Why wasn't the kitten's mother ever spayed? Being spayed increases lifespans. If she died from giving birth, that could have been prevented. Spaying and neutering also prevents overpopulation in animal shelters.

Amazing the motherly instincts your dog has! Licking the kitten's bottom (which is necessary when they're tiny to make them go potty). I got a litter of 2 week old kittens when the mother was killed by the neighbor's dog and my husband (who had grown up on a farm) had to teach me that. We had to take a wet washcloth to them until they learned on their own. Anyway, sweet and wonderful dog. I would love to see a followup video of your baby kitty all grown up. :)

I think as long as the dog is supervised with the kitten it's fine. When animals are first born their bones are more like cartilage, so they are very flexible and resilient. Large mom felines in the wild yank babies around by their neck, so there isn't really anything to worry about with this dog. I wish we could see the kitten grown now to know what happened.

Be careful, that kitten is WAAAAAY to young to be spending time with a full grown dog, i mean hes very rough with that kitten. WHen its older that is alright, but when she is so young its dangerous for her.

My family is good friends with our local vet and one day they had someone come in with a pregnant cat. The owners didn't want anything to do with the kittens so they let the female give birth to the litter and then fixed her and immediately left the clinic without even letting her nurse the litter which is extremely vital for the first time (colostrom). I took in the kittens and did the best i could. Out of the 7, three survived. My female Aussie just had her own litter so she helped out by

Tho you most likely have a name since this was almost 2 yrs, but a great name would have been Schpeilman - not sure on the spelling but thats how it sounds. mr Schpeilman survived the holocaust and lived in the german headquarters. Look up the movie "The Pianist" staring Adrian Brody. Stunning, moving and based on a real event in co-operation with the man that lied it. Excellent!!!! No it doesn't. It looks like Icy, the mother, may have died giving birth. The second text card reads that the owners are taking care of the Icy's last surviving kitten, which is the one that we're watching with the dog. i was had my cat she had her babies, but after a week that she had the kittens she got killed by a car....i had to take care of my kittens, my doggy helped me to....sadly 4 kittens die...and one survided....we called him leon....he grew up healthy and big.

I'm sorry for your loss. My first cat was a female cat that also died at age nine. She was peacefully euthanized while we comforted her. Age 9 is quite young for a cat die. Did your cat have mammary tumors that metastasized? I still blame myself my cat's death because she too had not been spayed before her first heat.She was an indoor only cat. I later learned that female cats that aren't spayed have something like a 90% chance of dying from this. I'll never forgive myself for my ignorance.Carol
