I'm against certain things that the CCP is doing. But I have faith in Hu and Wen for their continued reforms in China. FLG persecution is real and sometimes bloody, my uncle is a police chief in Hunan. But FLG is also sickening, as its practitioners would die rather than go see a doctor. Arguing whether FLG commit suicide is meaningless, coz we don't have the evidence to either prove or disprove it here. But do you suspect that if FLG were right and all these 1000 suicidal cases were made up by CCP, would that be a stupid strategy for CCP, since there were far more easier slander to make, such as murder, sabotaging public properties, which happens way more often than suicide.

raids of churches are held often and the freedom to assemble, practice religion or speak out against ccp govt is restricted. slave labor camps are common. executions of people for no more than attending christian service is common.

they don't claim that all practitioners are in jail. they say, and ccp's own announced poilicy outlawing it proves, that many memebers are in jail. the govt also jails christians and other sects. look at what happened in tibet. the argument isn't is the FG a cult, it might well be, tho most cults don't give away their books and videos free. n my observation, CCP is not against religion itself. There are 100 million christians, 40 million muslins, and 3 billion buddhist in China. Christian population is growing in young generation. I encourage you ask somebody who has been to churches, mosques or temples in China. You are right that the govt is not as tolerant as US. They have laws that impede underground religious movement. Most of the FLG charges on CCP are from FLG themselves. I agree there are tortures on prisoners who did not obey rules. But that is not only target on FLG, but rather a wide spread issue. As far as I know the Chinese Govt is establishing and enforcing laws against that practice since 2004 and things are changing slowly.

According to the Chinese source, more than 1000 people suicide themselves because of practicing FLG before 1999. Most cases of people dying in the FLG reeducation camps are not because of torture, but rather they refuse to eat. I think the state has a responsibility to protect his people from cult influence. I am not sure whether the measure by the Chinese govt. is appropriate, but it's at least effective in this regard. I think the FLG and its advocators at least should be equally blamed.

But I have talked with many strict FLG followers and noticed their mentality has been distorted by this cult. I'm not well versed on this topic, but it's a "military strategy" thingy...If Taiwan became independent, or even worse, become US's "so-called" friend..then China's eastern front is open and vulnerable, and is susceptible to attack.
