This is an incredible machine. Fidelity is out of this world! I had one a long time ago that I gave a way :(. ...Had to replace the selenium rectifier because it had reverse leakage, and caused hum and damaged the electrolytics. Definitely a machine worth owning. No disappointments.
Hi maynardcat, I'm an Astrosonic kinda guy here and I have to say I don't think any of my Maggies can extract that kind of fidelity from a 78 and I've tried plenty! Your RCA is just beautiful, would love to have one like it, thanks for the video!
@Mrphatbastard1 Hi Thanks for the comment. This RCA does have a lot of Hi-Fi, but I am even more so of a Magnavox owner, not astrosonic, but tubes. I have two 1959 Imperials, a 1962 console, a 1954 console, a 1950, and a 1948 Magnavox Windsor. I only have the 1950 demonstrating the radio. , and the 1962 console stereo posted. I don't have any of the Imperials posted or the 1948 Windsor to date.
@maynardcat Thanks for the response, WOW what could be better than a house full heavy breathing consoles? I just love this stuff, I've had to sell off some furniture to make room for the next Maggie project. When I get one it seems that they all need just about the same things so I stock up on things like caps including crossovers, cleaning, lubing, needles, carts, bulbs and alignments. Then comes the Pledge and it's off to find more vinyl!!! I've got to start posting...
I bet William S. Paley ( CEO of CBS ) would not admit that his Columbia Records played best on an RCA Victor "New Orthophonic" High Fidelity "Victrola". He and David Sarnoff of RCA were industry giants and rivals in communications in the early to mid 20th Century. Sadly... RCA no longer exists, and CBS sold off their record division to Sony. Ironically, SONY also owns the RCA Victor Records library bought from BMG, which in turn, bought it from GE after they bought and dismantled RCA in 1986.
Great songs. Got these on the Percy Faith 'electronically rechanneled for stereo' LP record. But Theme From a Summer Place, on the LP, is definitely true stereo, it's discrete.
Amazing sound quality from 78's. I knew it was possible. In the early '60's we had some in our library at WSBB, 1230, in New Smyrna Beach, FL. One of my favorites was "Seashells" by Jan August, I think. Been looking for it here on You-
tube, but no luck, yet. Also been looking for a song called, "Cornflakes," but don't remember the name of the band.
Gorgeous,absolutely gorgeous.

...Sorry. I had the table model, which has a selenium rectifier. I didn't realize that this is a consol (looks very similar).

Yes, thank you for posting the original Delicado. One of the best instrumentals of the early '50s, maybe THE best.

This is the superior original version of Delicado. Thanks for posting it.
