I always thought a cool team up between these two franchises would be Sonic playing his stages like he did in unleashed( the running part not the faghog), Mario playing his stages like in Mario 64 or Galaxy, then at the end the two characters would have to go super and team up to beat a new threat.
Of course live and learn would have to play in the final battle
