  • THEN MAY THE CHRISTIAN LORD GUIDE MY HAND, AGAINST YOUR ROMAN POPERY! - That is the climax of that scene to me!

  • its Abraham Lincoln

  • lol what is happening in this movie is happening right now world-wide but especially in the US. The so called "natives" are kicking out everyone who isn't white. Pathetic.

    Classic movie though.

  • @DBlockn05 Sorry here in the real world that is not happening.

  • @trottheblackdog umm yea it kinda does and this is based on actual fact around mabe 1800s

  • @DBlockn05 That is the biggest line of bullshit. I'm white and it's not a matter of being "kicked out" it's a matter of being sold out. I don't see much unity at all in our country, especially among other whites.

  • daniel day lewis not only get academy awards also top movember of all time lol

  • Natives > Baseball Furies

  • @SuperJWinn So does that mean Dead Rabbits > The Warriors

  • The Butcher would be an awesome President.

  • Daniel Day Lewis vs Liam Neeson

The fight for the Abraham Lincoln role! lol

  • @bender1011001 This may be very well one of the finest performances of all time.

  • Tiocfadh ár lá

  • @shaolinmonkODB Anymore words of the lingo or is the only catchphrase you can come up with?

  • Oh man, how many times have I seen this opening & NEVER got tired of it?! :D

  • you could cut the testosterone with a knife!... Awsome film!

  • @vhr513 ah i havent seen That movie yet. so you think he just didnt do as good in this as he did in That movie?

  • @vhr513 o.o really? i actually thought he was Awesome in this movie.

  • 4 paddies watched this video

  • So daniel Day lewis fights for the American front including new york in "last of the mohicans" and here he is again fighting for his NewYork rights :)

  • Truth is, the Irish, as stupid as our beliefs were, were more committed and more masculine than the "natives" dreamed a man could be. Give us that.

  • @Mustacheftw yeah credit to the paddies, they never seem to give up fighting. Even if their 'methods' don't always seem right.

  • God...I want Daniel's hat!....and him, teehee

  • Clinkity, Clink. Great Top Hat Bill. Forget De Squigio, You Da MAN!

  • "Roaming Potpourri"?!?!?!

  • @KroninKarr Roman Popery. He is insulting their Roman Catholic faith.

  • @deezlesteezle yeah. duh. joke.

  • @KroninKarr Sorry, but you did sound THAT stupid. By your reply I am somewhat inclined to think that you are.

  • @deezlesteezle No one in the history of the entire interwebs has ever made a homonyminous wisecrack comment ever. It doesnt happen. The brevity of my reply was not out of some deficiency in my intellect it was a sheer lack of effort based on the unimportance of yours. However now you have me interested. I infer by the manner of your comment that you yourself are a roman catholic and that is why you are so offended. You find no humor in it and so by my making light of it you were offended again.

  • @KroninKarr ROFL!! you are FUNNY!! quit trying so hard and laugh.

  • @KroninKarr Haha, and no one has ever made such a hyperbolic declaration... By the way, do you mean homonymous? Tautological nonsense...Anyway, I don't know what my religeon has to do with this, but if you must know, I am Presbyterian. I took offense at your response at my genuine attempt to inform you of what he said. SO sorry I didn't identify your comment as to be burlesque... Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.

  • For NY 1863 read Belfast circa 1975

  • is this where bioshock infinite got their storyline from

  • how the fuck did adrien brody get chosen over this? answer: the jews control hollywood (and I don't mean that as an insult).

  • @IsaacH1273 Two flaws with your theory: 1. Day-Lewis is 1/2 jewish and 2. Gangs of New York was produced by the Weinsteins and they're notorious for campainging heavily for their movies during awards season.

  • @IsaacH1273 You watch Brody's movie? he was awesome.

  • Any pro fighters or ufc guys wanna play real man with these guys?

  • fuck you americans he is english

  • @3rixtat3 Okay, now stop watching American movies you dumb brit.

  • @VolcardoReviewer fuck you we have much better actors

  • @3rixtat3 go watch your gay british shit, and stop listening to our music and watching our movies.

  • @VolcardoReviewer you mean the gay british shit that stars orlando bloom daniel day lewis christian bale christipher lee ian mcellan sean bean guy pierce ect.

