Tanya Donelly, in my opinion, was an extremely visionary musician. She wanted to do a lot, all at once. As one poster pointed out, she was restless. I think Belly was some of her best work, but she's attempted some solo efforts, too. I heard a rumour awhile back that she mught at some point reunite with band-mates from Belly, but nothing has happened. It's too bad, she's a lovely lady and vastly underappreciated.
She has such a cool voice. Does anyone know where to find the song, "Broken' from the Mallrats soundtrack from BellY? I searched it on here even using her name - Tanya Donelly.. but nuthin' :(
If anyone knows where to find this song on the internet I'd be very grateful! Thank you ^-^
Tanya Donnelly seemed to be extremely restless with her music. She passed through Throwing Muses, The Breeders, Belly, and a solo stint within just a handful of years. Last I heard, she had a baby and kind of immersed herself in motherhood. Wish she would re-emerge.
This is such a great song... it kinda sounds like a remix version though - it's not is it? Or has the sound been treated in some way? Anyway, thanks for posting.
the problem with music on computers...by the time it's compressed into a file, and played back on teeny, crappy speakers, the original fidelity is lost. still a great song.
Tanya Donally has enjoyed a variety of incarnations. Belly was one of my favourites. If you want to hear Tanya REALLY solo buy her subsequent albums under her own name. Not as good, in my opinion, but still good listening. Like others have noted, this is one of the greatest, and most over-looked, albums, ever.
I think the problem with King was, in fact, that it wasn't pop at all. It was post-punk and most people had left the boat by that point. I agree, it was a great band and a great album.
q buena cancion y q buen grupo pu...mm...los mejores anos de mi vida, imposible regresar a esa epoca...gracias radio rock en lima...i remember my friends
That was such a great song! I listened to it so many times back then, I almost burned a hole through my CD. Belly was a great alternative band. Too bad they never got the recognition they deserved.

I'm glad to see others who appreciate Belly. I liked Throwing Muses, but I've listened to this album for, like 15 years.

From the early 90s comes this indie (and very danceable) rock hymn, thanx to the powerful US quintet, fronted by Tanya Donelly.
This mighty tune is on their "Star" album (1993).

I think the vid used the US radio version which is slightly different than the org album version. Or maybe not..

Amazing video, amazing album, amazing band.
Probably one of the best acts from the 90's, and Tanya is quite incredible as a solo =D
