According to the dates most Christians believe in, the Jesus you believe in was no longer living on this earth during the first Hanukah. Maybe you are thinking of Passover.

You mentioned "food" laws are canceled, That's a typical NT misunderstanding. The NT states "all foods are clean". However, the CONTEXT was referring to hand washing, a man made tradition, not foods. It says "all foods", but to a 1st century Jew, pork was not considered food.
Jesus commented against some of the ORAL LAW and man made traditions.
Also....in regard to Peter's vision....Peter tells us it had to do with fellowship with gentiles, not food laws.
Christianity was originally a sect of Judaism. As the gentile church grew it separated from it's Jewish roots.
The Bible is written within a Jewish context, and if you don't understand that, you will misunderstand many things in the NT.
For example, you mentioned the 2 commandments Jesus mentioned...that's a Jewish teaching called "The Shema"...The central creed of Judaism. Jesus also said the Laws of Torah will be in effect till heaven and earth pass away.
But Christians DON'T follow mitzvos. They don't keep kosher, or Shabbat, or give a brit mila to a baby boy. They observe completely different holidays. There are a few mitzvos which they keep (mostly the 10 Commandments) but mostly they violate everything. If, as you say, Christianity believe in mitzvos and that breaking them leads to punishment, I'm more confused than ever. What's going on?

a chunakiah is a type of menorah designed especially for chanukah with 9 candles (including the shamash) while a typical menorah has 7, but a chanukiah is still usually called a menorah and is a type of one.
This is why we in a western democracy can do stuff like this and not burn down the city, kill people, and cause general mayhem. Its called the ability to freely think and carry on abstract thought. Also, that respect for other persons thingy.

Actually the middle candle is called the "Shamash" (servant, helper). The Shema is: Shema Yisrael YHWH Elohienu YHWH Achad. Hope that's helpful.
