger slide but it would be difficult.

    Jim,

  • wow, really cool!

  • Cheers! :)

  • Damn

  • :D

Glad you liked that one :)

    Jim,

  • I am too

  • Cheers mate!

Sorry I been busy latey! Haven't replied to comments for a while.

    Glad U liked it :D

    Jim,

  • This was a great cover! Not only that, your tone is spot on to my ears. I really liked this cover. cheers.

  • Whoa thanks!

It tooks me a good couple of goes for this one.

I am a big fan of Rage :) and I've been tweaking that tone for years of playing Rage :D

All credit to my Boss-ME 50... tbh :)

I thank you and others for such great reception of my Video :D I love all the responses

    Jim,

  • I do not own an ME 50, but you said its been years of tweaking that tool yes? Is your settings something you would be willing to post? and if you did not want to I would understand that.

  • Nah it's cool!

This video was a while back so ...

I am pretty sure I used these (give or take a bit):

    Tone Modify: - "Enhance"

    Distortion: Metal (MT2) - Drive(Gain) 75-90%, Bottom ~80% and Tone 75%.

On the intro it uses a bit of ->

Modulation - Phaser - Rate: Very low nothing more than 25% more like 10%, Depth 100%, Level 25%.

Optional: dials on 0, it just adds to the crunch of your distortion for the main rythems, add this as a separate preset for easy switching

    Thanks!

    Jim

  • Cool Jim. That was nice of you! I will keep these settings in mind if I get an ME50 and give credit where credit where credit is due.

  • hey m8 its DAN here

well done that was really coooooool

wish i could play drums as well as u can guitar

    o well

  • thats just kick ass

  • Hey! Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it :D

  • I use a Multi Boss box myself :)

    (Boss ME-50)

    Thanks for watching!

    Hope you enjoyed it!

  • Dude you owned that...very impressed.

  • Hey thanks for the comment!

    Glad you liked the Video!

Sorry I seem to have not replied to this one so quickly xD

  • Its close to perfect i think. Great taste in music ^^ I want to cover this one too.

    *****

  • hehe, I made a few mistakes :D

    Cheers :D

yeah I can possibly give you the Tab that I used too. (if you need it that is) :)

  • sweet. im getting an RG370DX soon, and after seeing you play this and hearing how awesome the tone is, there is no doubt in my mind im getting one

  • Cool,

Just bear one thing in mind,

balancing a Floyd Rose takes some getting used to if you haven't used one before.

Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it

  • how do you like that guitar im thinking about picking one up

  • I think its pretty good for it's money, getting used ot the Floyd Rose took time.

You have to love one tuning and stick with it on the whole with a Floyd Rose Bridge, you'll be able to get down 1/2 or maybe 1 step down with abit of effort (Metal stuff uses that kind of tunig)...

You won't get anything different or better (as such) for the same price.

If you're prepared to go for something in the £500/700 region, I would suggest the RG2550 because of the better Bridge and stuff.

    Jim,

  • Check out my page ;)

    I use an Ibanez RG370DX,

    Boss ME50 Multi-Effects,

    Stagg Leads,

    Sennhiser Headphones,

I don't record using an Amp + Mic, I use the direct Line Out from my Effects box. ;)

    Hope that helps!

  • nice one, you're comin on great man, ill post some soon for you to watch m just a wee bit lazy lol.

  • haha thanks :)

I'll look forward to seeing your videos mate :D

I'm very lazy as well, so no worries xD

I've been able to play Rage songs for 3/4 years.

I uploaded this because I saw similar Videos around and knew I could play this particular tune :P

  • Nice one jim, sweet guitar you got fuckin mintin

    Koolim

  • Thanks mate :)

  • Fake.

  • Not at all

  • Thanks :)

one draw back, if you aren't used to a Flody Rose system, see a gitar tech.

I got half of my 'Sound' from my Effects Pedal to be Truthful.

Used Octiva +1 for the Solo, and Flanger for the Intro. if you want a detail of the settings I use, I'll mail you :)

I would try keeping your palm on the bridge of your guitar, and doing string skipping exersices, with on an off Muting.

I started with muting single strings up/down scales.

work it up to chords, hopefully that'll help!

    Jim,

  • f*cking sweet dude lol great job

    Scotty

  • Thanks man :)
