Leading up to Friday June 8th, we were getting pounded by rain on 3 or 4 consecutive days. As for Friday, the clouds just kick it in high gear. In my 40+ years of living in Houston, I’ve never seen anything like that.
The last reporter mentions they'll try to push you down. It's true, I learned how to survive someone trying to drown you in the military. The first guy- I got him away from the truck, he panicked and tried to treat me like a float. So, I swam to the bottom, pushing him away (like the training). When I got to his legs, I grabbed one and noticed my feet were touching the bottom. I just started walking to the shore while holding on to his leg. Evidently, we made it. Boy, did he kick.

LOL.. "he panicked and tried to treat me like a float"
Yea that's true, when possible, the best way to save someone from drowning is for them to actually drown first and then get them in a timely fashion.

God Bless you for helping others like you did! Someone rescued my mother by boat during that same flood. Sorry you lost your car. =\
