  • i wish she didn't dump Frank. she might've won the OGM if she stayed with him...

  • It is absolutely hilarious to see that the Kwanatics are still scrambling to desperately claim that Kwan was robbed of the Gold here. The excuses like """Sarah was in fourth so she doesn't deserve it""" or """Michelle deserved to beat Irina""" so that Kwan would still be gifted the Gold by default. Kwan did NOT even deserve the Bronze with the crap skates she vomited out here. That was Sasha's but pity points go to Michelle for she embarrassing herself and failing the USA for the SECOND time.

  • Oh man this is just rich. Just absolutely DELICIOUS! Freeze at 7:40. That LOOK. Oh she BLEW it big time AGAIN!!! All the help she could get. 4 years to re-think her strategy and she barfs this mess out...that and the short but it was so awesome to see that the Olympic judges aren't fooled by this half-baked attempt at an Olympic GOLD medal. Only serious athletes...you know, the ones who risk it, push it, up the ante, assume no breaks...are the ones who deserve a chance at top honors.

  • Although I was disappointed that Kwan did not win the gold, I was more disappointed that Kwan failed to acknowledge and congratulate her teammate during the post-competition interview with CBS's Jim Nantz.

    ASAMI ITOH

    Easton, Conn.

This is from the NY Times regarding the 1998 Olympics. Articles such as these are all over the place but Kwan doesn't see them nor do her defenders...this lady is honest...and tells it like it is. I didn't write this!! Camera on...gracious Kwan...camera off...well..

  • Moment to Savor

    Published: March 01, 1998

    To the Sports Editor:

How refreshing it was to see Tara Lipinski and her other teammates, including the often maligned Nicole Bobek, enjoy the closing ceremony without any outward indication that their agents had told them to appear. They carried on just like two spirited teen-agers savoring the moment completely unstaged.Maybe Michelle Kwan would have been able to put her disappointment in the proper perspective if she had joined them.

  • Of COURSE there are videos galore with Kwan in them...I mean the woman held on forever in her failed quest for Olympic Gold. The winners moved on to other things knowing that figure skaters tend to have a short shelf life in serious competiton. Others know that because they TRAIN and IMPROVE and it costs them dearly. Kwan had no real competiton for most of her sad little career and was not straining her body or bank account so of course she is well known and pitied. Poor little Michelle:lol

  • Olympic opportunities don't grow on trees. I simply don't understand that even with the inflated scores and the assurance from so many people that she would win simply by standing up, and the lesson learned from Nagano, she skated like a scared cat again. She flat out failed twice and it's so delusional for her to think she would actually beat out real athletes in Torino under a fairer point based system for the gold, simply by once again letting her "heart sing" on ice.

  • 'I've been very lucky'. It's a sport and it's beautiful. You know all the crap that spewed forth from her mouth in 2006. With tears flowing and dressed in black. How DARE she make the 2010 Olympics even a little bit about her. 'I respect the Olympics'..OMG has the woman no shame and does she think WE are all dolts? I mean really, seriously?

  • And before anyone jumps on the 'but she didn't compete and didn't petition bandwagon' just her talking about a 'comeback', another try is further proof of Kwan's true character. That should have been a non issue, a DUHRR, but not for the attention craving Kwan. She had to make an announcement to the press. This Olympics couldn't sneak by kwanless? I mean what about 'it's not about the gold, I've have a great **cough cough** career? whatever form she could make it even a little about her.

  • I find it quite interesting and ironic that the two faced Kwan 'it's not about the Gold' after the ugly business in Torino actually had the gall to imply that she 'might' try for a comeback in 2010. Say what??? That is some serious food for thought. Even her desperate defenders might have a bit of trouble explaining that away. Ya think??

  • There are lots of commentary articles from MANY experts, who are WELL-informed about the sport who write that Michelle is not as glorified and revered as her fans think she is. They are journalists, NOT fans so they are not allowed to use bias in their articles. They only state opinions, but they backed up by real evidence. Otherwise they wouldn't be even writing. And michelle DID hold this sport back by proving that if you just let your heart "sing" you'll win.

