  • 6:15 This is Museum of Natural History in Budapest.

  • This just proves that there's sick shit happening to people all over the world, not just north americans. ppl have often thought that dangerous psychos exists because americans coined it, but in reality, abnormality is the norm in all parts of the world. just that governments are really good at covering it up. nonetheless, this just proves that good justice exists in good governments. it took 10 years to crack a two day case for these commies. lol.

  • , glad they put one in the back of his head = ) They should do it to child molesters and serial killers, there brains work on a totally different level then the rest! IF SOMEONE CAN HURT A CHILD THERE IS NO FORM OF REHABILITATION THAT CAN HELP THEM, THEY ARE SICK AND BROKEN. I say this as the mother of a small child. If someone hurt her i would not stop trying to get at them. I believe if a sicko takes the life of someones child it should then be up to that childs parents what happens to them.

  • I do believe that some people can have one blood type and another semen type....

  • terrific film. thank you very much for posting.

  • "Together you guys make a wonderful person" That is awesome!

  • superb film. thanks for posting

  • glock 17 in soviet union XD

  • One of my favorite scenes ever, the reading of the psych profile to Chikatilo.

  • I dont think a firing squad back than consisted of one man and a pistol.

  • @gihaddd a single shot behind the right ear is indeed how russia did (and maybe still does, not sure) perform executions

  • @choppo41 The Russian Federation has had a Moratorium on executions since 1996

  • monstrous actors and great movie

  • Blunt ending, but how correct it was!

  • @PerfectCellX -I agree, one in the head ,...goodbye. Nickelson's "The Pledge" seems to be based on this story. There is a film on HULU,now that the Pledge is based on,a German or Russian film, quite good.

  • @PerfectCellX -HULU "The Cold Light of Day.".is the same as "The Pledge".is the same as this.

  • That ending!!! Now that's what I call justice!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I just do not believe the variety or posts.

What is wrong with you people?.

If you wanna comment about the movie, positively or negatively, then go for broke.

Everything else, whatever the subject matter, political, racial, religious,-or whatever, just ain't worth crud.

    Schmucks.

    Bloody idiots.

  • 07:00 Cheesy American style ending with applause :D ... I didn't know he got shot in Alcatraz (striped suit ;p). All in all low budget, politicized movie but, I guess, the only one so far. A&E's Biography (also on YouTube) was somewhat better for the facts and less politics. Now, I need to see Evilenko...

  • The subsidisation of homes, education, food, guaranteed employment etc being others. Ask the elderly of ANY ost soviet country when they were better off and I bet I know what they will say because I've travelled to many post CCCP nations. So in conclusion my point is not that commuism is the way forward, BUT nether ws it the bogeyman that many ( particulaly the US ) have portrayed it to be.

  • So we must not confuse Stalinism with what came after. This film portrays soviet citizens and especially the nomenclature as automons breft of feelings for the victims which is stupid. Political systems do not rob people of their emotions and humanity hence its failure to eradicate religion amongst the masses. So my other point is not that communist lands were the lands of milk and honey, but there were benefits of communism and strict govemental control. Crime control being one.

  • Where I believe our debate started ( bu deviated from ) is this films lazy intepretation of life in communist Russia circa the Brezhnev/Gorbachev era. We must not confuse the USSR of that time with the USSR of the 30s,40s,50s. Kruschev brought in a thaw internally with the secret speech which denounced Stalin as a murderer and tyrant. A rule of law was introduced and people no longer simply dissapeared in black marias in the middle of the night ( although abuses still happened ).

  • Well we have found some common ground atlast! I agree that our government in the uk give power to criminals,it's disgraceful. In the UK if i beat up a burglar in my home i will be prosecuted! Insane. I agree that the UK has a less then great history too where human rights are involved, I believe we invented the concentration camp in the Boer wars in south africa. Shamefull. I agree that Stalin was a monster as was Mao. I'm no apologist for these psycopaths, never will be.

  • That was a bizarre ending. They didn't tell us anything about the other characters.

  • that psychiatrist was brilliant

  • @rocksoliddude1 If you don't recognize him at first, he is indeed Max Von Sydow. He is famous for his role as Father Merrin. The Exorcist.

  • @philster61 yeah i thought i had seen him before. this film has got a lot of good actors

  • The actor playing Chikatilo is so good that the acting is invisible. You really have to shake your head like a wet dog to fully grasp that he is NOT Chikatilo.

  • @ericr50, you obviously grew up at the time of the mcarthy commie trials! Travel and read more and you might just learn something. Probably think Fidel is evil too right!

  • @vorkutaman I'm only 40 so I hardly think so, a bit before my time. Yes he is, 20,000 unarmed dissidents, arrested tortured and killed under his reign under his "re-education program". Communism- responsible for the deaths and murders of millions of people globally, do some more research while you chew on that one.

