They have electric organs in their head. I caught one off of cape hatteras and I picked it up and got an electric shock. Not real strong but it did jolt me. this one is pretty big

No its not. Its a northern stargazer. I caught one last year; didn't know what it was, so I sent several photos to an ichthyologist at the University of Washington. Confirmed Northern Stargazer. Only found in the Atlantic off the Northeast States. They have minimal but definite electric potential.

It's a northern stargazer, I live 600 feet from the bay and have fished my whole life, and have seen them before.

Stargazers hide in the sand, so it's possible they really hadn't ever caught one since they're usually well hidden along the coasts.

It's A northern stargazer..They look pretty knarly,but unless your a tasty fish they are harmless :>
