@Blahblobify Interesting You've had problems with the .25 centerfire round, and re,member, that .22 ballistically is rated as shot through a long barrel, unlike the .25 which is rated in a 2" barrel. It makes a big difference. I've also had a fair number of .22 rounds that didn't fire when shot, the primers might have had voids.
@Blahblobify well maybe thats just you. if you scroll down youll see that 9 people gave thumbs up to sj507 agreeing with .25 being much more reliable.
I know, I've read all about how rimfire ignition isn't as reliable , I find that odd since all the 22's I've owned over the years seemed to work just fine.
anyone know of a company that makes a small frame semi-auto pistol like this one but only ambidextrous or just for left handed? maybe in a 25, 32 or 380?
Be sure to wear ear protection shooting one of those little .25's. Had my ears ringing first time I shot it, not expecting such a loud report from such a small thing!
nice vid...These videos of these small guns are nice.. SOme you can barely see around your hand. The first thing I think of when i hear these small guns pop is the lack of respect they get...I would not rely on a .22, .25 or .32 on winning a gunfight or taking someone down. But every time you hear the gun "POP" you have to think, "Man would I hate to be on the other end of that barrel".
First off I love my Beretta .25 cal do I carry it for self defense I have to say yes and no to that in the summer time people are wearing less clothing so I will carry it less clothing easier penetration plus no one want to get shoot but my gun of choice is my 40 cal S&W 4016 love that gun and I don't leave the house with out it.
i was just watching a C.S.I. special in "reality" someone was shot from close range and died instantly from! one shot to the chest! with this very model.

as an ex cop and ex counter insurgency fighter i can vouch for this little gun at literaly point blank range, we´re talking less than arms length CQB battle, i packed a 25 as a last option, and thats where it went, against a gang of 4 heavily armed, didnt go past 2 seconds, 9 mm & ak-47 were on the floor, and mouse was still lethal + extra mag (5 rounds) u gotta have practice tho.... Through a door? fmj goes thru 2 pine planks ( 1 inch thick each) easily, u tell me?
Hello again. What would you estimate to be the $ value of the 950 Jetfire in the .25 or the .22 short? Would you think it would have any collectable value?? Thank You. sincerely, JAMES.
@buzzclark I am about to do a trade. I have a 9mm springfield armory XD9 with around 1800 rounds thru it plus 5 mags - I'm trading it straight across for a never been fired, (cannot purchase NEW here in California), Beretta 21 Bobcat .22LR mint condition. REMEMBER - (cannot be purchased NEW here in California) - Any thoughts/comments?? Thanks. Sincerely, JAMES.
Yes, it is a suitable defense round if you are carrying the pistol, as the pistol will be light / small enough where you won't mind carrying it. Only use FMJ ammunition, for max penetration. If you are talking about a nightstand gun or glovebox gun, then go with at least a 9mm or .38 special.
I would possibly be putting in shot if my granma was using this weapon to aid in hitting the target , shot has all the benefits of making a noise also it wont kill anyone if your relative accidentally shoots the postman
I got a .25 for my grandma because she couldn't handle a .38, semi autos are to hard for her to rack so I chose a Taurus PT25. No racking needed and the rimless casing of the .25 feeds more reliably than a .22 LR. If someone breaks in she has 9 rounds available. I dont care who you are, you hear rapid gunfire your not sticking around long. Plus I rather have her shoot an intruder several times with something small w/ manageable recoil (FOR HER) than something stronger and miss him completly.
it doesnt matter what the caliber is, i think. if u hit the guy in the head, he's dead no matter what. and if u hit him a couple times anywhere else you'll drop him for sure, giving u the chance to put one in his head or run away
.22LR (not short) goes 2.5" into solid wood. .25auto (out of the same exact company model in .25 cal.) will penetrate up to 6-to-7" of the same tree stump. try it. .22Lr's are 2nd most common murder calibers in major cities and .25's leading u.s. murders in detroit while murder capital. The 7.62x39mm and .45 being runners up near neck & neck. When someone wants to kill you, any gun to defend urself is better than none. even a knife can alter some goof from making you a statistic.
seriously, tell me more about the .25ACP anyone? the owner at my gun store told me to better off with a .22LR he said it has more output energy and penetrates more than the 25 and way cheaper also. which makes more sense because .25acp only has an average of 35-50gr @ 700-800fps while .22LR has 31-60gr @ 900-1700fps, the different is the diameter only non-significant slightly wider than .22 (by .03?) well of course unless im wrong about these whole concepts, otherwise tell me more!
the .25 easily.the .25's centerfire primer is more reliable than a .22's rimfire.check out north american arms.they have some great small .25,.32,and .380 pistols
Ruin a week? a police officer in Finland got sprayed a full mag from 25 and that ruined his whole life...on disabled pension and a wreck, just stayed alive and that he is sorry for.
Still better than having no gun, LOL. Personally, I would not go bellow a .380, 38special or 9mm... so there MUCH better options for serious self defense.
Any gun is a man stopper, you can kill someone with a pellet rifle. Guns are not toys, and .25 acp actually shoots a higher grain bullet then the .22, and barrel length has nothing to do with power. its the projectile, not the thing that shoots it.
are you an idiot? seriously, barrel length DOES have an effect on power! the poweder is still burning when it goes down the barrel, ever heard of fast burn or slow burn powders? for crying out loud!
it is more powerful out of a bigger barrel, but out a barrel this short, they are about the same. Dont forget that 25.acp is much more reliable because it is more likely to fir, and feeds better (centrefire, rimless), the 22lr tend to stack funny.. :)

@Oldbmwr100rs
22 LR from a 2 1/2" barrel does about 850 fps, the hyper velocity Stingers do 1000+.
The .25 waddles around 750 fps, 800 if you're lucky.
Yes, I'm well aware of the .22 velocity being rated from rifle barrels thanks.

However, if you want to keep distance between yourself and the threat, I'd go larger rounds.

A .25 may be more reliable, but a .22 has better ballistics. So it's a choice between reliability or stopping power relatively speaking.
interpol3241 3 years ago
nearly all ballistic numbers for the .22 are out of long rifle barrels and the opposite for the .25

Yeah, true. I would like to see a .25 and a .22 compared out of the same length barrel.
interpol3241 3 years ago 2
These only came in .25 acp and .22 short.
The .22 short would not eject shells from hollowpoints, only solid points. The 4 inch barrel model was .22 short.
