"4.Can't scan barcode well with iPod touch 4G. iPod touch 4G does not have autofocus function. Please adjust the distance between your terminal and the barcode manually. *it might be hard to scan a small barcode.. "
Use a magnifying glass when you take the scan. It makes it clearer for the camera.
