  • Isn't a truly great film a successful and seamless combination of character and narrative?

  • Perhaps, but character driven stuff that's quite simple might appeal to the average JO Blow, for example a romantic comedy or something.

As for complicated stuff- surely the good aspect of is that although it might not get masses flocking to see it, it can become a 'cult classic' and have its own dedicated fans?

  • you are like unbelievebly cool!

  • ..unless i'm too late to vote, oh well

  • hah, winter in LA is sweet. hah. i'd go with charecter driven. personally id go with a booze drivin cuz i have a problem. so yea, charecter driven

  • character driven

  • Gotta be Plot driven version every time!

  • i vote character driven

as long as the guy in the car makes a cameo

  • both at the same time!!!

    or plot driven.

  • character driven.

    i love your videos!

i wanna see you without the dreds, though :P when are you going to cut them and shave??

  • AAAH! You're insane!

  • dam!! im jealous of your winter, there is a blizzard outside, and I am cold!!! plot driven!!!!!

  • lo! things blow up! and girls get naked!! lol. i think characted driven would be an overall nicer film, but hell plot driven would be wayy more fun!!

  • i just noticed the "now that tex is out of the picture jenni will be mine our maybe"

sorry i love tigger but i don't think i could hook up with him, or a guy in a trutle neck

  • Hahahaha.

    Jenny!

  • That dude with the cat tooootally had a turtleneck sweater on. Character driven.

  • plot driven!

  • character based, please 'n thank you :P

  • I think you should try and do a half and half

like, Tex's dog (frufru) died when he was a wee lad, and he feels totally responsible and that is why he must fight the zombies, for other little boys and their dogs *majestic moment*

  • character driven are crucial. i'd love to see you do one.

  • Plot! with rob zombie as the main character :x

  • AGREED! i voted plot too!

  • I'm not bothering to read each of the 110 comments you currently have here... but I hope I'm not the first to say this:

Do a plot driven character story. Why must the two concepts be mutually exclusive? Why can't Tex learn a little about himself while he's off killing zombies... or whatever?

Why can't Jenny realize she's only with the creepy guy with the cat because of her daddy issues... which she would only have learned because Tex had to leave.

    Dichotomalicious!

  • the subject matter ala 'Zombies' doesn't necessarily make it a plot driven movie. It's really more about do we spend more time learning about why Tex is compelled to fight Zombies or more time watching him just do it.

but I'll put you down for one each ;)

  • Nearly all great artistic expression in movies is character based.

  • Plot!!!

  • racecars and spraypaint

  • character-driven

  • it should be plot driven - free of egos and meant to teach something or asks a question leaving viewers to answer for themselves.

  • plot driven.... with..... zombies.... and ..... explosions .... most definatly

  • ouuu zombies. Good choice, though I'll be getting to specifics like that in the coming polls. Watch for em.

  • the 2nd one

  • Jenny driven.

  • Hahahaha - agreed.

  • Caracter Driven, BUT it shouldnt be too sloppy or slushy, I want to empathise with a character!

    *pictures Freebird esque soundtrack*

And the guy in the car is right =]

  • It seems to me you have to have both or else you end up with Predator VII.

  • I want Character driven plot, PLUS EXPLOSIONS!!!! Nyahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  • I say you do a Character Driven Movie... more depth to it.

  • Character/Plot Driven

    they do exist!!!

  • PLOT DRIVEN all the way. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah the end part was great. Is that your G/F?

  • Obviously you should do a Twins-style comedy about the sensitive turtleneck guy and his newfound identical twin and roommate, the evil turtleneck guy.

  • Help i'm addicted to commenting on this, it makes me type passwords now, YAY

  • hahahah well keep it up, cause #24/#48 now :D

  • Honors for This Video:

    woot

  • Woot - thanks truth.

