@LFWOL Wire in guitars is usually 22 AWG (not 20 AWG), but this is solely so the humans can handle the wire without breaking it. The wire in the pickup itself is only 42 AWG (.004" diameter) or even 43 or 44 AWG (thinner yet). The voltage present is ~ 150mV to 500mV (less than 1 Volt). .004" diameter wire carries this just fine; I assure you the cross section of the PCB traces have as much area (and conductivity) as the coil wire. We once had a Bogner Ecstasy head that pummeled. PCB amp.
on my strat there is just one thick grey wire with another white wire coming out of it for the jack input which one would be hot and which would be ground?
buying this product as i speak cant wait for it to arrive and as for adjusting on the fly, Im thinking routing in a 'battery box' right behind the controls then just installing the cover, sans box for a straight shot through, just a cheap project guitar im building let you know how it works
I'm very excited about this product. One problem that keeps me from getting this is no option for 500k pots. More importantly for my application, I would love the tone shaper push push pot would be in 500k.
A lot of folks like for the bridge to see 500k in hss. In my case I want all of my pickups to see 500k(virtual vintage pickups)
great idea and all, but in my personal experience throughout the years, hard wired pots and switches are FAR more durable and trouble free than flimsy traces on a breakable fiber circuit board.
We definitely disagree. Most mission-critical electronic equipment used in demanding environments, like military and aerospace (the space shuttle), is most (or all) PCB. ToneShapers have 4-layer boards; the two layers with circuit traces are internal, protected between outer ground planes. Look at images of the unit on our website - there are no traces visible. Finally, if you're breaking circuit boards that are INSIDE your guitar, then probably you shouldn't buy a ToneShaper.
That is a great idea!! Is there any change of keeping the part of the electronics out of the guitar, so you could test different sounds on the fly, without detuning etc. and when you make up your mind you could put back inside. ?
how bout the tone shaper push/push switch? can u make a demo?

@soundboy3 Yes, but not sure when. We have a full plate right now, but that will definitely be added, should be in 2011. Thanks!

@ady0211 Hi, the white is hot, and the braid around it is ground.

Brilliant! Do you, or can you, make something like this for a Fender Classic Player Black Dove Tele Deluxe?

@itsonlyrcknroll Not until we do a Les Paul assembly, I'm afraid. But in the future, for sure.

Great!, I think it could be better if the microswitches board could be placed in the tremolo cavity.
