John, I have some experience with these inexpensive tents and have a few guidelines to making these waterproof. Because they're sold inexpensively, you can be garanteed they are NOT sealed enough for serious rain. Coglans sells 'seam-sealer' at a very reasonable price, ($4). Anywhere Coglans is sold. Seal ALL of the seams. All seams. Then spray top and bottom of entire tent with a silicon sealant. I use 'KIWI heavy duty water repellent'. (Walmart-4 about $5). Good for tents, shoes, canvas etc.
Well yeah it's worth $30. I took mine to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Light enough to not bother me on the way in or out, but the weather down there is very stable, so it didn't really get a good workout once I put it up. Light enough, but depends on where you're gonna set it up.
this tent was my home for a whole week on the A.T. NJ. it kept me dry and kept the bugs out. really easy to use... really light.. i love it.. and at 25 bucks you can't beat that!.
the video says it's not a 2 person tent... my friend and i slept in it that whole week. i'm 6'1" 260 lbs.
I think it is a great little tent for the money. As johnboyrebel27 mentioned, it may be considered a beginners tent but try to find another tent that gives you rain and critter protection and weighs right at 2+ pounds!
I also now use 2 front guy lines and stake them out in a V to eliminate that front guy line problem.
Hello! I got this tent a few months ago and I'll just say its not bad for the money at all. I took this on an overnighter in the Ozark Mtns of Arkansas and it got a little condensation on the walls but thats ok with me. Im a novice to backpacking and I don't want to spend $200 for a brand name tent just yet.
Not a bad looking tent for the money. I have seen these several times, however never used one. Like you said, it would be a decent choice for lowbudget or beginner. One could add a tarp over the top for added rain protection.
yeah i can agree with you on that also. But I dont think this is a bad choice for a lowbudget hiker or a begginer. I would just advise using a poncho as a rainfly.

Is this a freestanding tent? Like, if I'm in a place where I can't put stakes in, is the tent still going to hold up?

Had one of these for years. Light, packs small, roomy enough. Easy to set up, rugged enough, cheap. $30. Pretty decent tent.

Thanx for the review that was quite informative and now I know I'd rather stick with my hammock for comfort.