  • um no more turtlenecks ew i just don't like them

  • Plot Driven

  • this might be weird but what about how the guy that was black mailing tom cruse and he ended up killing himself, but i think tom had him whacked.i think it would make for a good movie. like a conspiracy theory any way that's my idea good luck

  • ACTION FTMFW! It sells better than touchy feely BS!

  • Which ever on has the most boobs in it :)

    Good luck Sam!

  • defiantly plot. go for the plot

  • PLOT!! i want explosions!! :P

  • yeah! forget emotions! And the second one was funny too ;)

  • I vote for character driven, since I'm an emotional sort of person. and cute kitty.

  • nice video man

    i vote plot driven

and make sure that girl is in the movie

  • I Want To See shit Happen Sam

  • character driven -

    more challenge

    more what you do best

more of what I'd click back to watch

serious - about what!! That's where we call in you to get the job done!!

  • Character driven, however the best movies I have seen have equal amounts of both!

    there's my two cents

  • True enough.

  • Plot Driven, Just Do It.

  • friggin shweet

  • Character Driven

I really want to see you do a character driven film because I think anyone can do a plot driven film if they have a good enough plot (not so skillful) but to have good character development while still making it fun to watch seems more challenging, more interesting, and overall a better way to display your skills.

    Like nun chuck skills...

    but seriously.

  • Well said man. And very good point. I'ma get my Nun's and My Chuck's.

  • character drive

  • Hit post too soon:

Any idiot can blow shit up.

  • I'm in for the plot dude!

  • I like the first one, psychology rocks at life!! O.o

    :) peacee and good luck

  • Plot, baby, plot!!

  • Instead of character driven or story driven, have you ever given any thought to creating a book that is inanimate oject driven, I have no idea how this could work. Possibly like the life and times of say a... dildo?

  • Yea cept this is a Screenplay not a book. and it would still be either plot driven or character driven. But the character would be inanimate.

and actually there was a movie in 93 called 'Twenty Bucks' which does this except it's not a dildo. sorry.

  • I would be dissapointed, but luckily with twenty bucks you can buy a dildo.

  • Yea but would it be a good one?

  • oh wait, you just want to See POV Pron don't you...

  • Damnit, I've been caught red... handed.

  • Gross ;)

  • Fa la la la-la, la la la - Character.

  • Character driven. Totally.

  • This video is good. It has words in it.

  • Then you're going to love this comment! Go words! :)

  • Words are everywhere! HOLY CANS!

  • Gah! Here they is agains! Damn em. Damns em to Heckers.

  • i like the best of both worlds, sorry... too divided to vote.... ('m picky okay) actually i think i'd have to go with character, yeah character

and if u are a good writer it will have a good plot as well... and i am guess you are a good writer

  • I agree, I would choose both myself. it is too hard to go with one thing in particular, as both can suprise you in their storytelling and structure.

  • oh baby, i'll show you more than just good stoytelling and structure, writing novel is not my only talent Mr. NewPrinceOfCats

  • Hahaha Erin, you rock!

  • are you refering to last night? or the chapter i sent you, or just in genreal?

  • Oh my. Do tell.

  • showing is better than telling and since you are miles away... sorry Sam Proof

  • True enough. And yea most likely no matter what I do it'll have a good deal of both things.

  • both would be great but i think charater driven would be easyer to make and have a better overall story. CHARATER DRIVEN. dave says hi

  • Character

  • i like character driven. but I'm also a girl. last time i checked, that is.

  • Maybe you need a second opinion. Care to schedule an appointment for a check up?

  • plot plz character is cool and all ..but plot would be so much fun to do..so plot

  • I dunno... plot looks like more fun

  • Character driven!

  • Character fo sho.

  • wow, i really fail. feel free to delete the first two comments.

what i've been trying to say is - definitely character driven. *hug*

  • hahaha it's all good. Please continue to waste comments with typos. :D

  • iz a coledge stoodent - iz can spail!

  • claire fails at typing - defintely*

  • definite character driven *hug*

    Cheers. J.

