Asham vs Crosby should happen for Asham to prepare for someone like Avery. Crosby fights EXACTLY like Avery (just Avery being a little bit tougher). So it would be good idea for Asham to polish his fighting tactics on Crosby.
Avery works well on the Rangers. Last year he fought Carcillo after the Gaborik incident, and has backed up players on the team many times. With Boogard/Prust/Sauer on that team along with Dubinsky the Rangers are not pushovers physically. Still, I agree with arocca on Asham being pretty tough and probably getting the win had this gone the distance.
@arocca861 Asham's style is to just wait for his chances. He's tough enough that he doesn't worry about Avery's punches. Avery wouldn't have fought him if he hadn't been able to grab Asham's jersey before he dropped his gloves. Asham's able to throw some heavy blows when he's uninhibited. Avery also loves to throw the first punch before the other guy has his gloves off. He even tries to tackle Asham early in the fight so he can't throw any punches. Asham could have destroyed him.
@teg201 avery did not try to tackle him, he ducked under ashams arm to land a shot to his head, if you had ever seen avery fight you would know this is his signature move
