Stupid armchair statements and name-calling aside, your wife can take the recoil of the garand quite well for that stance. The first time I fired my Garand from the standing position (trying to use the correct military stance) I nearly fell over, but (out of pure luck) I hit the bullseye :-)
Very respectable job shooting for what appears to be your wife's smaller size and the army mule recoil of that rifle. I absolutely love my Garand, wouldn't trade it for anything.
The Garand is a bit of a beast, I think she did a good job with such a cumbersome weapon. I love the Garand, but I'm built like a brickshithose :) Its actully a lot tougher to teach a novice to shot a rifle like the Garand, but once they get the hang of it the Grand is good able platform still.

Even men learning to shoot a large rifle may not have sufficient upper arm strength to lean forward, which is the best standing posture.
I saw that in the army, guys from big cities had never held a rifle were leaning back just like her. The TI had to put his hand in their back and make them lean forward. After a few rounds fired the rifle would start to sag toward the ground. There are "exercises" for building the strength in the arms but it takes time.

I'd probably shoot a 30-06 Garand a lot, if quality ammo wasn't so damn expensive. Would be a shame to fire that steel, Russian junk through it, though.

Even men learning to shoot a large rifle may not have sufficient upper arm strength to lean forward, which is the best standing posture.
I saw that in the army, guys from big cities had never held a rifle were leaning back just like her. The TI had to put his hand in their back and make them lean forward. After a few rounds fired the rifle would start to sag toward the ground. There are "exercises" for building the strength in the arms but it takes time.