  • Get that sea living BASTARD Tex!

    Bring back a claw!

  • "Don't Cry for me Jenny. I was a goner the day I was born."

"I'm not Crying Tex, it's saltwater."

  • i think you should have more false :-) and character driven

  • OMG woman you're insatiable. Why don't I just have you make all my videos from now on?

  • character driven, definitely

    -Brent

  • CHARACTER driven! You are so cute Sam.

  • aww shucks :)

  • I say go with the character-driven script. You still need a plot, regardless, so go with well-developed characters that really touch you.

  • (That guy is crazy. He's my friend Sam.)

  • <3 :)

(dats da Becca. She's a poset to poke me wit a stick if'n I stops breavin)

  • mostly plot and a little bit of character ;D

  • that plot shit could be funny as hell though.lol

  • Both would be nice but having to choose, characters all the way.

  • I vote character driven script.

But, I think girls should still get naked...is there a compromise?

    I think so...

  • Hahaha Allie. <3

  • Do both. hee hee. That would be an interesting challenge. Have some non-essential characters that things happen to like they get blown up etc. and then have main characters that react to the things that have happened to the 2 dimensional characters. I hope that made sense. =)

    - Heidi

  • I hate to brag but...we have snow.

  • Character

  • nice sunglasses

  • I was reading Stephen King the other day, and he seems to favor character driven books. As far as movies go, I could go either way. Guess that makes me bi; and I am comfortable with that. So I decided to go with Mr. King on the poll. Character driven. And who says you can't, er, tag a few women in a character driven movie?

  • as tempting as the second one was.

I like the sound of the first one best :D

  • hahah plot driven all the way

  • plot-driven

  • I'm a fan of plot-driven, character-driven films with strong dialogue. "O Brother Where Art Thou" is a great example. I'm also a fan of plot-driven, character-driven films with realistic dialogue such as "Shaun Of The Dead".

Dude, there's no real choice here. You have to throw it all into the hat (Get it? Hat?). Shoot for a masterpiece. -Shane

  • I vote for a character driven script...remember...what would Charlie Kaufman do...

  • hmm tough choice but i vote plot driven.

    mac

  • Character driven, but with explosions?

  • character

  • Development of characters can be fun. So I go with character.

  • i likez de plot.;p

  • Plot : )

  • Cybernetic Crustaceans, LMAO!

I vote for character driven. Although... You could always write a hybrid. Where you have good characters and a fun plot :)

  • Well most likely that would happen either way. The other Polls will be more telling of what the movie will really be about I suppose.

  • It's minus 30 celsius where I am

  • awesome stuff mr. proof.

    character driven would be awesome.

    TeeHee black ops!

  • Oh shoot. I didn't vote. XD Whoops. Go with a Character Driven one. I'm partial to it myself... the one I'm writing is character driven.

    ~Claire

  • Are you gonna do script frenzy?

  • What is script frenzy? ^^;

    ~Claire

  • -laughs hysterically- Things blow up. Girls get naked! Ahh... great description...

    ~Claire

  • I like boobs.

  • God Bless you!

  • characters. and hi Sam :)

  • Hello,Sam. I vote for character driven.

A well defined character will remain in the publics mind forever, whereas a plot themed movie / book, will be used as a template for other's work,as time goes by.

  • Character driven! Character driven! Character driven!

  • Characters

  • number one. plot plz!

    static characters make me angry.

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  • Static like that guy from Powder? he was full of the static!

  • i never saw powder. :X

but hardy har har @ your jokes. :P

  • characters definitly

  • Characters. Please. We dont need another fuggin plot one like you described. . I'll vomit.

  • Numero uno. Characters are important.

  • I think you should go with the first choice. It would help us understand the characters better, IMO.

  • win.

    g' job.

  • I like nakedness and explosives so I'll take the #2 plot driven film.

  • Oh yeah and I almost forgot, FIRST!

  • Fantastic.