  • @allenglandlawns LOL! You don't think that journalists can't be biased with their views? You believe everything that you read from them? You must be VERY gullible. You take these "experts" OPINIONS as valid evidence? What these journalists write is NOT irrefutable. There are still ignorant and vindictive journalists out there that fancy themselves as experts. There were many journalists that wrote that Evan Lysacek was bad for figure skating because he didn't do the quad in his OGM performance.

  • @allenglandlawns They said that he should have never won the OGM (nevermind about his other elements). There's more to figure skating than a quad and a more difficult triple-triple. You would have to be ignorant to FS to disagree. Many of these attacks from Getrealandsee are about Michelle's character (it's just their theories and opinions).

  • @Karosanyo OMG. I guess I'm so gullible! I don't buy into Michelle's "graciousness" and "sportsmanship." Translation of her petition: "Hi Emily, do you mind if I step on you by denying you a spot on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Olympics even though you put in hard work all season, while I just sat diddly squat? Thanks!"

Actually, lot of those "biased" experts have been involved in the sport for many years. I don't agree with them but there is some merit in the argument against Evan.

  • @allenglandlawns You can think whatever that you want. Those are YOUR OPINIONS. Just don't come on here and act as if those journalists opinions are valid because you agree with them. There were many "experts" that were around for many years that stated that Michelle deserved her spot on the team. I'm sure that you disagree with them and I'm fine with that.

  • Comment removed

  • @Karosanyo Oh and just one more thing. I came up with my opinions by watching this sport for many years, not from reading up other people. I just use them to back up my opinions showing that there are others (very legit people I might add) who actually agree with me. Besides, you were the one who asked for the links before condemning them as SO ignorant because you don't agree :)

  • @allenglandlawns Yes, I wanted you to give me the links because I wanted to read the full articles. Those links didn't even work... I also wanted to write to the author if I could. I never condemned them as being ignorant because I didn't agree. I just stated that there are many ignorant and biased journalists out there. That's MY opinion. Unlike you, I truly understand the difference between fact and opinion. YOU were throwing these OPINIONS at me like they were valid evidence...

  • @allenglandlawns I have been watching this sport for many years as well. I'm also very fair and far from being biased with my opinions. I'm very confident with my views and don't need others opinions to support my own. You can believe and post anything that you want. Just don't come over here acting as if your views and these "experts" that YOU agree with are irrefutable. I never said that you couldn't post whatever that you want. I can also counter your posts whenever I want.

  • @allenglandlawns I can't handle it? Projection? You can't seem to handle opposing views. These off-the-cuff assumptions are getting out of hand. And you're not "proving" anything...

  • @Karosanyo Yadayadayada, boy you love defending your Kween don't you? Are you her new cyber bodyguard of the month? Well whatever, I'm proving there are others who don't worship your goddess and they can base their opinions on real evidence, whether I agree or disagree. And I still think Kwan is a liar, cheat, and phony. Ruining this sport for true athletes and champions willing to push it forward. I don't even know why I'm responding to you. Good-bye :)

  • @allenglandlawns Just some more juvenile statements and assumptions... Once again, you're not "proving" nothing with these OPINIONS. Real evidence? You can't seem to comprehend the FACT that all of these statements that you throw around here are OPINIONS. You can think what you what! Those are your views! Take care.

  • @Karosanyo Ooooo, last time I checked I can believe and post whatever I want. Is it your job to clean my "mess" here? I guess you feel like it's your duty to protect Shelly's image LOL. I post my own opinions and I can agree with experts or not. I use them as support. I'm just proving it's legitimate to not revere Kwan and be unbiased at the same time which you seem to can't handle. But the fact will always stand as Kwan FAILED to earn the OGM, the medal that matters.

    Kwan's dream becomes a nightmare

    By Anne Marie Cruz

    ESPN The Magazine

Kwan's impatience carried over into her program. She rushed into a triple toe early in her routine and two-footed the landing. Shaken, she later fell on her triple flip. Photographers bolted out of their seats angling for a shot of Michelle sitting on the ice.

