  • I think MB sticks engineer names on the engines if a car owner gets angry at a car for sluggish or not responsive performance or lose a race to someone they'd know who to cuss out directly!!!

  • That is not an SLS. This engine has only 4 cylinders, the sls has 8!!!!

  • @TheNuMetalfreak Your sir, are a retard. It's clearly a V8 just look at the video, and besides AMG only make V8s and V12s.

  • waaawoo

  • sounds like shit

  • One of these days all this will be done by robots.

  • if we brits hand build that.. They'd be a lot of bodging. Hammering until it fits, grinding until it slipes into place.

  • @RandomoGaming hahah very well said mate

  • very gooooooood

  • So there have to be 2 Guys with almost the same name :D

In this vid it says definately Robert Feiler not Fyler. Maybe it is his cousin ^^.

    Failure=Defekt, Störung etc. in german.

    Error, mistake, faults = Fehler

Feiler could originate from "Feilenhauer" a common craftsman guild in the middle age who build "Feilen". Plural from Feile=(file in english).

    But who knows :D

    Nonetheless it's a great engine !!!

  • same guy built the engine on the sls from Jay Leno

  • Also die Ansaugtrichter hätte man fertigungstechnisch bestimmt nachbearbeiten können :-)

  • My name is Robert Fyler...WTF!

  • @x0lamborghini0x yes, and you are a kid playing computer, using graphic utube names and u have ADS attention deficite syndrome. and ur name has nothing to do with the one in the video, which says feiler, not fyler. and now play your playstation

  • so much soul and passion

  • best car

  • world's most powerful NATURALLY ASPIRATED production v8

  • @DaSuntRoman No,the Chevrolet LS7 engine is morepowerful 427 cubic inch 7.0 liters massive torque monster.

  • @alipontiac

LS7 is great engine but no where near of power of 6.2 litre SLS engine.

LS7 have 7.0 liters and produce 500hp and 500Ibs, while SLS engine M115 i think or something like that, have 6.2 liters and produce 570 hp and 500+Ibs.

  • @alipontiac umm chevrolet = US .... so usa has never anywhere near the same power as german cars. let alone mercedes-benz ...

english engine = big but less pwoer per litre, heavy, non touring and fuel massive. ^^ go drive ur backwards us stuff

  • Robert is the man!^^

  • geldfunk.de/inv/538749b6c8

  • wonderful build!

  • Thats German Engineering =)

  • That engine is pure art!

  • ya one man .. one engine

  • Lol de typ macht was das jeder kann und darf seinen namen auf den Motor verewigen :( Ich schweiße die Karosse und das interessiert keine sau :(

  • @paulbeno Karosserien interessieren vielen!

  • Built by Hamburg Von Schnitzelfritzer!

  • my dad have an sl55 kompressor our bulder is "Andreas Buse"

  • Is Robert Feiler the only worker at AMG?

He is on all the videos of AMG motor assembly : )

  • Robert Feiler oder wie ??

  • TECNOLOGIA OBSOLETA

  • Comment removed

  • This is the same guy that built Jay Leno's car engine!

  • This guy has the greatest job in the world! The AMG motto: "One man, one engine"

  • @Soprano313

I know I'm going on potentially false information but, according to Top Gear, if every AMG Mercedes engine was built by hand (excluding the ones made for Pagani) each employee would have to build about 100 engines per shift.

There's no way that's possible. If what I mentioned is true (I'm open to persuasion) then there must be shortcuts down the line. There has to be.

  • I can put a 350sb together in about an hour 1/2 and I've only did it 3 times. Can you imagine how fast an AMG tech can do it?

How can you determine how many engines that can be built without knowing the number of employees one the shift.

Besides Top Gear is not the best source of information, and reviews because they're usually biased.

  • @Soprano313

I suppose so, but I'd imagine it would take more time to assemble their flagship engines. Like I said, I took Top Gear with a pinch of salt, I never said they were right. I was just curious.

  • Each worker assembles 2 - 3 per day. 45 technicians in total so it's quite possible to assemble 100 or more per day. Each engine takes about 2.5 - 3 hours to assemble on the AMG line.

Very similar to Ford's niche line at Romeo and GM's P.B.C.

  • @BlownF150 Yes but the Mercedes is in a completely different league. You cannot compare a Ford or GM to a Mercedes AMG craftsmanship

  • and with the kind of tools they have...of course its possible

  • Thanks for the info. Engine's seem to be Mercedes' forte' so I was just interested.

  • shame the slr is out of production, i liked the supercharged v8

  • guy knowing his job

  • Is this engine similar to the 6.3 L engines they are using on their 63AMG models?

  • the new -63 AMG engines are actually 6.2L. hey label them 6.3 as a tribute to a 6.3L race car AMG built using the W109 chassis Mercedes.

That said, the 6.2L in the SLS AMG is the same design as the others, but it has tubular headers, forged pistons, a magnesium intake manifold, and a dry-sump oil system.

  • @RedWagenGTI its actualyl coz germans round up, and its like 6.21 or 22 sothey round it upwards

  • @AndyWillow1989- 6,208cc. It would be ridiculous to round up 92cc just for the sake of rounding up, instead of rounding down 8cc. It's a throwback to the 6.3L from the 60's.

  • i know its ridiculous but thats how Germans do it, its got nothing to do with the 60's. Its not just with cars either.

  • @EventisInnovations all engines used in 63 model AMG's are actually 6.2 liters but yes it is the same. If your wondering why its called a 63 its coz germans always round up. No idea y :D

  • I have heard (dont know if its true) that it is a tribute to a 6.3 famous engine they had along time ago

  • sheer mechanical poetry

  • * Robert Feiler

  • one man... one engine.

  • @meatisneat

one engine to rule them all!

  • I live in South-Africa, my dad owns a clk 63amg and the guy who put the engine together name is Robert Fyler, when he put the name tag on at the end I saw that it was him, what are the odds.

  • @constateen LOL there are cars in south africa?

  • @constateen Wow, that is amazing!

  • @constateen Coooool. :P

  • @constateen something like 1/100?

  • @constateen~ his name is Robert Feiler.... German for "failure".

  • @constateen NO WAY! my uncle had CLS63 and it was hand crafted by Robert Fyler too, i wonder how long he's been building these engines for

  • @constateen robert feller?

  • @constateen

Sorry but I have to disappoint you. The guys name in this video is "Robert Feiler", not "Robert Fyler" ;)

  • so cool, I want SLS test drive with open doors ;D

  • nice

  • 571 hp

  • when is the convertible version going on sale?? any news on that??

  • There probably won't be cabrio version...

  • actually there will be a convertible version. I saw some picture of the convertible version in tests with the gullwing version.

  • topless gullwing? isnt that kinda beside the point

  • Too bad they didnt show it on the test bench and what kind of crank HP it put down!

  • they should have supercharged it for 150 more hp...

    still badass.

  • This one wil go for the price of a lambo or more..what's the hp on this?

  • 576hp for the future sls

  • hands down it's the best of the best of the best of the best engine.

  • already ordered

  • cool then if you placed the order do you know whats the price for a fully loaded thanks
