Sonamy being canon wouldn't bog down the games as long as it didn't become a fact that they constantly shoved in our faces. A little referencing is fine, but several scenes of them being lovey dovey or having standard relationship problems is a BIG NO.

In Sonic X, at the end of Season 2, Sonic gives Amy a Rose, I would pronounce that as Sonic admitting that he loves Amy, and on the ''Amy at the beach'' episode, Sonic and Amy look at each other, and when Sonic looks at Amy there are hearts surrounding Amy, I don't think that's just magic, I believe the hearts represent Sonic's love for Amy.

Archie and SatAM are the same thing, the games and Sonic x are the same thing,

1- Sonic does not like Amy in -that- way.

It's not sonic, he doesn't do that way, he continuously rejects her over and over again. Both on the games, and the cartoons. The episode with the hearts around Amy, that's not Sonic's affection, that's Amy's hearts. Sonic saved Amy, but only because he's a hero

2- The character relationship between games+anime are completely different.
