Access virus TI can replicate most analogue synths. It has moog filters too along with Roland juno chorus. Check it out... i bought one to replace my craving for REAL moogs, Jupiters, Prophets. Lovely machine! There is something magical about a "true" analogue synth too though. Nice demo!
Nice job, did you create your own patches? Do you have the patches up on a site anywhere? (I am in posession of the Jupiter 6, but am always seeking more inspiration.) thanks for sharing!
The Jupiter 8 will be able to all create all of the sounds (and more). However, for a Jupiter 8, you're looking at more than twice the price of a Jupiter 6. Send me your email and I'll send the MP3 over. ;)
ja! Verstehst was ich mein?
@maccagrabme Well I've always liked the sounds of the J6 and came across the Andromeda then out of interest flicked back to this and could tell that the Alesis was more advanced. The Jupiter still has some nice sounds but its not as versatile. I'd like to hear them side by side.
@maccagrabme It might be that you prefer the A6 because it was designed to be an "American" analog in the tradition of Moog, ARP, and Oberheim, whereas the Roland sound is very distinct and not as aggressive. I have an A6 and it can't do the Roland sounds quite as well as it can emulate the Moogs/Oberheims. It's all in the filters. If you want the Roland sound you just have to get a Roland. If you want the American sound you can probably get pretty close with the A6.
i got A6 and JP8, and for this type of sounds id prefer jp6 or some other machine with CEM oscillators (like p5). A6 is too different, excells in other things. also, i much prefer envelopes on both jp8 and 6. muscial and snappier than A6.
is this doable on JP8? to an extent. u would get different sonic stamp , as JP8 is built with different hardware. and also no HP and BP sweeps used here. JP8 is LP only. but some of the general feel would remain.
@maccagrabme i agree, even the juno 60 sounds better, but the juno 60 sounds better than the andromeda - i have both, the jupiter 8 is best of all, juno 60 or jup 4 next (whatever your preference) the elka synthex sounds ALOT better than all of these, i would never sell mine, even for a million!
Just bought a JP-6. I love it but am a bit confused by how it's routed. Two envelopes that I'm not sure which does what. I can't figure out how to just use one oscillator and set it up... and then add a second oscillator and set it up independently.. I'm confused so far but I'm picking it up. Any suggestions on how to start simple and add more would be appreciated.
there's some shit talk about this synth... Saying it's great for pads/strings/and noises but crap for bass and single notes. I almost believed the hype. Til now.
I used to wonder about that too until I realized, if Roland were to build the same exact machine today, it would have to retail for about $8000 if not more for Roland to turn a profit. Sheetmetal housings, solid aluminum caps, quality potentiometers and a quality keyset all cost major bucks nowadays. It's just not cost-feasible in today's cheap digital disposable world.
Yeah your right , but people are paying crazy money for the old one's now on ebay so if roland were to build them again I think people would buy them, I would rather have a new one than a 25 year old one, as long as it was identical to the original.
I don't believe something like this would cost $8000, labour is dirt cheap in the far east and they could put as many digital components in as possible but keep the sound circuitry analogue. All modern vst's need is a touch more warmth and low end and they are sounding pretty close to this so it shouldn't be that difficult to recreate this, they should be able to get 90% there at least. Roland are just being lazy bastards, totally out of touch with modern music.
And you'd end with something that nobody would buy because consumers would constantly compare it to the original. Do you not think Roland does market research on ideas like this. A near-exact reproduction would cost big bucks and be out of reach of most people. A cost-feasible reproduction would be loaded with plastic and components that couldn't compare to the original. Also, why build a reproduction of an older model if the unit will be inferior to and more expensive than the original?
If Alesis can do it then what is Roland doing wrong? There is no reason why they couldn't get extremely close to the original and I don't care if its exact or not, as long as its capable of the same timbre and range but most importantly the warmth and fatness but with the added benefit of modern digital goodness in the operating system, storage and midi spec. The sounds here are good but is it really that difficult to get something comparable in this day and age? I think not.
@trolmper There is not a big enough market for analog synths today. Sure, there's a lot of us that prefer analog, but there is a MUCH GREATER market for workstations. And as JimmyVolmer pointed out, they'd be too expensive - look at the Andromeda & Voyager synths. Long live analog!
Nice. The resonant bass is surprisingly similar to the one on Kraftwerk´s "The Telephone Call"... not their main bass, but the one on the bridge on the extended version...
i have a korg dw-8000 and those also have that same feature. i LOVE it for fattening things up, i think i have unison turned on for about every patch.
@juno6 - I was thinking the exact same thing the second it started. I had one of these for a while, but for some dumbass reason traded it for an ESQ-1 (I know why...it was because I wanted something multi-timbral). But that was also before true analogs skyrocketed in value w/ the techno stuff (I also had a MemoryMoog Plus I bought WITH HEAVY DUTY CASE for $750 I sold later for $850).

When you cut choise between the jupiter 6 and the jupiter 8
what synth would you buy? can you make music like this with the jp 8 too ?
And my both question, can you sent me the track ? (if its possible in 320kb/s mp3 file)
