Central India has some of the largest forests in the country. I can't wait to hear the success story of introduction of lions to that area. Tigers will either learn to share or move out of those areas as it has many options to choose from when it comes to habitable land.
@bowler45 Yeah.. well the problem isn't land availability for setting up satellite areas for a new colony of Asian lions. The problem lies with the Gujarati governments unwillingless to do so. Gujaratis feel that it is "their "lions and that no body else can have them.... even at the cost of possibly extinction.
Asiatic cheetahs still exist and there are about 70 and they live in iran ,
india offer iran to exchange cheetah whit lion so they can have tiger lion ,leopard ,and cheetah but i think ther is a lot of different Between the Habitat for asiatic cheetah
i hope there will be more human killing lions and other animals, humans are greedy......i will work hard to save animals...i will even train them to kill humans, because they are a nasty breeed!
There would be many wealthy magnates, especially the Sheikhs in the Gulf States that should keep these rare lions for tourism and for status. I hope India continues this great work, and perhaps invite the immensely rich to participate in the conservation and breeding program by owning these animals on their private game reserves (not for hunting). These animals are the true symbols of status. So much so they are seen on ancient Persian and Assyrian palace walls (check on google images)
Never have i seen asiatic lions in a much detailed and definitive way. I am big cat conservationist in Africa and i'll be glad to continue my mission in India.
Love this, hopefully they can get the numbers way back up again aswell as Tiger and Leopard numbers. It would be interesting for them to put Lions into Tiger territories again.
Thank You very much for posting this videos....video and sound quality is reallly really good...did u guys listen the birds in a whole doc...soooo beutiful...thanx again for posting this vid...

@TheThetube1970 Man eaters are hunted down and killed, so if you did, you would be training them to die.

@TheThetube1970 Really? So I hope one day one of your trained lions kill your family members!

it's refreshing to see this kind of harmony between people and wildlife, it's rare.
i hope the lions keep to themselves and don't attack their cattle, or that they kill the lions for sport, that way they can both live in peace!

2 Questions:
1) Are the lions having any difficulty due to their limited gene pool?
2) Has there been any consideration to relocating any lions away from Gujarat?