  • @vorkutaman "Travel and read more"- and learn what? Oh great keyboard intellectual! The already obvious that communism is a great lie, deception and failure brought forth upon humanity that always leads to an abuse of power. That's it's core belief a rejection of individuality, an intrisic part of being human, is inhumane, illogical and unethical. That the state will admit no wrong, as this movie clearly illustrates, which could have saved the lives of dozens of this sicko's victims.

  • @vorkutaman Yes freedom abounds for the people of Cuba, where the internet is so restricted you have to have permission from the military dictatorship/quasi communist government to use it,while they closely monitor you. Speaking of travel, until recently Cuban citizens weren't even allowed to travel abroad. I'm wondering how life is so much bettter there than the free democratic societys of the US or UK where one can speak his mind politically without being arrested or tortured.

  • @ericr530 Lol! Is America democratic and let's people travel freely? Try going to Cuba, oh wait your government dictates you are not allowed! The US propped up Batista in Cuba,a vile murderer who turned his country into a brothel and casino for US citizens, but that's ok because he bought your weapons! Democracy right there Eric, doesn't it make you proud!!!!

  • @ericr530 The confusion you are making is believing the director's lazy interpretation of facts wherein the common people and in particular party members are portrayed as bereft of feelings, cold automons who put the party before all else when infact it was not like that. Ive travelled and lived in burma, china, belarus, russia and found the people warm and friendly beyond my fellow english citizens.

  • @vorkutaman there is no confusion here "mate" The failling communist system in Russia targeted homosexuals, much as Germany did during WWII. And the list goes on. During this investigation, probably 3-4 yrs. were spent targeting gays when the answer was right in front of them. You are a sickening individual , you live under a free democratic society, well not as free as I do in the US but a fairly free society. You act like all acquired wealth is an abombination, you are misguided errant spew

  • @ericr530 haha, pathetic! Yes you're country has a great track record with it's treatment of minorities and homosexuals! Are gays allowed in your armed forces?!! And let's face it during the soviet period blacks in your country were LYNCHED! You must be proud.Oh and please tell how you are more free in the US then in the UK! A country where people in your capitol city can't even vote and your government dictates that you are not allowed to visit certain countries, not to mention executing minors

  • @vorkutaman My apology that was a little harsh. You seem to be throwing a lot of red herrings into the argument. At least in my country I have the right of self preservation, your country expects you to lay down for criminals. Lest you forget, your country had slaves from Africa before mine. The treatment of minorities in your country certainly has not been "stellar" either, and let's not forget about India under Ghandi, where many innocents were murdered by your countrymen.

  • @vorkutaman Many countries besides the US have produced, sold and used chemical weapons. The Germans used them against my country's military and yours, have you forgotten? We execute people over the age of 12 because clinical psychologists admit this is the age where an individual knows right from wrong. You country is weak on crime typically handing out lighter prison sentences than my country for violent offenders. You countries economy runs on oil too whether you like it or not.

  • @vorkutaman Yes someone has to be the babysitter unfortunately. We can go on to no end what my country and you country has and has not done but that is not the subject here. The subject is communism. I was pointing out how insane it is to support a system of failure that has cost the lives of multiple millions of people around the globe. How many Europeans, especially youth and young adults who live in free democratic societies could value a system of tyranny and murder historically is insane.

  • @ericr530 You lack the inteligence to win so just go back to your childlike innocence of believing you live in a shining beacon of democracy ( just forget that your nation carries out state sanctioned torture, sold chemical weapons to dictators, crushes democratic movements in foreign countries if they don't agree with US policy, props up regimes that sell you oil,etc.etc.etc.etc.etc...) whilst all the time thinking everyone else is living under tyranny! You are nothing but a fool and a bore.

  • @vorkutaman I liken this to a fad or t-shirt of the week. Communism at the very least as an economic sytem is an utter failure. Millions starved in the Ukraine under Stalin, Castro himself admitted in the early 1980's that communist economic policies were a failure in his country and China's economy behaves like a free market system. Capitalism is far from perfect but at least it puts money in the hand to whom it belongs, the folks that earned it.

  • @ericr530 I'm happy to continue this debate but prefer to do it by PM, writing in these small boxes is a pain in the ass.

  • This movie Citizen X is great, i just wish we would do what they done when your found ( GUILTY!! ) LUV the END!!!

  • @djbot420 YES. I totally agree. If there is 100% GUILT, NO SHADOW of doubt, why not?

  • Actually it only took the psychologist 2 hours to break him.

By the way - I've just fallen in love with Stephen Rea all over again when I saw this film again. There is just something so compelling about his acting

  • Watch out Eric - they're under your bed.

Thanks for posting StuffedMannequin - great film.

  • @fetidbrainwaves They better hope not that's where I keep my shotgun.

