  • As simple as this video is and as computer savvy as I consider myself, I actually learned something. =D

Thanks for posting up videos like this.

  • I've been using WLMM for almost a year now. Just got the new beta yesterday and am checking it out. One thing I don't like is that they took out the 720x480 setting "save to computer" 480, which is exactly what I used for youtube. The "save to computer" is now an automatic 854x480, no better youtube quality but almost twice the filesize. I made a custom format of the old one so I could still use it.

  • @steeljan Thanks for providing feedback on the Live Movie Maker Fans channel. In the new beta version, it will automatically deted the dimensions of the contents that you're using inside WLMM. For example, if you're using 720x480 video files only inside WLMM, the recommended output setting on your local drive is going to 720x480. Also, if you try to upload to YouTube directly from WLMM, it will recommend 720x480 (having Widescreen Aspect Ratio).

  • @LiveMovieMaker But I don't want it to do that. The thing is, my Kodak Zi8 in wvga mode is shooting widescreen vga. By WLMM deciding to make my video encode at a higher resolution and twice the bitrate than it was shot, it nearly doubles the filesize, with absolutely NO change in quality.

WLMM should at least give me the choice for 720x480 with 2800 kbps bitrate. It used to, but in this beta, that has been removed.

  • @steeljan Then, you can create Custom Profile Setting and set it as 720x480, set your project aspect ration inside WLMM to Widescreen, and publish directly to YouTube from WLMM.

  • @LiveMovieMaker Re-read my first post. That's exactly what I did, created a custom format profile. Most people will not notice that this has changed except uploading takes twice as long. It should not have changed, that was my point. Thanks.
