I live on the corner of lomax and calvert... forget tryin to sleep or even tryin to talk on the phone with it goin off.. not complaining but its annoying as shit
That siren has been going off longer than you've lived there. If you don't like the siren, then why live there? I'd much prefer firefighters and emergency workers to respond to my emergency than listen to a whiny neighbor.
But 1,000 times a year is a bit to much, perhaps they can deactivate the siren at night.
Sirens are loud. That is what they are for. Surrounding residents do not experience 100+ decibels inside their insulated homes. By the looks of that siren, it was made in the 1930's. It has been there since your grandparents lived there. In their day people weren't so self-centered and pussified as to complain about a device which could save their lives.
No yur a fucking idiot they do that shit 5 times a day for no reason it don't save lives it wakes me up every night fuck epd fuck the fire department I'm surrounded by a bunch of stupid rednecks who love to make noise all day and night
@VMFA115Starloric the funny thing is, the town I'm from used to have these sirens. Then they moved into the 21st century and got these funny little devices called scanners, so people would know that there was an emergency without everyone around them going deaf.
you need to go back to south street and stay in your own neighborhood and mind your business!! we got enough wierd people walking the streets with decibel meters as it is!! My opinions are of my own and they do not reflect Talbot County Emergency Management of Easton Volunteer Fire Dept Inc.
Are you really that much of a douche, that you stand out in the rain and listen to a fire siren? So if talbot co. doesnt do the monthly test and the siren doesnt work in the event of a natural disaster, we can thank you for being a pinhead. Its not like you dont know when its coming haha. I live in that neighborhood and its really not a big deal. Maybe we can go to a paid fire dept and then we can have peace and quiet!! along with a 10-15% tax hike. Plus it would destroy our volunteer status
oh and by the way the house with the Boat shown at 1:15 where you ask how these people can live with this "terrible siren" its a FIREFIGHTERS house. the people around there get used to it. ive talked to them. they realize its a necessary evil because it helps to get people the emergency services they need.
He also neglects to mention (or realize) that siren sound levels are measured at so many decibels at 100 feet. He appears to be standing slightly more than 100 feet away from the siren; he is almost at the apex of its sound level. The amount of sound reaching the "quiet little neighborhood" is not as much as where he is standing during this video.
While he may or may not have a point that the fire and tornado signal sound similar, he appears to fail to realize the importance of the former.
everytime you think about complaining about the sirens just be thankful that we dont use the old trumpet-looking siren that is located right next to the fire house. we disconnected that one because it shook all the 2nd floor windows in town. it could be heard from preston. so dont complain. it could be louder.

they really shouldnt sound these sirens for a "test" in these weather conditions. someone might think it was a real tornado.
