cool! - The Elmo has a kind of '77 'Right-place Right-time' thing going on. I was a regular in the 90's. I'm convinced the stones have anything you need at any time! You just need to pick the right song. 'Everything alright in the critic's section?'
Some interviewer once asked Jimmy Page, about Keith Richards: "Aren't there some things you cant' forgive him for?". Jimmy just smiled and said: "Ah! Just listen to Keith play "Dance Little Sister". For that; he can be forgiven for MANY things".
Yeah. Jimmy Page said that. Not too long ago, either.
Nobody loves to "rock" more than Keef; and Jimmy ought to know!
Check out Jimmy playing slide on "I Don't Know Why"; from the Stones "out-takes" LP calle "Metamorphosis".
Though Keith was heavenly addicted and was facing drug charges in Toronto, he sounds and looks remarkably great during the El Mocambo shows.
By the way: I read on Wikipedia that the guitars on the El Mocambo tracks were heavenly overdubbed for the Love You Live album. So I hope we get a official release from the original recordings.
I love this song. I recently heard the out take version and it is also awsome with clearer lead guitar and piano. The Stones have really given us a lot in the last .....how many years. I'm glad they are still with us and enjoying themselves.
@swiggy58a I am not sure if it was this night or another one but my parents had tickets to go see April WIne but didn't go only to find out the stones showed up and not April WIne
When the Stones played the El Mo.,Keith had just been busted days prior in Toronto for possessing 1 ounce of heroin&was out on bail. The Ontario Attorney General,Roy McMurtry, wanted to throw the book at him(possession for purpose of trafficking!?) feeling celebrity rock musicians had an obligation to be good role models to youth (yeah sure, Roy).Jimmy Page was quoted shortly afterward saying something like: "Just listen to 'Dance Little Sister'&you can forgive that guy (Keith) for anything." Yes!
@swiggy58a - God bless him, that IS Stu. Sadly, he was told he just didn't have "the look", so he had to take a backseat to those skinny boys in the sixties. But, they included him for years to come. Keith talks about Stu's death in his book "Life" with so much love. A very nice tribute album was made recently for Stu. RIP Stu!
Ken Regan made a lot of great pictures of the Rolling Stones throughout the years. Thanks for the Toronto 1977 pics, most of them are new to me. And how wonderful to see Margaret Trudeau being so close to Mick and especially Woody.
@stercoraniste333 I sincerely hope we're still not on that "it's either Stones or Beatles thing" because both groups liked and respected each other, shouldn't we?
You misunderstood me. I was referring to the proselytizers haunting Lennon´s "God". I have always been fond of Lennon´s songs. The Rolling Stones are more to my taste. They are more "vigorous".
@awoosoul I agree with you. Over the years I've become more of a Beatles fan and i love them. They made great albums and are the standard of what pop/rock should be. At the end of the day though i'll always be a STONES man until the end. Both of there sounds are different and that's what makes them great. It's apple and oranges. What are you in the mood for today because you can't go wrong with ether of them.
Thank you for posting. Great version of the song. Fantastic pics, wow. Seeing Ian Stewart at 3:16 is a delight for any fan ot the Stones. "Stu" was the "6th Stone", played a wonderful boogie woogie style on the piano. Wouldn't play on Wild Horses because he said with the minor chords it sounded like "%#@*ing Chinese music". RIP Stu, you are still missed.
That's Margaret Trudeau, wife of the Canadian Prime Minister, hanging out with the Stones. It caused quite a scandal. Trudeau eventually divorced her, don't know what she did after her brief 5 minutes of fame.....
Not a great song on the album, but much better performed here live.

Over on Lennon´s God they still don´t know the meaning of life. When you like the Rolling Stones you don´t have that problem.