  • @3rixtat3 you can take all your shit talent and go back to europe pussy's. Even Harry Potter is from Warner Bros. So go fuck yourself. We own you bitches. so shut up. You watch our movies, listen to our music, and follow our culture. So once again shut up fool.

  • @VolcardoReviewer follow your culture? your a bunch of fat people suing mc donalds because "they made them fat" and when your done with that go fuck your sister in texas then go to your kkk meeting...you dont even have any honorable history. the only reason you helped win the world war is because you didnt have the balls to fight and then felt like joining in when hitler had killed millions. at least we had the honor to fight him as soon as he started killing millions of jews.

  • @3rixtat3 KKK? says the bitch who ruled slaves for centuries. Also who was talking about WW2? Oh and besides if America didn't help your ass you can be licking your sorry ass good bye. Nazi's would be ruling your shitty island. Tell me this, why is Daniel Day lewis acting in american movies. why is Orlando Bloom acting in American movies, why is the kid from Harry Potter living in New York? Oh and why is Robert Pattinson living in Los Angeles? You know why? Because your shit island sucks.

  • @VolcardoReviewer the english and the germans had a honerable even fight you pussy little americans waited for half the germans to die before you could be assed to join in. your pathetic country is renowned for having fat people that is why the whole world takes the piss out of you. and atleast our island is "our" island you got yours by driving the native americans out by raping and killing them. we have a proud honorable the only reason you won the american revoltion was by using cowardis.

  • @3rixtat3 . The russians did more damage to the germans than you brits. Oh and the fight was not even. Your island was on the verge of being captured. Churchill begged america to help, and we did. Oh and the only reason America joined was because japan attacked us. We didnt give a shit about europe prior. Oh and you still haven't answered my question. if ur island is soo good why do your celebrities move to america? face it, America is better than Britain.

  • @VolcardoReviewer WWI this and WWII too that. The fact is, the very language you use to argue against and besmirch others tells it's own tail as to who has ultimately won and lost. And never ever get too cocky. Pride always comes before a fall

  • @cosmictimes I showed pride because the kid i was having a conversation with was running his mouth about America. Thats why.

  • @VolcardoReviewer

What's with the England vs America pissing context. Neither country is above reproach. America with its history of racism, slavery, brutality to Indians (Native Americans) and conquering. England with its history of classism, slavery, brutality to Indians (Asians), and cruel colonialism. All countries are mixed bags of good and bad.. Americans were late to WWII, but they lost 130,000 men to a war half way across the globe.

  • @VolcardoReviewer

    correction...

Americans lost 420,000 total people (mostly soldiers) in WWII to England's 450,000 total casulties (combination of soldiers and citizens.) I'd say both sides were brave and fought well. The difference being that America's involvement was less essential for its own well being. IN other words, BRits had no choice.

  • @VolcardoReviewer you do know that bill the butcher was a real person and his parents were both english

  • @VolcardoReviewer .. stop speaking english then.. which is our language

  • @TheTwollocks Make me. America has taken your language and made it better. The world speaks are form of English. Heck even you Brits sing like us. (Adele, the Beatles, etc).

  • @VolcardoReviewer ahahahaha sing like you ...the english were singing thier folk songs before america was even fucking discoverd knobhead ...anyway it doesn't matter because all you yanks will be speaking spannish soon and then lets hear you singing your shit spannish songs ...what a dickhead lol

  • @TheTwollocks You lack some intelligence. Modern day UK english did not exist around the time and before Americas creation. You seriously think British English was the same the past 1000 years? Your folk songs were nothing like the blues or rock and roll Adele or the Beatles sing (which was an american invention).Shit you're dumber than I thought.

Face it, we Americans are far Superior in the movie and music industry. That's why you Brits watch our movies and listen to our music. Spanish? ha

  • @VolcardoReviewer you ever heard of a called house of the rising sun .... its actually a london song about a brothel .... its a bit bluesy ....and thicko americas only about 400 years old where have you got a thousand years fron thick twat just remember what language you are singing in .....i know you are american but what is your ancestry or dont you want to tell

  • @VolcardoReviewer so america is one thousand years old ....thicko .its obvious to me that all song types have thier origins inb english folk songs thats where it all started and i wouldn't say america is supeiror in music ...

