@DOZEzer This is an ANCIENT Dragon, not Elder. Ancients are much more diffucult, I'd recommend running as fast as you can.

@EpicMrbilly to be honest there are quite some diffrence between odaahviing and an ancient dragon... odaahving is a red dragon while this is a very old version of the normal black dragon (not sure about that) also is odaahving thinner then this buddy and has a diffrent head form ;)

yeah even in the hobbit the dragon was taken out with an arrow. In the chest not the knee. That said, I have found a sleeping dragon and killed it with dual deadric daggers. Sneak attacks will work.

best way to kill a dragon if you're not an archer: Use a follower or the sanguine's rose staff to summon a dremora to distract the dragon. Whilst the dragon is fighting the follower/dremora, equip spellbreaker and keep striking the beast with mehrunes razor until the instant kill effect takes place. Either use marked for death to weaken the dragon, elemental fury for faster strikes (especially useful if you've got mehrunes razor equipped), or storm call for extra damage support. Simples.

How did he down him so fast? I downed my first ancient on expert (Master was suicide) but bloody hell, 300 damage from its frost breath attack, took me a good while (10 mins) of hiding, healing and bow sniping to bring it down (even with dragonrend) 0_0

i have full dagon armour ( legendary ) but ancient dragons are so hard to kill if your melee and i use my ebony bow with 40 damage as well but when it lands i use melee and ive never killed an ancient before. hard fuckn dragons

Just keep on using slow down time shout as many times as you can to get good shots on him. I am not sure how well dragon rend works though as I have not done much of the main quests but because of this shout I have killed these tough bastards without that much trouble.

Great but how do you beat one in the middle of nowhere?!? I am doing the bard college stuff and I trek to this mountain...no where to hide....his frost breath goes right through trees!!....I am level 38 and die in two seconds! i had this happen and alot of people died, the funny irony is that if the bloody dragon landed he would die in 4 hits, i keep reloading but you need him down to half health for him to land, now if faendal or alvor learned to stay inside it wouldn be a problem