**Well, she DOES love the cameras to be focused on her** LOL oops, not at times like these...on HER terms. LOL

  • As American Sasha Cohen began her final spins, Kwan went into her twitchy pre-ice routine, her arms snapping apart and together like a clothespin. She clapped briefly for Cohen, and then raced out onto the rink, deftly navigating through the toys and bouquets. The flower girls were gawking at Cohen, but Kwan snapped them back into duty, motioning for them to hurry up and gather all the goodies still littering the oval.

  • Actually Kwan herself said that she skated her BEST in Nagano which translates into her best wasn't good enough for Olympic Gold which is the only medal worth diddly. Let her tout her powder puff medals to her 'hearts') she skates with her heart doncha know..Michelle Kwan will NEVER wear Olympic Gold and is touting Sasha''s bronze from SLC!

  • Hey, Michelle broke another record: she is the first reigning world champion in years NOT to win Olympic Gold. This is one title/accomplishment/record that IS legit!

  • Comment removed

  • For all of you who dont understand the real michelle, I suggest you read her autobiograophy "Michelle Kwan: Heart of a Champion".

Maybe then you'll understand her. Believe it or not, during some of her competitions she had extreme pain in her leg or toe.

  • @MegaAwesomeMLC Seriously? An autobiography lets you know the REAL person? Michelle spins herself as a champion...with a heart...as a winner....you don't think that she could possibly be inclined to make herself look good? In an autobiography? There is plenty of info out there to expose the REAL Michelle Kwan but she sure didn't write it.

  • @kwansansog Do you make rounds every night on Michelle's videos on Youtube? This is scary.

  • @Karosanyo It appears you are right behind me trying to clean up Kwan's image and purity:)-:)

  • @kwansansog I'm just countering your slanderous and vindictive posts. You state that her nature and character are ugly... What do you think you are with these posts? This has been going on now for many years. You have many of her performances on your favorites and you watch her over and over. You're just an obsessed fan. I think that you need to take a step back and look at your own actions before you condemn others. Many of your accusations are just your own ignorant theories....

  • @kwansansog Wasn't it her injuries that kept her from landing the triple-triples?

  • @1814Brandan Not unless she was injured most of her skating life. She muffed the triple triple and doubled it, not a sign of injury just one of not daring to try it. And the triple part was double footed. Michelle was very rarely injured as were other skaters. There is a reason for this and that imo is that she didn't push herself. Artistry rarely causes injury unless of course she got tired waving her arms and jiggling.

  • "Success is not always measured in a Gold Medal."

  • @MusicLuver093 Then why Torino? For the USA, no. For money, attention, camera time? Michelle petitioned her way onto the team and used the process for her own purposes. Nancy Kerrigan was knee whacked, all Kwan did was hurt her groin. She hadn't competed in enough events to even have the right to petiton and then she didn't even compete. Give me a break! 'The thought of medals never crossed my mind', 'I want to let my heart sing' among other sappy garbage she spewed forth. Ugly Ugly Kwan!!

  • @getrealandsee Lol lemme guess, Michelle stole all the medals that you wished your favorite skater won. Lol chill buddy. Michelle was 26 in torino. You body doesn't hold up that easily after 12 years of world class performances. Please humor me with how being ugly is relevant to being an elite athlete? Grow up would ya? She IS the most decorated American figure skater of all time. That's a fact.

  • @MusicLuver093 Well, Michelle was given unearned medals and titles, including this bronze. Her body held up and even if it hadn't then WHY Torino. 12 years of world class NOT! 12 years of mostly mediocre and repetitive, yes. Oh, of course she has bling up the ying yang but that doesn't mean spit diddly. She skated against a sub par field and in case that didn't give her the 'win' the judges propped her up and inflated her scores. I mean UGLY as in her nature and character, not her looks!!

  • @getrealandsee Tell that to the 9 judges that helped give her the bronze, not me! lmao. the fact that you spend the time to look up all these little articles hating on Michelle is so cute haha. The fact is, is that Michelle is one of the greatest figure skaters of all time, and I have the rest of the country and it's figure skating judges to agree with me. You don't :) .