  • @TheTwollocks Seriously? You thought I said America's a 1000 years old? Man you lack comprehension skills. I said you think british english as been the same for the past thousand years.

no, not all song types originated from english folk songs. I dont know if you realize but most americans either originated from Germany, Italy, Africa, or Ireland. African Americans created modern day blues, which later became rock. So are you going to tell me english folk song is the reason why there's rap?

  • @VolcardoReviewer According to American Community Survey in 2009 data, Americans reporting British ancestry made up an estimated (40,234,652) or 13.0% of the total U.S. population, [2] and form the second largest European ancestry group after German Americans. This is an approx 35% drop from the population figures derived from the 1980 United States Census.

  • @VolcardoReviewer 40,234,652 (2009) [1][2]

13.0% of the total U.S. population.

    Other estimates: 72,065,000 [3]

23.3% of the total U.S. population

  • @VolcardoReviewer The Twentieth 1980 United States Census, 61.3 million (61,311,449) Americans reported British ancestry.

The total U.S population in 1980 was 226,545,805 and was the first census-form that asked peoples ancestry

  • @VolcardoReviewer British ancestry made up about 62% of the total population or 74.3% of the European American population. Some 80.7% of the total United States population was of European heritage.[13] Around 757,208 were of African descent with 697,624 being slaves. Of the remaining population, more than 75% was of British origin.[14

  • @VolcardoReviewer its so obvious shitty rap comes from poetry and how long has poetry been around ...you cannot have these genres of song without the english language

  • @TheTwollocks haha serious? Look at American music and then look at British music, its so obvious you Brits have been heavily influenced by 20th-21st century American music. Face it clown. You Brits wish you were us.

  • @VolcardoReviewer Most of the population who stated their ancestry as "American" are said to be of old colonial British stock.

    American ethnicity 20,625,093 (7.3%)

so thats like 60 million americans

  • @TheTwollocks the "American: ancestry stock varies paternal ancestry are not as conclusive as a maternal ancestry . The real stat is 40,234,652, 13.0% of the total U.S. population.

  • Better than heath ledger as the joker, idc if hes dead

  • @LogWaft lMAO i WAS JUST WATCHING A VIDEO ABOUT HIM

  • ROMAN POPERY.

  • this movie is fucking awesome

daniel day lewis is perfect as Bill the Butcher

  • @Assmaster350 totally agree, what a performance he gives

  • this movie is fucking awesome

    daniel day lewis is perfect

  • @bender1011001 lewis's great acting made it hard for me to hate his character.

  • @AVYcLaIR12 honestly i think alot of the plots of the movies DDL has been in have had a lot of obvious plot holes but which is why i think DDL has a crappy plot hotline xD because you don't really care because DDL's acting is amazing.

    "call 1-800-DDL plot don't mean a thing"

don't get me wrong alot of the movies he's been in were great for more than the reason he was in it but he has been in quite a few with really crappy plots but they still were great movies cause his characters were amazing.

  • this movie starts to suck the second u2 starts anachronistically playing in the background. even daniel day-lewis can't save this dud.

  • I agree with bill the butcher, because it is thier land as well as mine The irish and rest get out and go back to their country or nation and let them deal with their problems and here is a point why I say this is because they are stealing jobs and ruining our land!

  • Daniel Day-Lewis played an excellent role as Bill the Butcher

  • Roman Popery- HA! What a lot of nonsense, looking back over 100 years and more.

  • Daniel Day-Lewis it the best actor in the world!

  • Comment removed

  • not a bonch of miss nancies

  • cant take john c reilly seriously

  • Liiam Neeson and Daniel Day-Lewis Fucking deadly combo this clip is better than most new movies by today's actors.

  • @Mark0wnsYou these are some of today's actors -_- but they are the better ones

  • @greenpredetor I meant like... nvm what I meant.. who is better than Daniel Day-Lewis?

  • @Mark0wnsYou oh better then lewis nvm

  • @greenpredetor Lol :P

  • DDL is the shit! Best actor going. No offense to Johny Depp.

  • Is this guy reAL? DDL is GOD!

