  • Derrick Pope seems to use a similar technique.

I find it efficient and relaxing.

Check out his video about double strokes

  • @sanek123novichkov i get speed, i'm comfortable and i get power, what so wrong about that. maybe you should be a little more specific in your comment. I checked out your videos and i'm not so sue you have the credentials to open your mouth.

  • cool man

  • Lol buddy rich doing the rolls like that. Man u can maybe do it once when ur playing on forte. But not to play on piano or moderate. Its simply not useful.

  • lol sure. Go to a school and show that to them. And btw look for any good drummer that does the roll like that.... Yeah thats what i thought. Not a single one. K. If u know something let me know.

  • @METALERO31192 yeah sure i went to bishops university for 4 years and took jazz all the way through and my teacher that had been playing for 40 years thought it was alright. oh yeah and did i mention the term valving technique was dubbed by jojo mayer. Yeah but who knows him your probally right we don't know what were talking about in canada.

  • @doyle30 Wow man ur mixing this with stupid stereotypes now. Dont get mad bro. We are just talking about drumming techniques. Am not insulting u or something. AM not saying u "cant do it", of course u can do what ever u want!!!!! But u dont use that on rollsssss!!! That's my point. K man just keep doing it ur way. At the end i just dont know u. I was just stating my opinion. And yeah i know Jojo, but i just like Steve Smith's rolls better :)

  • @METALERO31192 well you basically you are saying you can't do it if your saying i'm showing the worst /wrong way, how do you do double strokes by the way? Steve smith also uses a similar technique when he does doubles, but really how can anybody even compare to steve smith he's one of the greatest drummers of all time. I still don't really understand whats wrong with this here, whats wrong with comfort, power, and playing the line? I think you talking out of your ass.

  • @doyle30 K man u win. Am out of here. :)

  • K... now that's the best wrong way to do a double stroke. We called the dolphin in Cuba cause ur arm is jumping. Rolls is all about wrist not arm. Sorry buddy but ur showing the worst method to everyone.

  • @METALERO31192 funny i feel comfortable, i don't get tired and i get volume. i don't see whats the issue. my arm is "jumping" because thats what happens when you mix moeller in with your fingers. i was taught it by people playing alot longer than you and i guess there wrong too eh? Playing is about fore arm, wrist and fingers. Stop trying to believe that playing your way is the only way.

  • @METALERO31192 there are tons of techniques out there aand if i'm not limiting my rolls or hurting myself or the kit there is really nothing you can say. Funny i would of sworn buddy rich used his fore arms but i guess he was wrong too.

  • "Hello,In this lesson I don't know how to speak".....Verbal ability aids in the visual aspect, try working on that next time you post.

  • @cast390 "Hello In this comment i will be condescending"..... Typing ability that lets one be a twat is quite frivolous. Honestly i hate all the talking bull shit i see one alot of videos just look at my hands thats all you need, thats how i learned. When i was younger you looked at a books diagram not a guy flapping about a bunch of shit that useless on youtube. Buddy take what you will from the video but fuck right off with stupid comments.

  • @cast390 because this video sums up my 15 years experience in all the genres i've studied?

  • why do you move your arms?? learn to do them with moving your arms so much or you will get worn out so quick!

  • @MrLemonnade

i can do doubles like that for hours, a little bit of moeller never tired out anyone. plus i can do it without moving but i would say that tires you out more because your wrists arent doing any work

  • @doyle30 oh okay cool in my school our teacher tells us not to use your arms or wrist so much and we try to practice just using our fingers! you should try it its hard!! lol great video though

  • @MrLemonnade

well maybe if i was specifically targeting those muscles, but i'm not, i'm trying to show the technique

  • Wow im gonna go & jerk off now...

    What shit.

  • @TheJagzy

thanks but what didnt you like?

  • @doyle30 Sorry bro i didnt mean to be a meanie.Actaully your very good.

What blew me out was that you didnt comment at all & didnt keep the doubles going for very long at one time. You keep stopping them after 5 or 10 seconds.Ive seen vids of guys that do doubles at super high speed for ages.I was trying to gather info on double technics.

I thought you were going to teach something.

Alls cool bro no worries keep them vids coming man.

  • @TheJagzy

well i could do doubles for hours if i wanted to but i would think that would be rather pretentious and nobody wouldnt get anything out of that. the only important part of this is looking at how i hold the sticks and the basic idea of when your hand goes down your fingers open up and when your hand goes up your fingers close. I dont really really need to say shit to get that across.

  • it looks like hand / arm / wrist on the first stroke and fingers on the second?

  • @ssdaven

think of it more like the natural bounce of the stick on the second shot but my fingers are controlling the bounce. To get my fingers stronger and to better show the technique, you can really snap back that second note and really make it present.

  • I like it, good shit man!

  • It seems to require a lot of hand and finger skills

  • how much time you've practiced that for learn it at all??

  • @tommymarinese

i think when this movie was made i had been working on finger techniques for about 4 years. but to obtain that speed initialy was achieved after two years if i remember correctly

  • @doyle30 damn that hella long it took me two weeks to get my finger techique and double strokes down with speed

  • maybe its the camera angle but looks like your left hand is 'slicing'

  • @UABaseball012

your right now that i look at it its been a couple years since then and i've cleaned my hands up a bit. I find it can be interesting though going back to that with brushes though. thanks for the input

  • @doyle30 yeah it is interesting. and no problem, keep drumming dude

  • spacemaker

  • it'd be pretty rockin'. I miss drums, but I don't have a kit anymore, and I'm just not a 'become badass on practice pad' kind of girl. Got a guitar though! Learning to rock some tunes on that this summer.

  • @inkspiral

yeah i've been playing guitar alot too but the pad is where you get work done, often i play while watching tv or a movie which is not any extra time out of the week but makes a big difference

  • Where's your beautiful voice? Miming is cool. The video sort of sounds like raindrops, in some sort of African storm.

  • you should learn that technique you could slay

  • what r u speachless?

  • apparently
