Great lesson. I'm an intermediate level player with little rudiment knoledge. This lesson was helpful to me because it was simple enough to learn but will challenge me for probably half my lifetime or more : )
Wow... listen to the bird at 4:32... transcribed rhythm: "2 +, 5-let on count 3 ( takes up two beats), 5-let on count 1 of next measure (takes up two beats), release on count 3.
@Fyerdrum77 I know... could barely believe it myself :) After another viewing, I realized the bird wasn't done... first it enters on count 2 of the measure 2... and then it enters one last time on count 4 of measure 6... transcribed rhythm: "4 +, 5-let on count 1 (takes up two beats), 5-let on count 3 (takes up two beats), no release." QUITE musical over the triplets.
@nmwerth have you also noticed the wind that blows against the video mic that sounds like a unison bass line @ 4:38?...then it's like the lawn mower that comes in wants to join in with a crescendo roll...it's hypnotic man.
This is awesome, Colin! I'll probably print this off and use it for my line since nobody really knows what a cheese or flam drag is. I have that lamp at 4:05. Lol
What is the intro?

This was a very helpful lesson, especially with the sheet music. Gonna go clean all of this stuff up.

at 1:33 did he say "we dont want the stick to resonate" ?
i always thought it was supposed to resonate. unless i just misheard him. or maybe im just confused about the concept.
bananasack12 1 year ago
@bananasack12 I think he mumbled a little bit, but he definitely meant to say "you want to let the stick resonate". :)