  • @MusicLuver093 The rest of the country? Those 'little articles' that you dismiss are written by experts in the sport and experts in the dynamics thereof. I do believe that I have already posted the reason that Kwan was given Sasha's bronze. Michelle Kwan is extremely overrated and the fawning and gushing over her has cost the sport of figure skating tremendously. Its credibiltiy is being restored and in all actuality Tara and Sarah had a huge impact on that restoration and then came 2006:(

  • @getrealandsee How did Tara have a huge impact on the "restoration" when Kwan didn't debut in the Olympics until 1998, too? She wasn't america's sweetheart until post Nagano. Lol experts? Never heard of any of those people in my life. So what would you call Olympic level judges? No experts right? lol. Gimme a break. Tell it to her 46 6.0's in competition. How many has Sasha had? Sarah? Tara?? Yeah that's what I thought :)

  • @MusicLuver093 What did you think? I have posted more than enough for even you to read. Tara WON in Nagano when Michelle was so ready to be crowned that her neck was bent to receive the Gold. And as far as all of those 6.0's in competiton I have already addressed my thoughts on them. Kwan was all over the papers, the news, everywhere in 1998. Read what Christine Brennan had to say PRIOR to the Olympics.

  • @getrealandsee Yeppp Tara beat Michelle... and Michelle beat Sasha :). 46 Perfect scores!! :D. I'm sorry you write way too much, please narrow it down a bit. Thanks.

  • @MusicLuver093 Tara beat Michelle where it counted..she won Nats. Worlds, and Olympic Gold. Perfect scores...given to Kwannikins for her arm wavng, jiggling, wiggling, and facial grimaces or expressions if you must. Kwan's scores were SO inflated and the favortism was blatant. Crap programs and even at that she muffed the simplest jumps but still was handed the bling and titles. And in SLC Sasha beat Michelle but Shelly had to have something shiny to take home and brag about.

  • @getrealandsee Yes Tara won because her program was more difficult. But her skating isn't graceful or pretty. All you guys got against her is "the judges loved her too much." There's always gonna bet that argument, therefore these debates are pointless.

  • @MusicLuver093 I didn't mean physically ugly! I know people have slammed Tara and Sarah and called them ugly, and graceless, etc., etc. so let me make this clear. Michelle Kwan is a very pretty young woman and was a very cute little girl...physically. Period. Ugly inside...covered up with a whole lot of PR scripting but caught off guard it truly showed. AND...she 'listened to her body'...what, did it leave a vm that she didn't get until the pity party in Torino? C'mon now...

  • @getrealandsee Still on this now? Give it a rest.

  • @MusicLuver093 For once I have to agree .....enough with the explanation which I already sent to you...my error which of course I didn't see until I scrolled down and read my previous comment. I am sorry and I appreciate your response...civilized, uninsulting, and totally reasonable. Have a great day!!

  • @getrealandsee You, too. :)

  • @getrealandsee lol Whoaaa jealous much? lol Kwan is Queen. Queen of the ice. GET OVER IT.

  • Americans. I'm American, and I just want to hear the music. Why can't they just shut up and let us enjoy it? Sigh. Amazing, nevertheless.

  • It's "curious" that we always see the same individuals knocking her down over and over again - is there some personal (as in an actual real-life competitive relationship with Kwan and have always been her bridesmaid and been over-shadowed by her) - why the obsession with knocking her? Just wondering - sure makes for interesting reading though :)

  • After watch this, As a skater I was, can said that Michelle Kwan pretended win 2002 Olympics with any effort, single jumps no risk, no emotion, no combinations, so safe on her routine. All her f. s background did´t help her to have win.. very similar the way Kattarina Witt won 1998 Olympics over Midori ito.

If you are a fan you have to be honest with yourself....

  • read the article about Michelle Kwan in the Associated Press about her winning her eighth national title. There is a lot of praise about her there. Michelle Kwan is one of the best figure skaters of all time. Kimmie Meissner, Fumie Suguri, Joannie Rochette, Sarah Hughes, Kim Yu-Na, Molly Oberstar, and Adam Rippon all list Michelle Kwan as their role model/inspiration

  • The only similarity between Yuna's skate to this music and Michelle's is the music and color of dress. Yuna's was incredibly difficult and awesome. Kwan couldn't even pull this simple little wiggle jiggle off.

