lets ignore the fact Lockheed Martin make land mines and weapons of mass destruction and lets focus on religion.
If any religion supports the creation of landmines and nukes then fill the census in cause you will be supporting Lockheed Martin in their global tyranny paid for with our tax.
Dude you are a fool, playing the religion card is so yesturday you can keep trying though, we live in a new age and your not welcome!.
is there any way we can find out what exaclty they'd likely use it for? It's not that I don't think they could already trace the colour of my underwear, but it's the principle. This is a government that has lied, cheated, commited war crimes and attacked the most vunerable in society. They are violent thugs and do not represent me. They cannot treat me like I am their property when it is they who have deprived me of the resources I need to live and contribute to society in a meaningful way.
Interesting. During my time stationed in the UK I didn't really get an idea of how religious the good people of UK were. I didn't realize that there was such a high population of atheists in the UK. Is this something that's developed over a long period of time or has there been a large change in religious beliefs fairly recently?
@MarioSavioTZM - Maybe they want to know where all the Muslims live, but if I was a radical Muslim I would claim another religion on the census. Seriously though, census information is very commercial in value if it gets out.
Just how exactly is the census going to be run? If it's door to door, my parents who are really REALLY fundie would try to tick "yes" or sthing, you don't want to see their reaction if they find I'm an atheist, I saw what happened the last time they harassed my brother for months driving him almost suicidal. And if you're wondering- no not Muslim LOL XD *hushed tone* - ex-Sikh.
@TurboDally - Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I intend to call the census people on Wednesday and ask this very question. I will let you know when I hear something. I will record it and see what happens!
@TurboDally - update! Individual members of a household can request a separate form to fill in if requested. You would have to phone in and explain the situation. I'm not convinced that this would create harmony in a household however.
@Darwinsgift I discovered I could fill the online Census individually, but had to ask for individual Census forms (need seperate access codes). My parents saw the extra Census forms coming in for three of their sons but didn't suspect much (hopefully). Already submitted the form online, I think that even if my parents submit anything on our behalf, the online results will remain- hopefully :P I wonder how many households are like mine :S
I think the questionnaire is worded wrong it should say: ''What religion, religious denomination do you belong to?'' None- Because I'm not a cunt. Church of Scotland- Bible fryer Roman Catholic- Paedophile Muslim- Paedophile, Suicide Bomber, Misogynist, Genital Mutilator, Jew Hater Jewish- Arab Hater, Military Oppressor, Peace Destroyer, Genital Mutilator Pagan- Stoned, High, Tripping, Loved Up Mormon- Snake Oil Purchaser Scientologist- Snake Oil (with Gucci on the bottle) Purchaser.
What confuses me slightly is that "no religion" doesn't mean atheist, it could mean agnostic. So should we tick "no religion" or use the box to fill in atheist instead?
@imr22 agnostic doenst say anything abouth being an atheist or a theist. one can be an agnostic theist as well as an agnostic atheist (or being agnostic about just anything). so dont confuse that. (im somewhat agnositc to general deistic god glaim, but gnostic to all theistic claims presented so far.)
however, "no religon" perfectly describes an atheist, agnostic or not. but it doesnt work the other way round. one can be an atheist and have religous believes, although obviously without any gods.
The USA was founded because of a fundamental dislike of authority, and yet we are the single most religious nation outside of the middle east. I AM proud of my nations history, and I DO think we have allot right that most countries have wrong but when ever I turn on the news and hear these poor "persecuted" Christian leaders blathering on about how we were founded as a Christian nation I start to wonder if my ancestors should have picked the other side back in 1776.
There are scads of Atheists in the US. We're just not allowed to have a great matter of opinion thanks to the 'persecuted' Christians who are soon to lose their hold over our land.
Then our money shall be printed with "In what God do we trust?".
@teddybeardustin I don't know what scads means but I think you would be hard pressed to find 2 out of 10 people say they were atheist in the United States. It would be 3 out of 10 if you asked if they were "nothing" or some other safe word but very few people are atheists in the US. The Christians will not lose their hold over this land any time soon. At least not in our lifetime.....and finally, that quote will never be on money...
I called my mother on this after she told me she identifies her self as Catholic. She's such a good Catholic that it took me 43 years to find this out. I asked her why she identified herself as such, and she replied, "I don't know."
She has been encouraged to answer this more accurately when the US census is run.
@TheOtherSide100 - I have the same problem with my mother, she hates religion yet I know she will tick the C of E box. For cultural reasons she can't admit that she's an atheist.
'a bit odd'. A bit? As much as I support your campaign to say there are a lot of atheists, you can't just brush the initial fact you mentioned aside..
@MarioSavioTZM - They have already won the contract and will be paid. There is a campaign to boycott the census and other videos about it but I wanted to make these points as well.
An arms company running the census? How very odd. I've known a couple of folks who've classified themselves as christian, even though they have no religious component to their lives — either doing or believing. From what they said, they seemed to see it as a cultural thing — but that's only when I asked them about it. I got the impression, had their attention not been drawn to the contradiction, that it was actually just automatic/reflexive on their part.

Personally I hate the "No Religion" option. Makes it sound like you haven't thought about it, or are a deist without an organised religious group.
Atheist is what it says.

They can't ask that on the census here, anymore- I'm not sure why, exactly, but I think it's been that way since @ least the '60s.

I like what Douglas Adams claimed himself to be..."a radical atheist" such that there not be any confusion or even a hint of agnosticism or belief.
