  • @kralfornon I think the bridge is:

    C G/B Am D/F# G D/F# Em (D/F# G)

    C G/B Am D/F# G D/F# E

Of course there are multiple guitar tracks. These are just the basic chords.

  • plugfather . com has some great lessons also, as well as an awesome javascript guitar tuner!

  • I am playing almost 3 months, and i'm catching up really quick. :)

  • @VEVOsuckmycock Google "Easy Guitar Songs For Beginner Guitar" and click on the first Guitar-Music-Theory search result for hours of free beginner guitar lessons that I made and posted.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab Sure thing. :)

  • After watching this very helpful tutorial i finally got the verse right. Chorus needs some work, but it'll come in time :)

  • Thanks great master;)

  • Hey, whats your probleme? its wonderfull. A little step harder than the other songs. But I say thanks! Im proud, I did it xD

  • you know, there are these things called tags so that you dont have to put all those unnecessary words in the title. also, the second chord is an E/G#, not a natural G

  • What tuning is this in?

  • @TheHazGates Standard tuning.

  • Ah Ok, so there is a paid video, correct? There are parts missing deliberately so we have to pay to get the full video? I think I'm the only one who caught that.

  • @chrisjsz281234 No, I don't sell books, videos or tabs that teach songs. My only song lessons are posted online for free and most of them are partial. I use these parts to demonstrate the guitar theory I teach in my materials for sale. Kinda confusing. Sorry. Google Guitar-Music-Theory and you'll find my website.

  • Looks good. But, why is the verse and bridge parts missing entirely?

  • Thank You! It's "easy" the way you show it!

  • thumbs up if you re watching this in 2011 and you want to learn it.

  • Haha I got this in 1 day along with simple man and stairway to heaven

  • I can only play the Intro so far ...after a month of guitar practice :(

  • youve confused the tutorial with chords

  • OMG...I mastered only the intro for 3 days....LOL

  • thank you for the lesson. This is very helpful. Could you please also make a lesson for bell bottom blues? I can't seem to find a lesson for that song thats easy to follow as this lesson.

    thanks

  • wow... i got it 3 weeks after teaching me how to guitar

  • you are an amazing teacher!

  • Got it in less than 30 min. haha. :D

  • oookay.... maybe 2 months playing guitar isn't enough to learn clapton yet :)

  • @mynameisvanille Definitely not for beginners. Google "Easy Guitar Songs For Beginner Guitar" and click on the first Guitar-Music-Theory result.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab yes thank you :) layla was as far as I got

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab so if ur a beginner.. how do i learn the chords with out no teacher..i looked on google free chord lessosn but i cant find any.. do u kno any that i can learn?

  • @slipknot14k just google eg: basic chord patterns

or the specific chords you're lookking for: A#7 chord pattern (or whatever you're looking for) and look in the first links or in the images.

  • @mynameisvanille dont give up i learned this at two months ( seriously ) but as long as you are passionate about it you will be able to do it :) good luck

  • @mynameisvanille u just gotta practice. i've been playing for about the same time. im learning this song pretty easy. just do it and if u tend 2 screw up a lot just play it slow and get ur form down 1st then speed it up till u get it.

  • @mynameisvanille 4 years arent even enough :(

  • slow down

  • thanks

  • bridge please! :)

  • YOU are an excellent teacher!!!!!

  • im a beginner and i learned the song its easy.......

  • THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME DUDE THANK YOU!!! :D

  • awesome video. im just a beginner and i was just wondering whether u tuned ur guitar differently to the standard tuning. cos mine sounds differently :S thanks

  • @jaxsaline Standard tuning. This lesson is for intermediate level and up. For free beginner lessons Google "Easy Guitar Songs For Beginner Guitar" and click on the first result to my Guitar-Music-Theory website.

  • would thumb fretting be better?

  • @ForrestHK101 Whatever you can do to pull this off and sound good is fine.

  • your long fingers make it seem to easy...

I've really short stubby fingers, and learning guitar has been a slow grueling process =_=

  • @picsmics4 There are advantages and disadvantages with all hand sizes. If you have small hands or short fingers, then my advice is to not try to play like you have big hands or long fingers. I met Brent Mason, one of Nashville's top session guitarists and an amazing player, and was surprised at how small his hands were. Find what you can do well and... do it well! You may need to play some things differently than the recordings or skip them altogether, but this shouldn't hold you back.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab :D I'm sure you're right. I've been trying different variations of chords that worked better for me and the music I was trying to play... it's been hard, and alot of extra work at times, but I'm enjoying it.