  • most underrated performance of the decade. hands down

  • The very definitive of irony.

2 ethnic groups of european immigrants killing each other over empty dominance rights to lands they stole from the actual "native americans." I always wonder why no one makes movies about life in America before 1492. Such a shame, for history really matters. Im some ways, this film clip reminds me of the talking points held by the GOP, Fox News pundits, and the conservative right at large.

  • @jtack19791 didnt you never see dancing with wolves, chief ?

  • If find it ironic that both of them were considered for Abe Lincoln...and DAy Lewis won that as well XD

  • Liam once said in an interview, that during the making of the movie, they would both be lifting weights and DDL was so in character at all times, he would try to intimidate Liam as he entered the room by uttering, "morning Priest". Not to mention all the rumored fights he would try to start with ppl who got on his bad side.lol He is EPIC.

  • o shit its on

  • Man i would love to see DDL take over for Heath Ledger as the Joker. It would be as Will Ferrel would say " Mind Bottling" .

  • By far the best actor to ever live - DDL

  • Little did Liam Neeson know, this epic battle was also for the role of Abraham Lincoln!

  • @enochjames HE HE HA HA HO HO!!! Good point!!!

  • He is the best "LOOK AT ME!!!!"

  • Ladies and gentlemen; this is story telling at its very best.

  • i never knew John c. Riley was in this movie

  • @GrannyWhackers1217

Yeah, he played Jack the cop. Betrayed the Dead Rabbits.

  • Daniel Day-Lewis's Best Performances:

    1.There Will Be Blood (2007)

    2.My Left Foot (1989)

    3.Gangs of New York (2002)

4.The Last of the Mohicans (1992)

5.In the Name of the Father (1993)

  • @cinemapsycho91 i have to disagree i think In the name of the father was one of his best better than The Last of the Mohicans for sure anyway

  • @moonwalker5800 Well, if anything, The Last of the Mohicans was definitely a much more sophisticated performance. But there's nothing much I can do about that. That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it.

  • @moonwalker5800

I agree. I find Hawkeye and the love story in LOTM to be underwritten and the waterfall scene to be corny IMO...HOwever, I do enjoy the scene when he argues with Cora about the homesteaders buriel and the scne in the glade. Gerry Conlon in ITNOTF is a much more emotionally complex performance as are his performances in My Beautiful Laundrette, Age Of Innocence, the Boxer (which has a better love story than Mohicans), and the Ballad of jack and rose.

  • @cinemapsycho91 You forgot The Crucible. :) He was awesome in that one.

  • @erikjohnloza I think that would definitely be in his top ten.

  • @cinemapsycho91 Now that I think about it, have you ever seen DDL in a poor or mediocre performance? He's one of the best actors out there.

  • Comment removed

  • Never!!! He always gives 120%!!!

  • the other actors he worked with said he would walk around the set in character as in he never dropped character

  • W.A.S.P

  • And may the Christian Lord guide my hand against your Roman Popery!

  • Daniel is the only good thing about this stupid film...just look at their outfits; it looks like they are all starring in a grade school play. Plus Leo and Cameron are out of their league when acting with Daniel Day Lewis.

  • I drink your mustache.

  • Fucking hell i'd be shitting myself if i was in that battle. Not even proper weapons too.

  • Bill is badass.

  • After this battle: "Who lies beneath my blade?"...best line ever...

  • MILKSHAKE!

  • @bigmathafaka I DRINK IT UP!

  • he has the perfect face for a mustache

  • @Alxmir23 so much so....that he doesn't look right without one!!!

  • @Jpbremner yeah!i saw him without one....doesnt look normal

  • this character was based on a man named william poole

  • no joker or any other hannibal lecter is as badass as bill the butcher. The guy just rips through every character in the movie. Cant help but root for him!

  • I almost cried when he didnt win the oscar for Gangs of new york... He is so damn good in this movie that it raises it to the skies, Scorsese And Day-Lewis = Greatness.

  • The "natives" in this movie have no right to say who is allowed in America and who's not as their ancestors invaded the land and had no right there. If anyone should judge who lives in the USA or not it should be the Indians.

  • @NormbrettaMod I applaud you, Sir.

