Tried vegemite once. It is sold in the gourmet section of a local grocery store, while it was not the worse thing I every ate, I was in the US Army in Vietnam, so I had my share of C Rations, not all that great but marginally better than starving to death.

Vegemite is seriously something that you've got to grow up eating to like, Marmite is more an acquired taste, you can learn to like it. @WannabeRoxie That's sad. You should be open to other cultures but proud of your own. Americans aren't stupid. That's a generalization on a large number of people. America isn't perfect but it's a damn good country to live in. I'm from Russia and am an Naturalized citizen and am proud of being American. Try living in another country and then you can talk. You sound just like a "stupid" and spoiled American when you generalize like that.

I'm guilty of it too but it still bothers me. And I spend most of my time with people that are extremely racist/judgemental against everyone and they make me ashamed to know them. THATS what I meant.

@WannabeRoxie I understand that but it's not just in America. There are racists/sexists/etc in every country. There is no perfect population of people. There are always going to be the few that like to spread hate and those few are the ones who make the rest of the population look bad. It's your job as an intelligent American to reverse that and show that not all Americans are stupid as some might believe, not to say things against your country because that doesn't do anybody any good. Tried vegemite once. It is sold in the gourmet section of a local grocery store, while it was not the worse thing I every ate, I was in the US Army in Vietnam, so I had my share of C Rations, not all that great but marginally better than starving to death.

@choongbren Vegemite is a bit stronger and a more... I guess "plant" tasting - Marmite is more irony tasting if that makes sense (probably just the way my head differentiates the taste). Vegemite is seriously something that you've got to grow up eating to like, Marmite is more an acquired taste, you can learn to like it. I like both, but it's generally a love/hate relationship for everybody.
