I hate to say it but the Ali kayos were monkey business. The betting price on Ali was just to big to let Sonny win. All of the guys who know about it are gone..John Vitale, Peppy and Sonny as well. I like Ali...great, great fighter. Maybe he could have outpointed Sonny in a real fight on his BEST day.

See the punch in the first fight actually looks like it hit Liston pretty hard. The second one probably not, Ali was standing over him yelling "I didn't hit you that hard you lazy SOB" so I gather he didn't really connect, especially since it doesn't look like he did either.
This was probably the greatest boxing match ever recorded on film. Ali (Cassius Clay) was at his very best - Liston was a "killer" but couldn't touch the "scholar of boxing".