  • daniel day lewis really knows how to work that damn cleaver

  • The butcher is only BASED on william poole this movie wasnt meant to be historically accurate its more fiction

  • Whats funny is that the movie shows William Cutting (Bill the Butcher) die during the draft riots of 1863, however the real (Bill the Butcher) who's real name was William Poole died of a gunshot wound to the heart in 1855. But there is no dispute that William Poole was a rough and tough street fighting bad ass who went down saying the infamous quote, "Good bye boys, I die a true American".

  • Daniel Day-Lewis with some form of facial hair = Acting Perfection

  • @McLarenMercedes im glad to find someone else who thinks javier played his part 150% perfect. i would be honored to be hunted by chigur (pardon my spelling)

  • Bill Cutting is the Protestant version of Paladin Anderson.

    }:-D

  • GO BILL GO BILL GO BILL GO BILL

  • Daniel Day Lewis vs Liam Neeson. Holy fuck, it can't possibly get more epic than that

  • @Ninety9Soulz a true "clash of the titans"

  • @Ninety9Soulz chuck norris i think wouldve been scared...............i think

  • LMAO , Miss Nancy's , yep thats me alright , LOL !!!!

  • Bill the Butcher and Heath Ledger's Joker are my favorite villains of all time....Denzel's performance was shit compared to this....lewis lost but is a better actor without a doubt.

  • Although they both are fine they have nothing on Javier Bardem's psychotic hitman Anton Chigurh from No contry for old men.

  • @McLarenMercedes damn...i forgot about Anton Chigurh....

  • daniel day lewis and liam neeson can you get any more awsome than that?

  • this man cannot be beaten in acting

  • all these irish bastards boast of their homeland... if they love it so much i wish they'd all go back to that shithole and take their popery with them.

  • @jbond5150 well said ....we dont want them in our country either ..... america should be a protestant country ... all catholics bring is crime poverty and corruption irish itallians mexicans

  • john c reileys game face is intense

  • He should have won best actor for this

  • man what an actor

  • just wondering, but would any country fuck wit us if bill the butcher was president?

  • @doublemachete

The last president was Bill the Butcher :)

  • @doublemachete lol interesting thought

  • this character was based on a man named William Poole

  • hi name was Bill Poole lol

  • bare knuckle boxer

  • Everyone talks about how great he was in "There Will Be Blood". And as good as he was, I can't help but think he did it all first in this movie. I have to think that Paul Thomas Anderson styled Daniel Plainview in the mode of Bill The Butcher.

  • Daniel Plainview was modeled after John Huston

  • @meyster7 Good call. His voice certainly was. You can really hear it in Chinatown. But I don't think Huston was a homicidal misanthrope, but I could be wrong.

  • @meyster7 Not just that, but Day Lewis' character in 'There Will Be Blood' was far more mysterious and personally a more real character. So although he showed the same accent and anger in Gangs of New York, his charcter's were completely different.

  • @MrOlie2008

Same accent? BIll the Butcher had a old-timey new york accent. Plainview had a John-HUston like accent. Perhaps, you should see these movies again...

  • @Wellington1138 While the 2 characters were very similar, Daniel Day Lewis had a handful of other great performances before this.

  • In In the Name of the Father and The Last of the Mohicans it was already visible that Daniel would one day win an oscar.

  • He won an Oscar before that in "My Left Foot"

  • @thisismygolfswing Oh yeah, sorry.

  • Daniel Day-Lewis!<3

    Excellent dans ce rôle!

    J'adore son style!xD

    Super film.

  • i didn't know shit about good acting before i saw DDL in this movie. but i was wrong, because this is not just good acting, but the best.

  • I remember picking up this movie when it first came out on DVD and only really watching it because I recognized Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz was in this and looked ok.

    But

-This is honestly on my is for one of the greatest movies.

And all the actors in the movies look like amatures compared to Daniel Day Lewis. he is if not the greatest one of the great fine actors today.

  • Only Liam Neeson equals the energy of Day-Lewis' play in this movie, sad that his role wasn't that big, amazing how they concentrate power and suspense in less than 5min without any background story told yet.

Of course, today nobody's able to play and transform himself into a character like Daniel Day-Lewis did in the past 20 years.
