There's some old cine footage of a car journey on here from 1962 from Beeston to Nott'm - some very imposing buildings were pulled down in favour of that awful carbuncle they appropriately named The Square... the only part of Beeston that can be improved with the construction of the tram.
@876904 Picture number 4 is The Manchester Unity Club/Pub, It was also called Nottingham Oddfellows, Mascari's and The Cow. Its now been pulled down and is a wasteland. If anyone remembers i used to Dj on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night there back in 1975, and 76, great times and very happy memories.
Loved watching this brings back so many memories, my whole family are from Beeston, and a pic of the church where my parents got married! Although I moved away I miss it!! Great viewing thanks.
beestin has changed a bit since this slide =) but ilive in beeston i love it and im 14 good place to grow up =) since 2007 ive moved 5 times =) and all in beeston from sainsburys all the way down to the wier =) <3 beeston so much
Fantastic pictures.Many happy memories.A fantastic place to grow up. Cycling everywhere.the gravel pits,wollaton park, Nottingham castle,watching the rugby and of course my Forest !!! Well done.. I now live in the Carribean island of Isla Margarita, so I miss a good pint and cold weather.....Alan
