If I grabbed a guy by the ear for not reracking the weights in my commercial, gym , I'd be the one kicked out! The 70's must have been a great time...Thanks for this video Ric.
Just want to remind all of you that I do have a Video/Book on HOW TO BUILD A WRESTLING RING, Another 2 books on How to open and what to look for in a Wrestling School, and also How to Promote Wrestling Shows in your area to make money. All on my site. ric drasin dot com (spelling it out as you tube won't allow url
Things like this is apart of human nature. People hate this type of stuff these days. You beat your child for being bad, they call the police. You see stuff like this in the gym, they'll sue you. Society today is so pussified, excuse my language, but it's true. Thank god for my family for raising me to be a hard-ass, but have common decency to be well mannered.
I wish we had the old school gyms. Nowadays people just use some gym areas to chat and socialise. It's a pain for some of us actually wanting to use equipment to do real workout. The worst part are those that stand right next to you and block your space for a workout.
Ric, I agree with everything you say, but I found it odd you included a photo of Arnold training barefoot in a video about gym ettiquette. We all know Arnold's the man, and he can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants, but that shit would never fly in any well-managed gym. I'm surprised Joe didn't tell him to put on some sneakers!
Hey did guys shower before working out back then? Seems like nobody including women like to keep proper hygiene anymore while in the gym. Body Odor and Bad breath seem to be popular whenever I'm at the gym.
Great video, im a beginner at a gym near my house so im trying to learn some of the do's and donts before i go. Loved the story about grabbing that guy by the ear ahaha, i have alot of respect for huge strong guys that dont have to beat the living crap out of somebody to teach them a lesson
Thank you so much for doing this video! People have no manners and dont show any respect to the gym.
I heard in a interview with Bill pearl how he compared respect for the gym in weighttraining as in the respect a martial artist has for his dojo. And thats true, that was what ive always been tought.
For me it just feels natural respecting the place and equipment that allows me to reach my goals and ambitions. Throwing weights for the sake of is plain retarded.
Well said Ric. Another thing that annoys me is that at the moment my gym is packed out because people have decided to get a gym membership in the new year and it happens every year that by February most of them will stop going. If u r not going to stick at it, dont start it and save ur money.
you hit it ric... i see everything you talked about. weights never put back, tons of plates left on leg press, cell phones, lots of bullshit ! social hour. i shake my head. i train and get out ! others who where there before me - still there talking ! thanks ric !

I do smack down weights if they're heavy, or drop set. I'll kind of stop that, since it does distract people. But you have to kind of grunt though

What about grunting? How loud is acceptable? or walking in front of someone in front of the mirror that is working out to grab dumbbells?

Touch my ear, I'll mash your head in with a dumbbell.

Excellent and WELL put, Ric... nothing is worse than gyms who tolerate idiots who don't replace their weights or wipe off their bench.