  • thumbs up if you are trying to do this with an electric

  • it isnt like the original, its a amateur version...

  • vote up if u freaked out when u saw what he did at 0:05 second

  • @ninaevans01 its an optical illusion. its just 4th fret on 3rd and 5th fret on 2nd. and of course the index or thumb on 4th fret of the 6th.

  • @ninaevans01

hahaha ya i kinda was.. i needed a good laugh, thanks

  • @ThePhilosopherKing00

    Your welcome :)

  • Thank you so much! i just started playing guitar 2 weeks ago and my friends think its awesome that i already learned this song!! :D im gonna get my own guitar now! :D

  • great video! erm....don't fancy doing the solo do you? :)

  • @dnewlyn15 Sorry, no solo. But there's a complete version of this song available from the United We Tab website. Use the coupon code DS20 at checkout and get a 20% discount.

  • Great video man helped me alot!

  • @Nicklive2 if you mean apregio- it means you pick strings very close to the bridge so they make a cpecyfic sound, hope i was helpful :)

  • THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL "TUTORIAL"... hehehe i already know how to play this one but im still checking some other tutorial to clean up some of my mistakes.... .and this is way better than the others.. keep it up..!!

  • An understanding of the CAGED technique should probably be a prerequisite to watching this video, or at least prior to making an uninformed and negative comment. That's just my opinion. To the poster: I enjoyed your video; it was very easy to follow. This song really is quite simple, and your explanation definitely helped keep it that way. Kudos!

  • OK

  • you make this SOOOOOOOO much more complicated that it needs to be, by talking about all 450 chords that you know, and have absolutley nothing to do with this song!

  • 5.09 fuck the lesson - starts singing lol

  • very nice

  • really helpful!..i just know the basic when playing guitar and so it took me 30 mins to learn and master the accuracy of the intro...thanks a lot.. keep on doing need to learn more..i am following.. thank you..

  • Wow, so muh more complicated than the way i play it Oo

  • @Sp4sh but it obviosly sounds better- the more complicated usualy the more better sounding lol

  • My head hurts... and i am a physics student :) good explanation though :)

  • before you finger the chord you must hammer on lol

  • hi! I´m from argentina, I heard tha song some time ago and that´s great, i´m just a beginner with the guitar but your video will help me a lot, I´M SURE. thanks for uploading this!!!

  • Thank you so much!!!

  • Shitty tutorial.

  • what grade would this be?

  • @hollinej01 Not sure I understand what you mean. This is lesson is suitable for intermediate level players and up, not beginners if that's what you're asking.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab

In England they have graded music exams (from 1 to 8), and the higher grade exam you enter for, the more skill is needed, but thanks anyway!

  • You are a brilliant teacher and thank you for this gift!!!!

  • to all you people out there learning guitar just remember- REPETITION IS THE MOTHER OF SKILL !!!!!!

  • absolutely great tutorial.

    Thanks very much!

  • I am sorry I know that I am beside the point but I want to now what arpegio is and if someone of you can help a little bit with that I will apreaciate it!

  • @Nicklive2 See my book Fretboard Theory Chapter 3 or my DVD The CAGED Template Chord System.

  • awesome...amazing!!!! great!! if all guitar lessons are like that i can easily learn how to play guitar...how's great!! please kip up the good work and upload more guitar lessons like that one.. thank you!

  • hey, actually, this isnt about the barre lol, but for the last chord the bm7 in the intro u can just play a D with an extra finger on the string above it. ( sorry i'm not good with chord names :P) good job tho

  • nose bleed...

  • Thanks. >:)

  • do u think i should be good if i started playin in 3rd grade and am in 7 now?

  • @memimer It depends on the amount of natural skill you started with, what kind of instruction you've had and how much you've practiced.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab lol cuz i kind of feel like i'm not very good for my level and how long ive been playing.

  • @memimer Never too late for guitar. If you love guitar you will play as much as you THINK you need to play to get to a level you're happy with.

  • @memimer that´s not his problem!!!

  • [Read other comment first]

And why not do the same thing in the second section?

With the F#m as a barre on 2nd (2xx22x), the C# as a barre on 1st (1xx12x), The A7 as 0xx02x, the F#7 as a barre on 2nd (2x23xx - which allows for the melody to come through --> 2x23xx [x2] --> 2x24xx --> 2x2x2x), and the Bm7 as 2xx23x (so you only have to shorten the barre off the E string to let that play the bass in the Esus4 that comes afterwards)?

  • @PickUpYourLighters Nothing wrong with using a different fingering. Ultimately you must find what works best for you.