  • ЫЫ ЛАйсачек)

  • What's with all the nasty comments about Michelle?

If she was one of the worst skaters of all time, why would she have so many titles? Why would she be Yuna's idol?

  • @XOFrankieroXO Oh, she HAS titles alright. She is a great beneficiary of the corruption that permeated figure skating for years. Unfortunately at the expense of other skaters and figure skating's credibility as a sport. She is also a very crafty woman who makes sure that the face she shows in public is set. Read a bit more about her actions and perhaps class act might not be so appropiate. Even here 'her thumbs down on her scores shows it.

  • She has five world championships, nine U.S. titles, and has even appeared on The Simpsons. But those numbers are like gaudy passing-yardage totals: completely meaningless without the big prize.

  • I think everybody is so focused on that triple flip, but I have to wonder that even if she had landed it Sarah still would have won. Sarah did two 3/3 combos (cheated, but that wasn't CoP). With a clean skate Michelle would probably have gotten another silver.

  • Yuna Kim had the weight of an entire country on her shoulders and showed us the most beautiful back to back programs in the history of figure skating. With all the pressure, with all the fear, with all she had to lose fairly or not she delivered. Yuna Kim is the best skater I have ever ever seen. Athletic and graceful. A rare combination and well deserving of the Olympic Gold Medal.

  • Michelle Kwan is so much better artistically than Irina Slutskaya. Michelle Kwan's change of edge spiral is the best.

  • fuck u 8min long making me skip through just to see the fall

  • her jumps don't have any height.....this small detail makes a skater a real champion!i have always prefered slutskaya's skating

  • Michelle Kwan has the best change of edge spiral. She has the edge artistically over Slutskaya any day.

  • I was 12 when this happened! I was a HUGE Michelle Kwan fan, but I was happy when Sarah got the gold!

  • I remember watching this back in 02.. how terrible it is that she fell.. she is such a legendary + inspirational skater, wish she were competing in the 2010 Vancouver ones.. However she did skate fabulously and I commend her for that! This was a very good performance, nonetheless!

  • I was really upset she fell, I remember watching this and crying. It was so upsetting to me. I still think she's amazing, even if some here view her as boring. She is a beautiful and graceful skater :)

    God Bless ~Amy

  • michelle would have been better if she had harder spin combos!

  • Comment removed

  • You could be a little less rude, even if you don't like her, its your opinion that she's boring, it doesn't make it law. :)

  • It's not really fair to compare Yu Na and Michelle because they were skating under different scoring systems. But to try, they had the same number of clean triples (5). Yu Na had a 3-3, but popped her 3-sal into a single. Michelle had the fall and a barely perceptible 2-footed landing on the 3-toe. Spins are a draw and Michelle wins on the spiral. Overall, I would put Yu Na slightly ahead on the tech. I think Michelle wins on the choreo and presentation.

  • This is quite harsh. Figure skating, whether we like it or not, is a subjective sport...

  • You are being more bluntly stupid and subjective then anyone else here, you really lack any ethics or ettiquite at all when it comes to conversation on nline, you are acting like a troll. You are fine to have an opinion and no one else has been as rude as you on here.

  • Class of her own....

  • Artistic scores here were WAY too low. The fall did not mar the program at all.

  • Yu-na is yu-na, Kwan is Kwan. They are different and I love both. STOP make bad blood between two FANS.

  • oh...

    she is true skater!

  • You can see the pain in her when she sees her placement. But that is what is so special about Michelle; this lady has given us so many emotional moments.

No one else has given so much emotion...and feelings...She is magnificent.

  • i love you michelle!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • well what's funny about it now is that michelle adores yu na kim =]

i LOVE the spiral sequence it fits extremely well with that part of the music. (Michelle)

  • @gabbynewneo Yuna is in a class of her own and no her version of this didn't touch Kwan's...she couldn't possibly go that far down.

