MarloweDK, I've got Rick 4003 as well, and I've a guestion concerning the Rick's metal bridge on the body, which covers the pick-up under it. The pick-up which above you mostly play here. So the question is, how to get it off the bass? I'd like to try the bass without it :D And I haven't got any answer anywhere yet. So can you help a little?
@Anonyomus You almost need to unscrew the pickup itself to get it off, as far as i remember, it was a bit cumbersome. I needed to get the bass shielded after, since it picked up more hum without the pickupcover
@MostBever Man kan ikke noget med et plekter som man ikke kan med fingrene.. man gør det bare nemmere med plekteret.. og det går så os ud over lyden. Udover det spiller du sku ret fedt :)
@gus23a Ok dude thnx you have to admit that this guy is pro on bass and i dont see anything wrong with using a pick on a rick (lol) i think the people that say this are in-experienced when they say "oooh you shouldnt use a pick on bass its not traditional" anyway moan over thnx for the answer.
Nice vid, I can not agree with all the comments about Ric and Fender, if you cant play who cares what the fuck you choose. This guy can make a $99 pawn shop knock off sound like a million dollars.
@jonsparrow15 Seriously, the tone you can get is awesome. The bassist for Upp used a pick, and got DAMN close to a slap sound. Check out the Upp Down in the Dirt live video. Sweet bass solo.
A real bassist can and will use everything available to them to get the right sound.
@jonsparrow15 There's a strange attitude directed to and by bass players. Is it ego or ignorance or what? Even Anthony Jackson, who played one of the most recognizable bass lines ever, For The Love Of Money, had a disdain for this new fad called slapping. He called it an abomination and an insult to 'real' bass players. Ironically, he used a pick. In my opinion, the only wrong way to play, is to not play at all. Sorry for the interruption Marlowe. Carry on funk master. 1.2.3.4...
@jonsparrow15 well a bass guitar is ment to be played with fingers but in some case you should use a pick! and it's not so easy to use without doing weird noise!

GOGGLEFACE557 1 year ago
@GOGGLEFACE557
of course shiny can be used as a word for describing the sound.
and the answer for your question is:
polish it.
but if the question applied to the fretboard, thats the rickenbacker´s secret.
the wood is polished as long as the wood gets this shiny.