  • @PickUpYourLighters wtf are u talking about?! ;)

  • @jezrell24 In short, I'm wondering why he doesn't make the song easier to play by using barre chords.

  • Why not just barre it, seeing as though it's fingerpicked anyway?

    Why not 4xx45x --> 2xx22x

That would mean that for the D/F# you only have to add one finger, rather than moving the whole hand. You can keep second fret barred and just add third fret on the B string.

It's not like you can't move a barre chord down so that it doesn't include the top string. and it makes it so much easier to add your own little trills and embellishments.

  • i just started trying to learn how to play guitar today (and by today i mean a few hours ago) and i am determined to learn this song...with your help, it shall be done. thanks!

  • @xylnathien This song is really for intermediate and even advanced level guitar players. For beginner instruction, Google "Easy Guitar Songs For Beginner Guitar" and click on the first result. I posted hours of free footage there.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab what i lack in skill, i make up for in determination ;D

  • @xylnathien lol well said.

  • what a very long pinky you have.HAHA

  • Thank you so much. Your lesson was the first one that was actually easy for me to pick up on. Subscribed.

  • I would have preferred you lesson stuck to more proper technique, not just because I'm a music snob, but it's sure nice to have great, big man hands, and a skinny little guitar neck ! What are the rest of us (short women) supposed to do with a proper classical guitar - wider neck? There's no way my thumb can sneak over the other side to use on a string here and there. And certainly not with enough hand space left for my other fingers to get to their proper positions.

  • @qwinkly Please forgive typo.

  • @qwinkly This is no such thing as "proper" technique. You do what works and sounds good. If you're not able to use your thumb then try the other fingerings I demonstrate in the video. Your index can fret the sixth string and remaining fingers grab the other notes you need. Don't be discouraged about small hands. There are advantages and disadvantages to every shape and size of hand.

  • @qwinkly

Also keep in mind that this is a Clapton cover and Clapton actually plays it with his thumb over the top, watch the live video here on youtube and you'll see this.

  • ...I can play this with Spoons...

  • you started out really good but went too fast in the second part^^ i'll figure it out anyway;) still a nice lesson!

  • just one question is classic guitar o acustic

  • @doubledeathmk no they are very similar. the only difference is are the strings. classical guitars are not compatible with steel strings they have nylon plastic but i personally think it would sound better on a classical guitar XD

  • @doubledeathmk Tears in Heaven was originally played and recorded on a nylon classical guitar. I'm playing a steel string Line 6 Variax acoustic guitar which has a setting that mimics the sound of nylon strings.

  • song is super easy the 144 peopl who dislike this are retarted faggots there isnt a better teacher on you tube for this song nice work man

  • this vid helped me a bit, thanks! #OMG

  • this is both hard and fun :D I am not very good w/ the guitar but still I can see what you doing great job dude learnt the solo now :D I LOVE IT took me about 1.5 hours but it was so worth it :D:D:D:D:D:D:D thanks man

  • nice lesson dude

  • Excellent

  • 3:08-3:20 when you he lifts his finger off of the F# bass note to sound a low E bass note wouldnt that count as a chord change? a change to an A major chord with an E in the bass?

  • @EvaSlash Maybe, but I think it's actually a F#m7/E. For a more accurate and complete version of this song see the Acoustic Guitar White Pages by Hal Leonard or go to the United We Tab website (use the code DS20 for a discount).

  • this song is damn hard.

  • thanks so much

  • wow your fingers are so skinny O_O. Like a girls

  • Ta a bater ugh ugh WAyaaaaaa!!!!!! Tábaterrrr!!!! YEAHA!

  • hmm... you don't play it right you play a bit out of time, when you switch chords, your just a bit late.... O.O

  • cool vid!

    i learned sumthin from it..

  • cool!!!

  • what i do nog get is what chords you have to use after the intro. You start directly at the I must be strong part. How do you play "would you know my name" and a little further?

  • @ramp008 Go to the United We Tab website and you'll find the complete accurate tab plus a video demonstrating every single guitar part in this song. Use the code DS20 at checkout and you'll save 20%.

  • @ramp008 i think its the same as the start

  • great lesson

    thanks

  • I CAN'T FOLLOWING YOU I NEED MORE FINGERS.

  • i got confused on the second part,

can you make another video to explain it again?

i think the first part was great thoughh!

  • I would like to thank you for posting your lesson of this beautiful song. I have not picked up a guitar in years until I came across your lesson. I am up to 5.08 and working on the timing and I am close to getting it.

Also. Using the thumb on the 6th string may not be right to some people but Eric Clapton uses his thumb.
