  • Hey Betty, I have a problem where the egg refuses to fuse with the bread. If I try to flip it the egg would just fall out of the hole. Am I doing something wrong?

  • These are yummy.....we have made them for years, even as kids and we call them "Toad-in-a-Hole"

  • I like your accent where are u from?

  • @RaeRae914 I'm from Kentucky.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Cool my boyfriend is from GA i haven't been there yet but i like the accent :) I'm from Ireland

  • your hot

  • never had or seen these before but it look's like this would be awesome made with french toast

  • @nickyb2u was great made with french toast i made 3 french toast circles and 2 french toast nests & one toast nest. my french toast version were great with pancake syrup! the original was great with raspberry jam along the nest! (now i just don't want to count the calories for the 4 eggs and 3 peaces of toast i just ate along with the milk, syrup and jam i had with it & almost forgot the butter)

  • @nickyb2u It would be great made with French toast!

    --Betty :)

  • Very nice video. Isn't it funny about names? We make this but we call it bird-in-the-eye.

  • @prairiepatch I've never heard that name. That's interesting!

    --Betty :)

  • I've heard of pigs in a blanket but not eggs in a nest now i know how 2 make thanks :)

  • @MrNinja712 You're welcome! I hope you enjoy the egg-in-the-nest!

    --Betty :)

  • You're Hot :)

  • @djjohb Thanks for the thought...

    --Betty :)

  • I like your video, only thing I do different is I use two pieces a bread and make a sandwhich with them

  • @biggojoe That sounds like a great idea!

    --Betty :)

  • I make my egg in the nests, like this. First cut out the bread, Add butter to pan and butter to the bread. Then put the bread in. Then put the bread in. cook for about 2 mins til gold. and then flip it, til its gold. and then take it out. and add the toast. for about 1 minute. haha

  • @XoBreanneMarieXo That sounds wonderful!

    --Betty :)

  • ive made this before but I whisk my egg before pouring it n2 the bread...

  • @mzJessica826 That sounds like a great idea!

    --Betty :)

  • thanks you help a lot

  • wow what a cute idea :)

The sizzling sound when you flipped it made me so hungry!

  • your awesome!

  • I think my Grandchildren would love this. TFS :0)

  • "Any kid would enjoy this, including myself and my husband." Logical conclusion: you and your husband are kids.

  • hey betty, your hot and i want to know if your single

  • I wanted to try this out but instead of a circle I made it a little more "Christmasy" and used a gingerbread man cutter! Thanks for the video!

  • I love these. We call them eggs in the basket and I add sugar and cinnamon as well!

  • Wonderful.......Makes me hungry.

  • That looks sooooo Good And Awsome. I Wish i cold have one.

  • You have a great shape! Betty you're beautiful!

  • Betty you are beautiful! Let's make a breakfast date :)

  • thnx! i really wanted to make this as my mom used to, and just couldn't think of it.

  • she reminds me of sandra lee

  • Hi Betty! When I was a child we used to call these Boilerhouse Eggs. I have no idea where the name originated. Another great vid btw. Thanks.

  • lol betty... you broke the egg when you flipped the bread + egg over. what would've been better to do would be to cover the bread + egg with a glass top thus heating the top and the bottom at the same time ;P

  • I wanted to make one today, but i like the yolk fully cooked. How will i do that?? :O

  • @rubyjuly94 I like the yolk fully cooked, too. Just reduce the heat and let it cook longer on each side.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

ooh! Really?! Why didnt i think of that?!!

    Arigato Betty-san!! ;D

  • You rip a pretty big hole into the bread, I usually make a hole just big enough for the yolk, or the size of a circle made between our thumb and index finger. We call it an "egg in a house"

  • @stevenanquan Your way sounds like it would work better--I'll try that next time! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • I learned how to make these from my father in law. He calls them "Frog In A Hole" but I have no idea where that name came from! My kids love them.

  • I've never heard that name! These are great fun for kids! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen i got the recipe from eHow but I have to say i've seen some of your videos and I REALLY enjoyed making them for breakfast. You can make mini-toast out of the leftovers too it's REALLY fun!

  • ya.This is monster's eye.

  • I've never heard this name--sounds fun!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

It's the first day of 2010, as usual I woke up early and my girlfriend is passed out in bed. And I'm trying to get her a nice breakfast but have no idea what to make which is different and special... thank you so much for what you do!

I have become a great fan of yours.

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! I appreciate you!

    --Betty :)

  • Yeah i must follow this kind of breakfast, very artistic...thanks Betty, i like to watch your flat tummy...

  • Thanks, and thanks again! I like your comments!

    --Betty :)

  • My diet is composed mainly of fruits, vegetables, nuts, & tuna. I'm sure each of those has added color or use of insecticides or mercury. I mainly cook foods that I think people will enjoy, with some attention to choosing lower fat/sugar products. Nothing is perfect. I don't refuse to use bacon, because of nitrates, etc. I think most viewers would better off in the long run by shaving off calories than reading every research article about Splenda! I do my best, and it works for me. Thanks-Betty

  • luv your vids! you are very fit you said u work out and eat small portions, givin that are all those chemicaly infused subsitutes u use to cook with any better in the long run?i mean you work so hard to cook and stay in shape wouldnt real products be just as good? keep the recipies comin, good channel.

  • My response is the above comment. Yes, I will agree that it would be nice if all food products were healthy. But, even when you put something on the barbecue grill, you are introducing carcinogens. You just do the best you can in an imperfect world.

I hope you have a great day!

    --Betty :)

  • This is a great response!!!

  • Thanks,

    --Betty :)

  • Betty you are so fit!

    :D -LADYGAGAFANS

  • Thanks! I do work at it a bit! I watch what I eat--nothing is off-limits, but I eat small portions. I also work out 4 times a week, and (very important), I have an extremely positive attitude! Thanks for your kind compliment!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi,

i liked this one very much... 'egg in the nest'

will make this as a surprise breakfast for my girlfriend and me on the weekend!!

    greetings from Germany

    Joe

  • Hi Joe,

This will be a fun surprise for your girlfriend! I hope it turns out great! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • This looked good, Thank you!

  • I didn't do a great job making it--it was too early in the morning for me! But, I hope you got the instructions and that yours turns out well! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • My grandpa and me used to cook this together, although we'd use two slices of bread and place them on top of each other (we just cut out a square with a knife in the centre, but your method looks much prettier!). Our other variation was to fry it in dripping... a little less healthy than your recipe.

Thanks for posting this video it bring back happy childhood memories!

  • Thanks for your sweet comment! I thought this would bring back memories for some people. It's the kind of thing you get away from (for many years), and almost forget! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow, thanks Betty! I always forget about this great way to fix eggs in toast! I think I might have to stop by the store this morning to get some bread & strawberries.

I found out about your channel a while back, I really have no idea how, but I'm so glad I did and I watch every one of your new videos - still catching up on the old!
