for all asking it happens too quick then it closes. try formatting it in NTFS then try to chkdsk again then format it to FAT32 then chkdsk. i hope this helps you.

@clrathnayake You should try to: Right click "My Computer" >> "Manage". Select "Disk Management", look at the bottom section for any "Disk" that is marked as RAW, and choose to format the volume in NTFS/FAT32 or give it a drive letter. Now that it is done, you can then do CHKDSK for the drive.

to those of you who got the command prompt flash across the screen then goes away, you need to run it as admin if you're on win7, just right click from the start menu when you type chkdsk /f I: (for example) and run as admin

Alot of people are complaing about something popping up and going away, here's the explaination:

Running a command such a chkdsk from run, will run the command through a command prompt improperly. the correct way to do, so you can see the information and make sure that it work's, is instead to type cmd into the run box (located in the start menu), then type the chkdsk command you want to do into the black box appears. I'll run through the command and hopefully fix your errors without flashing.

I have the same problem, saying the usb pen is corrupt when I try to acess it from explored. Running the chkdsk command (chkdsk /f H:) as my drive is labeled h, and /f if the command to fix it. If not run as administrator it flashes and closes right away, but ran like admin it scans a drive, though I think it's scanning one of my harddrives as the usb pen doesn't light up for activity, nor does the fix actually work.

Thanks so much for the help. My only suggestion is to make people aware of all the spaces when typing in the folder name. Also you might want to add "flash drive" to the lists of tags.  I was originally searching for under 'flash drive repair" and not finding anything worthwhile, only when I switched to "usb repair" did I find your video.

I've tried everything from that chdsk to every command prompt people have mentioned on forums etc and it didn't work. The only one that did work was "hp disk usb disk format tool" it's for every type of computer not just hp and i was able to format my usb (a pny usb). Just google its free and it should work hope that helps :)

I'm having trouble with a usb flash device it's a spynet video watch and it mounts like a standard flash drive and it's not being recognized by my PC. guys can u help me about my problem with my kingston dt 2g usb my problem is if i try to open my usb it's say "The disk in drive D is not formatted.--- Do you want to format it now? Yes/No" if i click yes and tried to format it, in the end a promp will come out and say window was unable to complete the format and if you close the promp another promp will come out and say the disk cannot be format.. and if i view the properties of my usb it has a 0 bytes used space and 0 bytes free space

Ok my USB stick is messing me around, in the morning it was working then after 15 mins i plugged it back into a mac, Now nothing pops up, i went home and tryed it in my pc same thing, when i plug it in i can hear the beep noise it makes and after some time "My Computer" freezes. if i leave it to unfreeze it sometimes shows Removable Disk (random letter). i dont care about the memory stick just the data on it.