  • @gabbynewneo Kwan's version was slow, boring, and emotionless, don't even compare Kwan to Yuna, Kwan is one of the worst skaters of all time

  • @SquirrelTrapper You are absolutely right! Interesting that a poster called Sasah an anorexic choker when this was one of the first times she had competed on an international level and she still did far far better than Kwan and earned the bronze that was given to Kwan. Choker? Kwan blew it twice, crapped on Emily and still will never wear Olympic Gold.

  • Comment removed

  • @SquirrelTrapper I think I'm going to die laughing. michelle is yuna's ultimate idol, yuna used to memorize her entire routine. this was one of kwan's crappy performances but you could see how yuna's scheherazade was inspired by michelle's, even down to the red and gold dress. the placement of the spiral and ending pose in both programs as well,

  • @SquirrelTrapper Oh come on - obviously you're not a fan but "worst skater of all time" give me a break, and I would say the same thing about kwan fanatics who say she can do no wrong on the ice - give me a break also. Both sides are no longer objective and are non-constructive with opinions, kinda like Democrats vs. Republicans

  • yuna will never kill any artistic program of the kween

  • WOW!!! Just look at her blades...so steady and sure but light and fast.

  • I miss michelle!!

  • If you are not a figure skater or have never performed before an audience.....shut up... why do you watch any video that turns you so critical and negative?

  • please figure skating is subjective and please don't make it sound like your own opinion or other people's opinion that you favor is absolutely right...

i just watched ito's performance on the same piece of music and I certainly agree that her jumps are really out of the world! didn't know in 1990 the level of difficulty could be so high! great speed too! however, imo artistry and flow not as great as michelle's...

  • Compare this to the Long Program that Midori Ito skated 12 years before to the same music of Sheherazade. Amazing that the technical elements in Midori's program BLOW Kwan out of the water. Ito jumps twice as high, Midori flows in and out of her jumps beautifully, and doesn't have the box turns that Michelle had, horribly remindful of France's Surya Bonaly. She double footed the first triple toe, then only double the second one.

  • I just watched Midori's Sheherazade before...not only better jumps as well much better cut of the music and all in all much more impact, but to be honest Ito's performence (esp. at the NHK 1990) was one of the rare masterpieces in lady's figure skating, amlost unbeatable

  • You know I think it is a bit ridiculous to call someone a choker. They are representing our country and it is an amazing thrill just to be out there. For all of you out there that say that, have you ever done anything like this? Have you ever even been in an arena with this many people. Just to be able to go out and perform regardless of the outcome should be respected.

  • Then, did you know that you are intensifying this private ordeal one must face, I have a friend whose daughter has serious anorexia attack and as a result, she has a stroke. Sasha doesn't have that condition. And you must look at Caroline's slim status too because she, like Sasha is a picture of health due to exercise and diet.

  • Yes, no world title or Oly gold for Sasha but boy is she a pleasure and thrill to watch !

  • she fell because she was slanted

  • i don't agree.. sasha was always falling.. michelle is better

  • yeah, look and see her 1000000 falls. not to be rude, i know sasha's got the grace and elegance, but michelle's jumps cannot be compared ! way better.

  • i skated to the part at 2:15 fro juvenile lp

  • nice recovery there of the triple axel

  • did she win?

  • Along w/ Kurt Browning, one of the bes/pioneering skaters ever to never win the Oly Gold medal..

  • She...did...AMAZING!!!! Michelle Kwan is one of my idols!! But didn't she win the Olympics?

  • no it was she's from china- no wonder!

  • It was sad to see Kwan miss gold it what everyone knew would be her last olympics. She was my favorite. :(

  • She summed it up in the Kiss and Cry: "The flip was so dumb." She could land that jump with her eyes closed. Mistakes happen, though. Too bad it had to happen at the one championship she hadn't won.

  • EVIL

  • aww... She's so good!!!!!!

  • she's good

  • This definitely wasn't her best skate, I agree with duckling1015. As much as I love Michelle Kwan, she had such a desire for this medal that she almost forgot about just skating and focused on winning, which took over her mind and she wasn't focused enough. But I love her so much anyway!!!!!