  • Great movie, very underrated, superb acting. It also exposes the evil, corruption, and hypocracy of communism.

  • Why wasn't he bald at the end??

  • A super, though underrated film

  • Some poetic license in the making of the film but, overall, an excellent depiction of something too horrible to fully reproduce on screen. Lest we forget, thank you for posting this video.

  • thank you very much for uploading this. thank you.

  • Why did they portray a handgun used as an execution weapon? It was a rifle...

  • The actor who plays Andrei Chikatilo looks like my grade 9 art teacher, Mr. Amar. 0.0

    Love this movie though =)

  • @CheesyPoophs It IS Mr Amar!

  • 53 dead not 52

he actualy confessed to at least 56 murders

but 3 bodies were not found

  • When someone is as sick as he obviously was there is no point leaving them to live.

  • One of the best TV movies that I have ever seen!!! I have it on DVD and I LOVE IT!!

  • wow very powerful scene....when he breaks down

  • Thanks for putting this up! Really appreciate it. :)

  • Can somebody please get the tilex ?

  • Awsome movie. Wikipedia has some good info about this sicko. Makes you wonder why our own judicial system doesnt do the same thing WHEN THERE IS PROOF WITHOUT A DOUBT. Why let them appeal? They've proven they cant be part of society. Why not take em out back and put a 75 cent bullet in their head (& thats still too much to spend on a P.O.S.) instead of wasting tax payers dollars. We should start giving more rights back to the victims and their families rather than empowering the criminal.

  • @irisharcher74 Yessssss I couldnt agree with you more ! why do we pay for them to sit in jail and get to eat three meals and yet even use the net its so wrong , i love how they did it over there guilty and then gone right away , what is our world coming to eh!

  • @irisharcher74

because they shot three innocent people for this guys crimes.

  • @irisharcher74 Sounds like a downhill path towards systems like China.

  • @irisharcher74 this year, the ´criminal´and the victim are both respected equally and valued equally.

But unlike last year, in 2010, people are realizing with increase that everyone is guilty and that there are no innocent people.

  • I believe her - I do believe that some people can have one blood type but another semen type.

  • @mzedong001 Interesting discussion here. DNA can be taken from blood, semen, whatever... It's true, some people have more than 1 DNA in tests... one of my professors is currently working on her PhD in criminology and this is her topic. She goes to seminars all over the country a few times a year where they specifically discuss how some people have more than one DNA sequence when they do DNA profiling and it creates a problem.

  • This was a great movie. Very interesting. I love how the ol' psychiatrist finally broke him down. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Great movie.

  • 10:33 HEADSHOT

  • Great movie! Thanks for posting. I used to borrow this from the library and I read "The Killer Department" afterwards. This is one definitely one of my favorite movies. There's an interview with Burakov on one of the Chikatilo documentaries (A&E or something) and he comments on "Citizen X." He was an amateur boxer and looked pretty tough so I think he was amused to be portrayed by Stephen Rea who comes across as a more sensitive type. Thanks again

  • I agree with Veronica. Thank you for posting it.

  • Excellant film haven't seen it for years tyou so much its a very underrated film and the acting is superb

  • excellent movie, thank you so much for showing it here.

  • thnx for putting this on youtube. noticed a misstake, tho, he should have been shaven in the courtroom cage

  • At least, this character has a lot in common with his original. It's impossible to find any similarity with real Rostov. Holliwood guys are filming, as always, a devastated Transilvanian village in a ruined Bulgarian back-yard.

  • this is what hapends when guys dont get laid enaught

  • lol

  • I'm very glad this what put up. I've wanted to see this film for years. It's a shame it was a Television-Movie because most people overlook those as a work of film. Personally it's probably one of the most underrated films I've ever seen, very very compelling and engaging. Jeffrey DeMunn has always been one of my favorite underrated actors, and in this, his performance is worthy of a Supporting-Actor Oscar. It's also very historically accurate for the most part.

  • It's accurate for the investigation story, but the picture and dialogues are just like all other cranberry movies filmed in a Romanian Gipsy village or in ruins of a Bulgarian factory.

  • @verkenderkraftwerk2 Spot on my friend

  • @verkenderkraftwerk2 I agree! Really uncanny resemblance!

  • @verkenderkraftwerk2 I think this is a G-rated version, I remember the original being more graphic, am I wrong?

  • what's this movie about?

  • Are you seriously stupid or what?

  • seriously? you don't have to be a dick. i just haven't seen the movie.

  • its about giraffes

  • @DKMAN86 its about this sicko soviet killer

  • great movie

  • awesome movie

  • So courteous, please step through the door . Please dont turn around ,and then BLAM! Love this movie, thanks!

  • Damn good movie

  • thanks for uploading - great work!

  • Great movie!

  • Thank you for posting this!
