  • down here in Sao Paulo, Brazil, we have motorbikes for everything, from police to firemen and EMS since the traffic jams are huge, they are pretty useful!

  • A Honda Pan-European (aka) ST1300, easily handles the EMS first response gear...they're also used as Fire Dept first response vehicles in some countries, with a couple small extinguishers, booster line, 30gal tank, etc.

  • @horizoneatsun14 IT REALLY ANNOYS ME AS WELL!

  • @horizoneatsun14 YES! YES! YES! NO WT WRONG WITH YOUR EYESIGHT THEN!!

  • Seems like a great idea, some pros and cons. But I like it.

  • Picture being unconscious and not breathing on the ground.....within minutes you'll be DEAD......so a dash to hospital is pointless, Dr's can't do anything with a dead body.

People often think it's still 1950 ....in the 21st century paramedics can provide advanced life support care including a range of drugs.

Motorcycles enable a paramedic to get there and initiate medical care before you die.

Sadly people all over the world still think an ambulance is a taxi with pretty lights.

  • @jad01jad01 - best reply yet! Glad someone has a brain!

  • respect to paramedics worldwide!

  • You would be surprised how little kit an ambulance carries.

  • about 350 diff things

  • Do you realise how small that shit is? Very little of the kit that isnt required to transport or move a patient cant fit on a bike. Defib, drug bag, trauma bag, oxygen. Thats the grand total.

  • yea but they cary 350 things because it a lot better isent that obvious to u

  • @JasonCrossie And guess what, most of those things fit into about 4 mediums sized bags. Small oxygen cylinder, and various masks, rebreather and suction. Trauma kit including bandages, cannulas, saline, OPAs LMAs, splints etc. Drug bag, including 25 or so drugs (give or take, depends which service and what level of training), Defib and heart monitor. That lot, depending on the call, all gets carted into the house or scene. Thats usually all that is needed on scene. provided by the support unit.

  • @JasonCrossie (continuing)The RRU will be backed up by a vehicle that can transport the patient if necessary. Things not carried include a stretcher, wheelchair and spine board etc These things are needed to transport the patient so will be provided by the support/transport vehicle. There ARE a couple of hundred different (small) items in those bags, which on that bike are contained in the panniers.

  • i do no what im saying is that its obvious

  • That thing can't hold too much equipment, can it?

  • you would be surprised, the push bikes we use had, O2, gass and air, defibrilators, suction units, all you'll need for ELS

  • Wow, thanks for telling me, I didn't know that. It looks so small, but it actually carries quite a bit.

  • Those comments below can't be serious lol

  • paramedic bike? that doesnt make any sense!

  • Why is that??..you wouldn't say that if you were in need of a medic at 5pm on a Friday evening and the roads in London were gridlocked?

  • Obviously they are intended to arrive at the scene quicker than an Ambulance, saving vital minutes, only the Ambulance can transport patients to the hospital! ;-$

  • @twizy123 They're all Chiropracters, they fold you up and put you in one the rear boxes.

  • @twizy123 if you look this u would understand: /watch?v=xqWJagD4BFc&feature=channel

  • @twizy123 Where I live (The Netherlands) we've had ambulance bikes for a couple of years now and initially a lot of people had the same response. However, especially in old town centers with narrow roads or areas with heavy traffic, a bike has many advantages. They can do anything a regular ambulance can, except transport patients. Getting to the scene fast can make the difference between needing an ambulance or a hearse for transport.

  • @twizy123

There is sense...Imagine that...it's about 3-6 o'clock PM, all the city is suffering terrible trafic jam, so who gonna be faster (in for example heart arrest), the papramedic on the bike, or an ambulance??...If You have the situation that the ALS algorhitmes are required...the bike has almost the same as the ambulance have (respirator, defibrilator, intubate kit, drugs, etc) ;)