  • I am totally confused...if Sarah was in 1st place after the Long and Michelle took over 1st..how did this come out this way..I don't understand how Michelle could be in 1st and then worry about Irina...can anyone explain?

  • Sarah was in 4th after the Short. Back in the 6.0 days, if you weren't in the top 3 after the Short Program, you didn't control your own destiny. That means, in order to win overall, you need to be 1st in the long program and have the leader finish 3rd or worse. That's why Sarah needed Michelle to be 3rd in the long.

  • @cleareyed1 I have the same question! It said overall rank 1st...so Sarah would have dropped down to second and then if Irina beat Michelle, Michelle would still get silver and Sarah bronze. What am i missing here?

  • If you skate for a gold medal, you won't get it because you are always thinking about winning, and not your skating. It was a good lesson for Michelle Kwan.

  • Sasha is an anorexic choker.....they were so ready to hand her gold in Torino and she fucked up.

  • Kwan didn't choke in Nagano. She wasn't as dominate as she had been at the Nationals that year but that was expecting way to much. Tara just had a harder technical program plus skated with more joy. Michelle's LP was a bit tenative but she didn't choke. Choking would have been if she had fallen like she did in SLC which she did not do in Nagano.

  • I dont think she choked, she won the short, and made a stupid mistake in the long that cost her...I dont think anyone but michelle knows how much pressure was on her to win in her home country....

  • Look, this is not a modeling session. These people are athletes. They train differently, they have to have a proper diet so they get better conditioning, endurance and jumping ability. They also have to perform to the right music, at the right speed.. If they don't train properly, then they either fall, or they suffer pain and end up performing poorly. In order to maintain successful competition, they compete. This is what makes one individual a good athlete.

  • @1814Brandan

But she couldnt win in the Olympics, not even in 2002 in Salt Lake City, where the judges were begging her to simply spend two minutes in an upright posture so they could give her the gold. Instead, she crashed and burned.

  • @getrealandsee ITA with you. She had her opportunity and blew it. I enjoy so many of her programs, but the OLYs are not about the best in the world, but who is best the night of the competition. Lipinski's victory stings, but not Hughes...Kwan was foolish to have dumped Frank Carroll as her coach. Frank has the last laugh now - he finally has an OGM skater on his resume.

  • @1814Brandan

And this is a quote from an article by Mike Celzic a very accomplished and respected sports writer and he is talking about MICHELLE KWAN!

  • @getrealandsee Nurse! Get the Thorazine! Quick!

  • @idolfan9495 Yes, please hurry. idolfan9495 desperately needs a shot of it.

  • @getrealandsee if you read the entire articles both writers that you referenced pepper their criticism of her with equal praise/acceptance of her place in the sport. also ppl hating certain celebs is so normal, to do so vigorously and freakishly is also quite commonplace, but never have I seen someone like you whose been harping on about michelle for over 4 years under different nicknames. it's quite frankly frightening..you're sick. if I were michelle I would be afraid of you.

  • @1814Brandan She's not a "choker" - she's a skater with bad technique - watch her jumps in every program - she never seems to land solid, only occassionally. Her falls and stumbles are so awkward to watch - clumsy skater at jumps but artistic and musical overall.

  • @utubejunkiepig From 2003 on, her programs all started to look the same.

    6. Michelle Kwan

  • @1814Brandan

Though she has been generally considered to be the world's best figure-skater for the past five years, Kwan was twice upset by American teenagers in the Olympic Games -- first by Tara Lipinski in 1998 and then by Sarah Hughes earlier this year. In both cases, she was obviously tight and failed to skate anywhere near her best, failing to win even though the judges were clearly dying to give the four-time world champion the gold.

NOW this is one title that kwan truly earned!

  • I don't care if she fell, shes still the best women skater out there! :D

  • she still is beautiful out on the ice. love u michelle <333

  • I can see why she fell, she leaned too far in her triple flip. I mean, too far to the right. I mean, it happened.

  • And Ithinkformyself are you even a figure skater? You talk like you're the shit and know everything.
