@AwesomeOposum Pirated medicine are usually just crushed glass, sugar and other things. Not the actual medicine itself. Medicine is usually very hard to make. (not all however) Also licensing to produce and sell medicine are expensive as well.
@HornetBlack I do agree that software like Adobe Acrobat (for making pdfs, about $200) is ridiculously overpriced. Especially when there are free alternatives (like OpenOffice) that do a better job. To me a DVD isn't expensive so I go buy the legitimate thing, but things like Flash CS5 are really expensive. So I have no way to learn how to use the professional tool, when it's prohibitively expensive. (Microsoft DreamSpark is a nice solution)
@HornetBlack Believe it or not, with the way DreamSpark works, it actually BENEFITS Microsoft in the long run because of how its intended to go to schools. Think about it, is that not a perfect way to instill some potential customer loyalty? I have never payed for a single Adobe product. However, there are companies who I always purchase legitimately from: Microsoft, VMware, Sun/Oracle (hardly even necessary with them though, since there's a dev licence for almost everything).

why the fuck would I demand the "real" thing when it's $500 more? "now they're pirating medicine" that's a fucking good thing. Now there's competition and now the greedy medicine companies have to lower their prices to compete.

@AwesomeOposum Pirated medicine are usually just crushed glass, sugar and other things. Not the actual medicine itself. Medicine is usually very hard to make. (not all however) Also licensing to produce and sell medicine are expensive as well.

@HornetBlack I do agree that software like Adobe Acrobat (for making pdfs, about $200) is ridiculously overpriced. Especially when there are free alternatives (like OpenOffice) that do a better job. To me a DVD isn't expensive so I go buy the legitimate thing, but things like Flash CS5 are really expensive. So I have no way to learn how to use the professional tool, when it's prohibitively expensive. (Microsoft DreamSpark is a nice solution)

@HornetBlack Believe it or not, with the way DreamSpark works, it actually BENEFITS Microsoft in the long run because of how its intended to go to schools. Think about it, is that not a perfect way to instill some potential customer loyalty? I have never payed for a single Adobe product. However, there are companies who I always purchase legitimately from: Microsoft, VMware, Sun/Oracle (hardly even necessary with them though, since there's a dev licence for almost everything).

Because Microsoft's main customers are corporate and government. eg Over 70% of fortune 500 companies use Microsoft Sharepoint (included in DreamSpark) The whole point is to get Future IT managers to use Microsoft as much as possible so when they go into the workforce. Microsoft also stated this in regards to piracy. If people get Photoshop for free the could buy it on a bigger scale later when they work at a big studio, which is where the main market is.

cause it shows a very valid point real things cost more and some people cant afford real things, like medicine, the real brand names are very expensive, I bought a 10 tablet cause for what 6 bucks...I think (price varies) Tylenol and I use it more than other names...it shoulda been lesser than that maybe half the price, and as for swearing no body minds words are just words :)

@903harman yup. Basically they're saying that anything other than buying a CD or DVD is piracy. Even if a 10 year old girl watches a copy of "Lion King" that a friend sent to her it's considered piracy and she can be sent to prison....... or atleast her parents will have to pay a fine.

Nobody. But when they claim there is, they can then argue it is hurting the economy and lobby laws to secure their monopolies and obsolete business model.
The real problem of counterfeit goods over the Internet are the spammers. It's them that sell the counterfeited 'medicine' (eg: V1GRA). This is what really need to be addressed.

If you charge your friend using your car, really it's your decision, because i personally DON'T and i'm more than happy to provide freebie. And guess what in both scenario they are both lending a car to somebody! Just like a video, and music etc what's wrong with lending it free to your friend?
